Roelandts joins the Lierse train
Rumours about the signing started a few rounds ago, but now it's official, Lierse - Pizza Ullo and Jurgen Roelandts reached an agreement for the next year. He's the kind of guy we expect to be there until the final kilometer. Classic experience, speed, and overall toughness. He'll be helping Thompson and Gilbert in the classics, bring water bottles in the GT's, and lead out our best sprinters. While not doing all that, he can get a few stage wins on his own with his qualities.
As you can see, Jurgen is a major shift in our transfer policy. We decided we have enough team leaders, and are going for some helping hands now. Expect a similar signing in the next round!

Second super-domestique signed
As with Jurgen Roelandts, this guy was on our list for a very long time. We're glad that we have signed Dries Devenyns, as our luxury helper. This guy can do hills, mountains, cobbles, flats, doesn't matter for him! We believe Dries can be ready to help out team leaders an entire season, whether is a classic or a grand tour.
Next round it'll be someone younger again. A few of the people we were hoping for got drafted already, but plenty more to come. We'll be showing you some statistics as well later this week!

Some statistics after 10 riders
Since one third of our team is complete now, we though it might interest you to see some statistics.
50% of our team is 26 or younger.
This is definitely something we're aiming for. We might even go a bit further here. Young riders will have their chances at Lierse - Pizza Ullo! You can also look at the long term contracts for Nizzolo and Démare to illustrate this point
40% of our team is Belgian
Also something we were aiming for, we'd like to advertise as a local product, so our fans feel more connected to the riders. If we end up between 35% and 50% after the final round, we're a very happy team!
20% of out team Italian
The same story for our Italian sponsor and fans, 20% is something we're really aiming for. We're hoping it will be between 15% and 25% by the end of the draft, and of course continue this policy in the next years.
30% of our team is Non-European
While our major goal is to sign local talents, we're also trying to internationalise cycling. Especialy Pizza Ullo is interested in the international market, so we're trying to make cycling popular outside Europe. Thompson and Gonzalez could provide a major boost here, when they break through.

Matteo Rabottini joins the team
It was time for another 3 year contract draft pick, and you all know what that means for Lierse - Pizza Ullo: young talent. Italian cyclist Matteo Rabottini is Capable of doing both mountains and hills, he will be a great aid for Gilbert in the Ardennes and for or GC guys. He's only 24, so there's still a lot of room for improvement. We're hoping he'll be winning a lot in the future, and why not already this season. His skills give him enough chances to be a free element.
For the next draft pick, it's still a bit unsure, as our shortlist is shrinking each round. We are looking in Belgium for some riders, but there's plenty of Italians left. Also, it's been a while, but we might draft a surprise as well. You'll learn which ones we're after, after the holiday break.
