@sutty
and a dedicated team! i took a bit of a risk with the fitness planning, and for now its paying off nicely.
Mikel Hammarling
Himmerland Rundt
Farso - Aars
Ok, now that i've seen the startlist i am worried. Lots of decent sprinters here, and quite a lot of aggressive ones as well. Will definitely make sure we get a rider into that break so we don't have to chase.
198km to go
Ok, here we go. Stay up front to counter moves. We need a man clear
196km
Ok first move. NSP, TET and MMM i can see. See if they get a margin, then follow
194km
Karl you tag onto that move now
192km
Ok that wasn't the one. Sit in for now Karl. Rest keep looking
188km
Attacks from NSP, TRS and MMM again. And some others, too big leave it.
179km
More attacks, CWO are in there. TIK as well. 10+ riders... Yep its SKT pulling it back in
178km
Yanto, you up for it? Then away you go! Got Berekzin going with you. Getting a god gap now
172km
CWO, NSP, TRS and MMM want a rider across. No gap coming, but SKT keep working, with CWO now.
155km
Unlucky Yanto, sit in rest up. Karl move up, its your turn again.
153km
Accelerate through the turns Karl! Henrichsen(TRS) and Simon(UNA) following. Good gap now 1'00+ and going out.
145km
Ok, Bugge(TJM), Cort(GLU) and Jacobsen(OHR) will join you in a moment. This move is sticking, well done Karl. Settle in, its gonna be a long ride.
56km
Faller! Its a TIK rider. They are up and on way. You guys ok? Good just watch for damp patches.
43km
Mortensen(VCP) attacks! Karl, expect him to bridge around 30k mark at this pace. Rest of you last time to feed and grab water.
26km
Peloton at 1'00. Stretch those legs Karl!
12km
Ok thats the catch. Well done Karl great ride. Matt follow Michal follow Rico follow Barker. Dont, DONT, hit front yet.
5km
SKT looking strong, as are CWO. Just match them Yanto, as you are. Perfect so far
3km
Starting to fall back a bit. Rico open it up!
1000m
Matt delay, DELAY IT. Michal you're gonna need to make him a gap!
500m
Matt i can't see you! Just give it everything!!! Others fading now!
FINISH
Where the hell did you come from! That was amazing, just like McEwen used to do! That takes real skill Matt, real skill!

Comment
Well that was an exciting day. I've watched the replay ten times now and i still can't see the gap Matt came through! That was incredible riding by him. The lead-out was fine, but the rest of the sprinters went so early they swamped us under the 1km mark. Karl put in a good showing out front, he is looking stronger every day at the moment. Today was just a good day, and i've learnt to trust the riders. They know what they are doing.
Its been a few weeks since i last blogged sorry. But as both Mikel and I were at Himmerland i let him take over for that race. And i think he did a good job of telling you about the weekend and a general update. It's nice to read back over his race report as well to see what he actually thinks. Just don't mention i read his blog, otherwise i'm sure he will make me train more or something.
Right so news. Ermmm.... Not a lot. Tour Doon Hame went well as you saw. Was allowed an attack to steal that GC 5th again. It's a tactic that works and i'm certain we will be using it again next year. The rest of the lads did a good job for Luke as well... well to be honest it was a fantastic job! There was also the Himmerland Rundt last weekend. Spent a day in the break and lasted a long time. Took the pressure off us to chase and Matt duly obliged with a terrific win.
Anyway, actual news about me... Ermmm... Not a lot, again. Wow i need to get out more. Just a fair amount of training between races to keep the form up. We did some tests at HQ and while i am fitter at the moment i havn't improved that much from the start of the season. But i guess thats to be expected, it will come with time. Yeah, so really not a lot of news.
This time last year i put in what i think was my best performance. It wasn't as high profile as the ToB Stage 1, it wasn't as high ranking as Tour Doon Hame. But to defy the peloton that long over such a tough parcours was fantastic. 3000m to the line. It may not sound like a lot, but it might as well be the start line all over again. We hit this race with decent form so it should be a good one. The team includes myself, Lavery, Bialoblocki, Thwaites, Barker, Rogers, Cronshaw and Rowe. Its a Premier Calendar race so full 8 man line up. 2012 went to a sprint so we are planning around that, clearly.
So thats an update on my boring, cycling-centric life. I will eventually have something fun to update you all on, promise.
@sutty
well he was signed as sprint leader, and is one of the best at .2 level
Karl Hammarling
Rutland-Melton Classic
Oakham - Melton Mowbray
Team: Lavery, Thwaites, Cronshaw, Rowe, Barker, Bialoblocki, Rogers and Hammarling
206km to go - The race roles out of Oakham. The weather is not great, cold and wet
200km - After a warm up the attacks begin. Hunt(UKY) leads away with Sybrandy(IGS), Alafaci(LET), Bodnar(BGZ), Dvosky(BAU) and Rogers on his tail.
195km - The favorites teams seem happy to let them free, so those 6 form the break.
114km - Hammarling punctures on the cobbles. The team car swiftly aids him out, and Karl is soon back up with the rest of the team.
42km - Just as SKT up the pace disaster strikes... Rowe hits the deck! He gets up quickly enough, lets hope he is ok, but he is right down the back of the peloton
35km - Barker has dropped back to aid Rowe but it's obvious his day is done.
26km - Reihs(GLU) is the first favorite to show his hand, and quickly scampers across the the break.
16km - SKT pull the race back together and the pace ramps up
7km - Eeckhout(SKT) puts in an acceleration. He gets 20" and settles down to push on
5km - Hammarling pulls Eeckhout back all by himself, then presses on tearing holes in the peloton behind!
1000m - The main sprinters are in full flow, except Cronshaw who is still tucked up behind Thwaites
500m - Cronshaw sweeps past Thwaites as they exit the final turn. No-one is close to either of them!
FINISH - And Cronshaw takes the win, ahead of Thwaites for a Node4 1-2! Reihs takes thrid in a close group sprint. While the same time was awarded to most, Node4 tore the race apart with the lead out.

We've done it again! That was a fantastic race for the team. Rogers took all pressure off us in the chase. The first time we had a rider on the front was with less than 20k to go. And my pull! Oh my god i have never been that fast before! 7km down to 2.5! That was incredible, i LOVE this race! And a 1-2! WOW! Just amazing stuff.
Ok, so the season is now at the 1st May. This seems as good a time as any to give a brief look at Node4 Rexona's rankings.

Europcar lead the way thanks to a lot of .HC success. NettApp are 4pts ahead of us at the moment. Also means we sit inside the Top10. Rapha are a long way back, and the other brits even further.

Phinney is a surprise leader, but they all come in PCT and CT races. Rowe is in a large group at 3 wins, ahead of both Rapha and NettApps best riders.
So currently things are going rather well. We are proving to be quite the force at CT level. The almost sole focus on .2 ranked races has its advantages, but may see us miss promotion come the end of the season. But right now we are 14th and look to be in for a great fight. Bring on the rest of the season.
I'll do another update on the 1st August.
@Ian Butler
You can mention it, i'm not really that bothered. He would probably be flattered rather than angry. And frankly i can hardly say no to him, he's my boss!
Couple of Quick-Sim results here just to keep things moving.
Tour of the Reservoir
Team: Rowe, Thwaites, Rogers, Bialoblocki, Clarke, Sampson and Kwiatkowski
Ross Edgar (IGS) won the race, while Rowe finished in 4th and Thwaites in 9th.
A very acceptable result.
Ronde van Overijssel
Team: Lavery, Barker, Hammarling, Davis, Cronshaw and Williams
Williams did manage to get into the days break.
Ladin Livshits (TIK) won the race, while Lavery finished 17th and Hammarling 32nd.
Not great, but as a form builder for Lincoln perfectly fine.
Hi, i'm back with a blog! It's been a couple of weeks, and there is a whole lot of action coming up!
I don't have much to reflect on Rutland, except it was just an awesome day for the team. Absolutely perfect. Overijssel not as perfect, but as it was just to keep our race fitness up no worries. Those guys at the Tour of the Reservoir put in a great day again getting into the Top10 twice, and keeping our season flying high.
But now things get really important. Tomorrow is the Lincoln GP. In itself not a major race in terms of points, but it is the top UK event after the Tour of Britain. It is a tough race. Many many climbs of the Michalgate hill, which is steep and cobbled. It will tear any race apart, and we just have to be near the front when that happens. Last year Marcin did well to get a 6th, and we hope for a Top5 this year.
But after that we are pretty much straight into the Halfords Tour Series. 11 Criterium races in towns across the country. Its fast, tough and long. We are really targeting these races, with almost all of us aiming to peak in this coming month. A strong set of results here will set us up perfectly for the rest of the season. Because we are so going hard for these races i won't be updating any blogs until they finish... unless something huge happens.
So thats the look ahead at a big month for the team. A good month will make the season, a bad month and its all but over in a hunt for promotion.
Trying a different style of report, so let me know what you think
Karl Hammarling
Team: Lavery, Thwaites, Barker, Bialoblocki, Hammarling, Kwiatkowski, Rogers, Davis
Welcome to ITV4's coverage of the Lincoln GP!
This is the top event of the UK Premier Calendar, and attracts the big names of Continental cobble racing. Amongst those names are the russian's Livshits, of TIK, and Trussov, of RIJ. The danish Veldhuizen, of RB3, and the belgian Eeckhout, of SKT. But there is also a whole host of local UK talent in attendance.
Wilkinson, UKY and Bennet, SKT look good along with Grivell-Mellor, RCS. But this seasons powerhouses are N4R, with Lavery and Thwaites.
The race takes place over 13 laps around Lincoln, with the defining feature being the cobbled climb of Michalgate. Its short, only a few hundered meters long, but is steep averaging 8%. This will decide the winner of the stage, and separate the men from the boys.
Before we hand over to the commentary team, lets catch up on the situation.
There are 50km to go, and we have a break of 8 men clear out front. They went away on lap 2 and include Mazzi(UNA), Miller(JSH), Snook(MGT), Polivoda(ARH), Goovaerts(MMM), Durant(JVC), Zangerle(LET) and van der Weijst(CJP). They reached a maximum gap of 5'20 at the halfway stage.
Currently they have 1'16 to a solo chasing Grivell-Mellor, and a further 1'31 to the Peloton. Eeckhout is in a chase group another 1'45 down.
Right, over to the commentary box.
Thanks, you join us with 50km to go for the break. The peloton is about 3km behind and the chase is on. Its RB3 and TIK doing the majority of the work back there.
We crest the Michalgate with 44km to go, and the pressure from TIK and RB3 is causing severe splits behind. Not only that but the break is now only 20" ahead.
It looks like we have 40 riders or so in that lead group. Eeckhout is there, as are all the other favorites.... The biggest name casualty seems to be Barker(N4R).
Ok so we have 20km to run now! RIJ are pushing the pace on, and this lead group is down to 31 riders. TIK are also aiding the push.
13km left, just over 1 lap to go, and UKY hit the front. They pull Wilkinson to the front as we hit the Michalgate for the penultimate time! I can see N4R up the front as well. Both TIK and RIJ have been swamped just before the narrow climb!
Ok over the top with 12km to the line, and Lavery has made a move. He summits with 15" to the pack. Its still UKY on the front, but they won't have the power to bring him back. TIK and RIJ try to battle forward but the narrow roads are not helping!
10km to go and the chase is on now! Livshits is pulling himself, along with Trussov. Veldhuizen is stalking a few wheels back. N4R are just sitting in watching and waiting. More riders are dropping out the back as well due to the high pace.
5km left for the sole leader! Lavery holds 1'04 over the chasing pack. He pushes on hard! Livshits takes over at the head of the chase again and instantly N4R line up behind him!
1000m left for Lavery. He still has 1'04 as he turns towards the climb for the last time. He rises out of the saddle and pushes for the line!
Behind its still Livshits leading the way, with N4R just being pulled along!
And Philip Lavery takes a solo win here in Lincoln!!
Livshits holds on to second from Thwaites who tops off the podium!

Well yes... The results speak for themselves... We knew that the climb was so narrow, that if you hit it in the first ten riders, you'd finish in the Top10. So we just tagged onto Livshits and followed him all the way, ensuring plenty of success. I was also surprised Phil stayed ahead. He looked in trouble early on, but i guess he just rode through it, for a brilliant win! Was still a tough day with high pace being set by the Europeans for all of it. Also odd there weren't any attacks... Oh well
