Race Objectives
No clear objectives or specific goals for this race. Just happy to receive a wild card for a HC race in our home country. We don't have strong punchers or a strong sprinter for this terrain, so getting in the breaks should keep the sponsors happy.

Race Highlights:

Stage 1
Spoiler

i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TofSA/PCM0008_zpsce55ba12.png

No highlights for us. A very quiet stage. The final lumps proved to much for Abdallah too handle. We also had nobody in the break
i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TofSA/TofSA018_zps2a96474b.jpg
Hoffman (Metinvest - Emirates) a took convincing sprint victory

Stage 2
Spoiler
i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TofSA/PCM0001_zps328a8b69.png

Only mentionable result for us was Ngock Yves Ngue and Adrien finishing 9th and 13th respectively in the bunch sprint. However, earlier in the day JC Nel managed to get in the initial break. He wasn't as strong as his companions, but nonetheless he stuck with them for most of the stage.

i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TofSA/TofSA034_zps0a1f0763.jpg
In a few seasons' time we should see JC develop into quite a handy rider. (74MO 74 HILL 80FTR)

Stage 3
Spoiler
i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TofSA/PCM0010_zpsc834af8d.png

No result for us in the sprint finish. Strangely enough most of the 'pure' sprinters (besides for Hoffman) struggled a lot during this tour, besides for the final stage. We did see some positive, attacking riding from our youngsters. Louis Meintjes and once again JC Nel. Louis managed to stick the break of the day with 4 others.

i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TofSA/TofSA058_zps547af2fe.jpg
Nel crests the first climb in 2nd place.

i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TofSA/TofSA059_zpsdc21bd3c.jpg
Meintjes eventually made the break of the day

i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TofSA/TofSA071_zps6873c12d.jpg
Hoffman was very dominant once again. Grabbing more bonus seconds

Stage 4
Spoiler
i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TofSA/PCM0011_zps4878b87e.png

Once again the sprint proved too tough for Abdallah even though he tagged along in one of the sprint trains. Only managed a top 20. Also, no rider in the break, so a very boring stage for us once again!

i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TofSA/TofSA081_zps3dfd9cfb.jpg
Abdallah featured in his Egyptian National Champ jersey, but never had the legs in the sprint

i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TofSA/TofSA086_zps9e4689a8.jpg
Nick van der Lijke (HTC) takes a surprise victory, beating stage favourite and race leader, Nolan Hoffman

Stage 5
Spoiler
i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TofSA/PCM0012_zpscec33aeb.png

The infamous stage that caused major upset with some managers. It was eventually replayed and unfortunately for us the 2nd time round wasn't nearly as successful as the first time. We didn't have any notable results to mention.

i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TofSA/TSA5/TSA548_zpsc6e179f4.jpg
Nicolas Roche (ING) took the stage. Hoffman was truly inspired by being the race leader and finished in the front group, retaining his lead.

Stage 6
Spoiler
i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TofSA/PCM0013_zps117e665b.png

Another stage that ended with Froome (Jaguar) getting a small gap on the final climb, held it on the descent and finished just ahead of a large group containing race leader, Hoffman. Not much to report for MTN besides for Nel going on the attack, but never made it to the front break. Ngock finished in the top 20 once agian.

i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TSA605_zpsa96bec79.jpg
Nel has been very active this tour which bodes well for his future development as a breakaway specialist.

i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TSA631_zps8051fbe8.jpg
Froome took a solo victory into the quaint little town of Franschoek

i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TSA632_zps715dd938.jpg
Adrien and Ngock finished in the 2nd bunch containing all the favourites

Stage 7
Spoiler
i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TofSA/PCM0014_zps968cd4f8.png

It was a cold, rainy day that turned out to the only day where Abdallah could manage some sort of a result. Meintjes got into the early break again. The wet conditions saw a number of MTN riders hitting the deck in the final kilometers, luckily not affect Ngock's position in the overall. He finished the tour in 17th place overall.

i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TSA706_zps9702ea3a.jpg

Meintjes, Africa's next big thing, found himself in the brak again

i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TSA717_zpse6a07a43.jpg
Despite being badly positioned, Abdallah got into the top 10 in the final sprint.

i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TSA715_zpsbd25f554.jpg
Nolan Hoffman was the surprise winner overall. Keeping the leader's jersey from day one. No doubt he kept the locals happy.

i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad301/mb2612/TSA718_zps9175b781.jpg
A number of MTN riders were victims of the wet conditions and finished their tour off with a painful, stinging shower.

Summary:
We didn't expect much from this tour. We at least had two top 10 finishes and Ngock found himself in the top 20 of the GC. JC and Louis both impressed by getting into some of the daily breaks, boding well for their future development and their future on this team.

Race Objectives
Although it's not an important race for us, we expected at least a Top 5 in the GC, a Top 3 with some luck and hopefully one or two stage wins. Rodas is our leader and was a named favourite for a solid GC position. It is a relatively weak field with just over 60 riders in the peleton. Expect us to feature in the mountains and very quiet on flat stages as we don't have a sprinter entered. We definitely had high hopes for this race.

Stage 1 -Report and Results
Spoiler
img90.imageshack.us/img90/7204/met01.png

We don't expect much from this stage as we don't have a puncher or a sprinter (if the bunch was to come back together). It started off very quiet with no early break, but the result was one to savour for our team!

img138.imageshack.us/img138/1415/met02.jpg
A very quiet start and no early attempts for a breakaway.

img856.imageshack.us/img856/7083/met06.jpg
Eventually Lutsenko tried his along with Gougeard (Evian). They were later joined by Di Luca (JK Cycling), Feng and Yeung (Armavia)

img805.imageshack.us/img805/9073/met13.jpg
img600.imageshack.us/img600/9831/met20.jpg
They were caught on the penultimate slope, but Lutsenko stuck there and attacked again on the final incline along with Di Luca.

img594.imageshack.us/img594/1980/met22.jpg
Lutsenko attacks and leaves Di Luca behind on the last descent!

img62.imageshack.us/img62/4600/met24.png
He kept his lead and finished ahead of the back! Great finish by the youngster loaned from Pendleton's!

img571.imageshack.us/img571/1352/met26.jpg
Unfortunately Rodas was caught napping along with some other favourites and lost about 30 seconds.

Stage 2 -Report and Results
Spoiler
img525.imageshack.us/img525/4503/met02.png

An important day for us. We'll be looking to defend Lutsenko's lead as well as keep Rodas from losing more time. Unfortunately Lutsenko had to sprint early to prevent his leader's jersey from being lost to the breakaway. This left him out of contention of a good finish, but nonetheless, we stayed out of trouble and kept the jersey.

img824.imageshack.us/img824/9508/met0206.jpg
MTN was doing a good job to keep Rodas and Lutsenko safe.

img13.imageshack.us/img13/1895/met0212.jpg
The final sprint was chaotic!

img809.imageshack.us/img809/5826/met0214.png
Win goes to the loan break, Suryadi (Armavia), but the jersey stayed with MTN.

Copy of stage 2. Keep leader's jersey for most likely the last day and keep Rodas out of trouble.

img715.imageshack.us/img715/9306/met0303.jpg
MTN's domestiques are no strangers to the front end.

img17.imageshack.us/img17/804/met0306.jpg
MTN thinning out the field, clawing back the break.

img145.imageshack.us/img145/2457/met0311.jpg
img832.imageshack.us/img832/3594/met0313.jpg
Lots of attacks flying out, putting MTN under pressure, but we decide to let Rodas counter while we continue setting a high pace.

img339.imageshack.us/img339/215/met0316.jpg
MTN brought back all the dangerous riders and tried to gain on the loan break, Feng.

img541.imageshack.us/img541/3038/met0322.png
Lutsenko had to sprint early again to close the gap, but Rodas managed to grab 4th.

img405.imageshack.us/img405/5816/met0401.png

The first mountain stage and Lutsenko will most likely lose his lead, but we were hoping Rodas could finish strong amongst the favourites.

img72.imageshack.us/img72/3756/met0403.jpg
Lutsenko got in the action at the early intermediate sprints.

img20.imageshack.us/img20/6296/met0406.jpg

img402.imageshack.us/img402/7668/met0409.jpg

Martinez (Kenya Air) eventually got a gap and was chased by Rodas.

img267.imageshack.us/img267/1134/met0427.png
img834.imageshack.us/img834/2065/met0424.jpg
Rodas was unable to close the gap and finished in 3rd place along with favourite, Rohregger.

img189.imageshack.us/img189/1545/met0430.jpg

img189.imageshack.us/img189/7172/met0617.jpg
No waiting for the bunch as it's within 20km from the finish!

img23.imageshack.us/img23/2425/met0618.jpg
MTN tried everything to get Rodas back, but the gap kept growing.

img694.imageshack.us/img694/2499/met0627.jpg

img252.imageshack.us/img252/4984/met0704.jpg
JC Nel was motivated to do something after he was given a free card after yesterday's disaster.

img248.imageshack.us/img248/7809/met0802.png

Another day for the big climbers. A massive climb tops it off. Maybe Rodas can redeem himself after his crash...

img849.imageshack.us/img849/3442/met0807.jpg
Mihaylov was the day's lone ranger.

img20.imageshack.us/img20/6148/met0808.jpg
Kenya Air was in control of things.

img593.imageshack.us/img593/267/met0812.jpg

img29.imageshack.us/img29/8067/met0816.jpg
However, the bunch isn't keen on letting the break go. Magna brings the lead down.

img9.imageshack.us/img9/7996/met0822.jpg
Lutsenko is struggling and looks to lose his Best Young Rider jersey to Alizadeh.

img820.imageshack.us/img820/7573/met0824.jpg
Kenya and Magna set a cracking pace and caught the Rodas group.

img839.imageshack.us/img839/2163/met0825.jpg

img526.imageshack.us/img526/2152/met0838.png
Rohregger took the win ahead of Martinez and Mestre.

img19.imageshack.us/img19/5004/met0841.jpg
Rodas lost even more time to the GC contenders and Lutsenko lost his 2nd spot in the GC as well as his best young rider jersey. Another demoralising day for our squad.

img267.imageshack.us/img267/7706/met0902.png

Another big mountain stage. We don't really know what to expect. Rodas is a far way back on the GC so maybe he'll be allowed to go from early on.

img546.imageshack.us/img546/1888/met0904.jpg
img210.imageshack.us/img210/3686/met0905.jpg
Rodas breaks away very early along with Landa (Evian)

img547.imageshack.us/img547/1271/met0907.jpg
Rodas and Landa battled out for the KoM jersey. Their lead is 9'20" at the top of the 1st Cat1 climb.

img22.imageshack.us/img22/985/met0911.jpg
Landa edges out Rodas on the 2nd last climb of the day.

img59.imageshack.us/img59/610/met0912.jpg
At the foot of the final climb their gap is 11 minutes. They have about 25km of climbing to the finish.

img802.imageshack.us/img802/4861/met0915.jpg
Back to the bunch: the pace was too high for Lutsenko and he was dropped early on.

img689.imageshack.us/img689/3356/met0917.jpg
The main field begins to split and Ihlenfeldt is in the 2nd main group.

img844.imageshack.us/img844/180/met0919.jpg
However, Ihlenfeldt quickly finds himself back in the favourites group. This young domestique is really impressing everyone today.

img707.imageshack.us/img707/116/met0920.jpg
Rodas gets dropped by Landa with 8km left to race. He is still a bit spent after yesterday's effort.

img853.imageshack.us/img853/206/met0923.jpg
A short while back down the road the main bunch has been shattered and a very select group has formed. Including Ihlenfeldt!

img580.imageshack.us/img580/9057/met0924.jpg
img607.imageshack.us/img607/9154/met0925.jpg
Ihlenfedlt is really impressing and is showing his strength amongst some of the best riders in the race!

img441.imageshack.us/img441/9268/met0926.jpg
img22.imageshack.us/img22/2702/met0931.jpg
Ihlenfedlt remains in the group that is chasing Landa, Rodas, Rohregger and Martinez.

img812.imageshack.us/img812/5816/met0933.jpg
With close to 1km left Rohregger catches Rodas and quickly drops him. Rodas has absolutely nothing left in the tank!

img507.imageshack.us/img507/4582/met0937.png
Landa took the win. It's a pitty that Rodas couldn't match his pace.

img59.imageshack.us/img59/8194/met0941.jpg
Rodas ended up finishing in 5th, gaining some time for the GC, but nothing significant.

img41.imageshack.us/img41/5889/met0942.jpg
And the surprise of the day: Ihlenfeldt! A very solid 8th place finish for him. He finished ahead of the likes of Ndbri!

img33.imageshack.us/img33/3958/met1001.png

The last and final mountain stage. This should be a good indicator of the final GC, but a time trial still remains. Unfortunately, our best time-trialer, Perry, didn't finish yesterday's stage.

There was a constant flurry of attacks up the final climb, but Magna managed to keep everything in once piece. No attacks from MTN, though.

img90.imageshack.us/img90/5421/met1022.jpg
Suryadi (Armavia) took the surprise win! Pretty much a bunch sprint!

img694.imageshack.us/img694/6074/met1024.jpg
Nothing to mention for MTN. All our riders finished in the main group.

img820.imageshack.us/img820/617/met1101.png

The dreaded time trial! MTN has no strong TTers in their entire roster, nevermind this squad. Our only hopes for a Top 5 stage finish, Perry, dropped out of the race. Hopefully Craig Lewis can get us a top 10 finish. Our other priority is keeping Ihlenfeldt (9th) in the top 10 and maybe getting Rodas (12th) into the top 10.

Craig Lewis was considered a candidate for the stage, but his legs weren't great after all the work he did for the team the past 10 days. He at least managed an 8th place.

img12.imageshack.us/img12/8309/met1110.jpg
Lutsenko had a decent time trial finishing in 13th.

img844.imageshack.us/img844/5179/met1113.jpg
Ihlenfeldt absolutely hates anything with the word "time" in it. He finished 44th (out of 49) and slipped down to 12th.

img836.imageshack.us/img836/6226/met1141.jpg
Rodas fared better, but missed the top 10 by 15 seconds!

The final stage. Just happy to get this tour over with. Luck wasn't on our side this time around. Oh well, at least the luck can't get worse, right? No, it can.

img402.imageshack.us/img402/7091/met1202.jpg
Nobody was keen on setting the pace.

Eventually Giacomo Scarponi (Sauber) attacked. He won by 30 mins!

img59.imageshack.us/img59/6198/met1217.jpg
More bad luck for us as Rodas hits the deck! AGAIN! When will that clown learn his lesson about riding at the back?

img200.imageshack.us/img200/3676/met1225.jpg
Rodas drops down a spot in the GC as a result of the crash.

Summary:
Well, we didn't expect much from this tour and things went pear-shaped after the first 5 days, but we walked away with a stage win.

Meintjes looks like a future ProTour leader, well done on signing him.

He might be able to beat Galta one day, you never know Cool Pfft

Those talents. Great stuff. Btw, how do you calculate that? Is it based on potential or experience points?

Take the stat gains file and choose a training for every xp level gain?

That's one of the cornerstones of this game, I wonder how you did your transfers without knowing a thing about the future of non-maxed riders Wink

Avin Wargunnson
Meintjes is indeed great talent, i am still jealous you signed him, but when i stole Hoffman from you, you have at least the other South African star, the future one. Smile

But if you ever want to sell him... Pfft
I'll be back

aidanvn13
@cio Thanks for that! Forgot about it Wink

@tyrrion and froomedog He certainly is a talent! Just have to wait like another 3 years Sad

@avin Never selling Meintjes Wink But maybe Doper Hoffman will want to come to a real South African team next year? Pfft

Long awaited word from the manager

Hey everyone

I apologise for being fairly inactive this last while. I have been rather busy at school, as the last month was a test month and all my other time was spent on designing jerseys for various databases. I now however, have more time on my hands again. I promise to keep up to date with reports from now on. I don't feel that there will be any major recaps of the past two months as there has been nothing noteworthy to report.

From now on all races will have a report and months will have both a preview and report. I'll begin with a preview for a May and a report will soon follow for Donetsk GP.

May Preview

Comments
We go to this race with the hope that Abdallah could get a fairly decent result. Most of the best sprinters in the division are present, so we don't believe we'll be able to achieve anything exceptional. Any points scored will be satisfactory!

Comments:
We come here with a fairly strong squad. Our leader, Rodas, is present and we hope he can perform on the mountain stage. He also has Stefan, who performed surprisingly well in the Middle East Tour, and Louis Meintjes, Africa's next superstar, for support. We also hope to see Abdallah banking in on some points on the flat stages.

Comments:
Hopefully Tyler will do us proud here. He is a decent sprinter, but we're unsure how he'll perform against the very best in the division, as they'll more than likely be present. We brought a strong lead-out train for him with Ben Youcef Abdalla, Uwimana, Fouche and even Rabie could help out.

Comments:
This is a race on our home continent, so we hope to do well here. We brought 2 cards to play, in Abdallah and Day as they are both capable of top 10 performances. Ben Youcef Abdalla, Rabie and Uwimana are here to offer valuable support to our fast men. Ngue is also an interesting addition, perhaps if he formed part of the breakaway.

Comments:
We have a decent squad here. Tyler and/or Ben Youcef can collect some points here. Maybe Ngock can score as well, with a bit of luck of course. All in all, not any real expectations, so any decent result is welcomed.

That's quite a strong squad for Romania, considering there are 9 race days. I decided to send Ndbri and Schinker though, so the same could be said about my team.

I wish you good luck, your team is secretly one of my favorites even if you are my biggest rival Pfft

Apart from Donetsk, we'll meet up at Norway.

@froomedog We hope to get some decent results in Romania Wink

Also, I must admit. I made some bad choices and amateur mistakes regarding my squad and race schedule, but oh well, if all turns out as planned, I'll have a solid squad next year...

Firstly, we're very happy with the result! We would've been satisfied with a top 10, but we ended up almost winning the race! Abdallah out-smarted many of the bigger names by starting his sprint early and almost caught Dall'Antonia, who was the smartest on the day. This is how the final kilometres played out:

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/Donetsk%20GP/13_zps48a4aebf.jpg
Dal'Antonia surprised everyone by attacking with about 12km to go. He quickly managed to pry open a big gap on the bunch.

Close, but no cigar. Dal'Antonia takes a big win for Mobil

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/Donetsk%20GP/22_zps3fa94a48.jpg
Nonetheless, we are delighted with Abdallah's performance. The 2 top men surprised most of the favourites today who were forced to fight for the scraps.
