Stage 3, the important ITT.
Gaudin was a minor favourite for the day, and would be our hope for a top 10 overall as we felt that Drujon would lose too much time to make up in sprint bonuses he may get.
Sutton set an early lead
And would eventually end up in 17th + '54
Malacarne was also a likely bet for us to get in the top half of the field.
He finished 24th at + 1'00
Gaudin was 4th for a long time, until the main TTers set off.
He finished up in 9th place, just 42 seconds of the pace.
Champion (Bouygues Telecom) was leader for a long time until Brit Wiggins and Benoît Vaugrenard shook the times up.

The final stage, and the final attempt at a stage win.
Again we knew it wuld come down to a bunch sprint and so on the final hill, Gaudin put in an attack. He was caught with 3km to go by the fast moving sprint trains. Not to worry however, as he latched onto a wheel and so would finish in the bunch easily. Drujon and Tronet were both up at the front, and Drujon managed to pull off another last day result.

Update Post:
Damien Gaudin has been invited to 4 jours de Dunkerque which consists of a ITT, 3 flatish stages and a hilly cobbled stage. We will be looking for another top 10 position.
T.Jollet has leveled up after 21 days of racing. He will hopefully be able to stick with the races a little longer now.

Yup few years indeed. B)
Profonde van Drenthe
The reason my classic's crew exist.
We decided after the first tiny hill where the race just split for no reason that we'd use that to our advantage and sent off Drujon on a solo move.
As can be seen in the last photo, a front group had formed after the last cobble section, and it was bearing down on Drujon, who would later be able to stick with it for a while, but then got dropped.
Gaudin, Malacarne and Pioline were still in this group though, and with some confused protecting of Gaudin, the race split for the final time over the final climb. Leaving 3 rabobank continental guys off the front. Gaudin quickly put the hammer down, and started to move across. Wesemann also saw the danger and crossed over the Gaudin, sat on his wheel for a short while, then attacked.
He caught the trio up front and won from that group.
Meanwhile, we were very happy with our results:

A somewhat hilly race with some big pro tour teams in usually means we aren't going to get a whole lot of good places.
Paris - Camembert Lepetite
The riders would still be our best one day riders however.
As expected a pro tour rider won, Moreau! Probably his only win of the season!

Scheldeprijs Vlaanderen
Again headed up by Gaudin, this race is a vital one for all the team to gain experience racing at this level, as well as more points up for grabs for the continental rankings.
With 170km to go, we decided to send Jollet up the road in an attempt for him to bonk far enough into the race to be able to finish and get the experience (he got to 9km to go!)
The attacks from the pack didn't begin for a long time. Our entire team was sat at the front out of danger.
This still didn't help, as Malacarne went down on one of the cobble sections near the end, ruining his energy just trying to get back, so when the field split apart, Gaudin was left alone in the front group. We decided that with the half blue bar left he'd try to get across to the Boonen trio. He didn't make it, and was stuck in no mans land, but managed to solo to the line to finish in a respectable 9th place.
The finish was contested between a group of 5 favourites, but unluckily Burghardt crashed with 1.1km to go, so lost his potential 4th place as he was overtaken.

GP de Denain Porte
A rather flat race today, we were looking for a top 10 as usual to keep some points ticking in.
Drujon would be our man as usual.
A big big break went today of 25 riders. I thought theyd go all the way, but by the time i knew that i also knew that Brouzes who was in it wouldn't cut it. So he sat in, and still ran out of energy.
By which point the pack caught all but Pinotti. Drujon had crashed, Galland had crashed, and i withdrew him, and no one who could sprint was in the front group any longer. Result? One shit awful race.

Tour du Finistere
A hilly race which we expected that we'd get nothing in as we don't have any great hill riders. However a shock revelation in race gave us a little hope.
Normal crew to race this, with the exclusion of Drujon whose race days are better used on flat stages. Today sees the return of injured rider Mederel (With a fitness of 41 still!)
We set off Morizot on a nice move, and he got off the front, and was soloing away from the break behind him on 65% effort. Which is quite unusual as the break normally chases the first group quite fast. So i slowed him up and let everyone come together. About 2/3rds of the way through they all started sitting on and then attacking. So with Morizot having a full bar of energy i waited for the bigger of the two hills and let him loose.
He quickly got a minutes lead that kept growing to 2mins by the time the bunch caught the rest of the break.
It was not to be however, as he got caught and overtaken by more attackers and was soon swallowed by the main pack, or what was left of it.
With Malacarne having an average sprint, Gaudin having nothing, and Brouzes again with an average sprint all sat in with +4 daily form or +5 (that was my nice surprise of the day!) I had several cards to play. None of them had blue bars left, but they could all sit in easy enough. With a lap to go, Gaudin had his last bottle and attacked, but just couldn't get away. So malacarne and Brouzes went for the sprint and we got a top 10! Not too bad i thought.

Tro-Bro Leon
With Gaudin tipped as a major favourite for todays stage with the big teams only fielding weak teams we decided to keep the pace steady throughout the whole race, and once the cobbles began, the break had no chance in keeping away.
Once on the final section of cobbles, DFL's Nico Mattan had the first dig and got a 30 second gap, with Pioline and Malacarne still with most of their blue bars, they quickly brought him back and helped shred the pack up. With the pack having already caught the break thanks to Cofidis' work, the pack's splitting up resulted in all three of my riders being in the front group, which split further. A big attack from Scheirlinckx (Cofidis) got a minutes gap on Pioline, Malacarne, Gaudin, Renier (Bouygues), and Mangel (AG2r). We thought we'd easily be able to bring the gap back down, but Malacarne and Pioline were by now feeling the pressure, and so Gaudin put in an attack as well, he got only a 11second gap, but it steadily rose over the French duo, and two team mates. Unfortunately Staf is a better time trialist and kept going for a great solo win for him. Gaudin rolled in for his best result so far, 2nd. Malacarne managed to keep up with the French duo, whilst Pioline had to let go. They took 5th and 6th respectively. Auber 93 also took the team prize, so a good day for the team.

Next Up:
25/4 - 1/5 - Le Tour de Bretagne Cycliste.
A rather important race for our sponsors. We're aiming for the mountain's jersey, some good solid top 5-10 placings on stages and a reasonable top 10 overall GC place.
With two ITTs to contend with, the only guys in with a shout of doing well overall for us is Gaudin and Morizot as they are the only two in good form with reasonable time trial skills.
Of course Drujon will be sprinting again, and we hope to see him up there every flat stage.

Stages 1 - 4 have run, and with stage 5 the potentially deciding hilly stage, both Morizot and Gaudin are looking in good shape and have finished each stage with 2 full bottles left so far. Hopefully this will show in their form for the stage.
Malacarne commands a very good lead in the mountains classification and has only come under pressure on stage 4 for points. He still took the maximum regardless! Nor has he yet to run out of energy by the end of a stage, instead just sitting up and rolling in alone within the time limit. This lets him repeat each day in the same aggressive manner. Our sponsors so far are very happy with the performances seen, especially the 2nd place that Matt Drujon got for us, he's still looking for the elusive win however!
n.b. Also i'd quite like to know if the way i present the stage races now are effective? Or would people prefer me to go back to a report each day?

im for the idea of smaller stage races where you arent going to do all that well being presented all at once. perhaps just make the pictures in your report a bit bigger
