USA Cycling made an important announcement. The Junior Naitonal Championships will be held in Southern California! Meaning the young supsersprinter Levi4Life might be able to afford the trip. He Aims for the Junior Criterium title seeing as hills hate him
He commented "I will train hard this year. and to prepare for the pollution down there I will train in my garage, on rollers with my car running."

Good news for people who rarely take careers past February: For the 2008 version of Tour De Langkawi (ie. Tour of Malaysia), they have revamped the route! Hardly groundbreaking news, but i suspect i want to get cracking on making the new stages actually.

Leukemans' B-test is also positive.
CONI will try to suspend following rider: Marzoli (life-time ban), Simone Masciarelli (3 months) and Francesco Di Paolo (2 years), all because of their part in the Oil for Drugs-scandale.
Michael Rasmussen has sued Rabobank and demands to get a large bonus. Rabobank says that he'll not get a penny.
And this has probably already been posted, but anyway -- Quick Step will ride in white next season:

Unibet get some new sponsors
Unibet becomes Cycle Collstrop
Jacques Hanegraaf and Hilaire Van Der Schueren, the former directors of team Unibet.com, will return to the peloton in 2008 with a Professional Continental team to be called Cycle Collstrop.
The team will have a budget of some two million Euro. Collstrop, a Belgian company which produces wooden garden accessories, has been involved in sponsoring cycling teams off and on for many years.
Philip Roodhooft will be the new manager, and Van Der Schueren will be team director. Hanegraaf will deal with the sponsors.
So far, the team has thirteen riders under contract, most of whom are former Unibet riders: Tom Criel, Gilles Suray, Kenny Van Der Schueren, Matthé Pronk, Sergey Kolesnikov, Sergey Lagutin, Marco Marcato and Lucas Persson. A big name rider is also expected to sign soon: "We already have a verbal agreement with Jimmy Casper," Van Der Schueren told Sportwereld. |
