This link convinces me that Uran wasn't bought, even if Vino tried to pay. Uran would have been the second gold medallist in any sport in the history of Columbia. Vino doesn't have pockets that deep.
"Hey Pedro, do you remember who came second last year? Of course you don't. Nobody remembers the second" - Pacho RodrÃguez, one of ColOmbia's greatest riders
Kolobnev would also have become the 2nd russian to win LBL. But money talks. And Vino has a lot of it.

"Second place" is not the same as "second person to ever win a Olympic gold medal for his country" |

I can't name an Italian cyclist over 33 years old that hasn't got any doping history... |

Yeah, Pinotti. I was actually thinking about Italian riders in Italian teams and didn't remember him. |

Remember what Vaughters taught us about connecting the dots?

David George, a South African ex-postal rider has been caught with an EPO positive thanks to a targeted test based on his bio passport.
The South African cycling community seem to be saying that it was an open secret, in which case it's disappointing it's taken so long. His teams sponsor (a bank) have also pulled out from cycling
On the plus side, there has been near complete condemnation, and the bio passport is clearly is getting results, even in the poorly funded parts of the world.

Yeah it is good news indeed and should erase some scepticism.

There's always complete condemnation for the small names, and people who are easy to throw under the bus, like Riccò. Agreed on the rest.

Sure, but he was a pretty big fish in South African cycling, former nat champ, Olympian, etc.
I guess the fact that he immediately owned up makes it easier to wash your hands, but on twitter there were people saying he's being at it since he was 19. Seriously, that stuff needs to be reported.
Also, i'm glad that I only started following cycling once he was no longer South Africa's best cyclist, as otherwise I would feel much more betrayed.

Bio passport is a great tool and this is apparently a success story of targeted tests as a result of suspicious blood values but agree on the reluctance to deal with high profile riders using the tool.
As I understand it (correct me if I'm wrong) the UCI have the final say on whether to take suspicious results any further and launch further investigation...at the same time as promoting the sport (very dodgy ground in itself I know!)...conflict of interests anyone?
Great tool, enforcement desperately needs to be handed over. |

Correct. Of course either the UCI should be fully cleaned up (ha!) or all anti-doping procedures handed over to the WADA, but still we should aknowledge that the bio passport is possibly the most useful anti-doping tool currently available. It would be even better in non-corrupt hands, indeed.

And thats why I suspect drugs isne not cyclings problem, but sport in general.
In other nees.
Cavendish is rather unhappy to see Ferrari het a world tour squad place.
And agmen are being sued for 780million dollars. I'm more amazed at the fact someone doesnt see a problem with the creators of epo sponsoring a cycling race. I previously was totally unaware of what Agmen was other then it sponsored tour of cali. |
