Nuyens can definitely ride top 5, best of luck Wink

Lets hope the Team can deliver a great result Wink

Alakagom
Thanks guys, let's hope Nueyns can indeed deliver Smile

SweatyViking, it might be so indeed. But there's also nationalistic view and I think it's more realistic to see our Australians fighting for King of Mountain Jersey in Tour Down Under than any other riders Pfft

Prospect - Clare

First stage of this year's Tour Down Under is mostly flat with few hills that shouldn’t cause any major problems for the sprinters. We should expect a bunch sprint, but the last hill will give advantage to likes of Bennati or Matthews.

i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m537/Alakagom/PCM0012-1.jpg

50km/h winds makes the peleton strung out today. Will be tough 100km ahead of the peleton. Vinther and Marycz will do the job of protecting Nuyens and Cantwell to save up little energy for the finale

i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m537/Alakagom/PCM0027-1.jpg

Navardauskas ( Garmin ) Graziato ( Lampre ) Dehaes ( Lotto ) & Canuti ( Liquigas ) form today's break. It's the Italian, Canuti who wins the King of Mountain points and will take the lead in the classification.

i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m537/Alakagom/PCM0031.jpg

As predicted it's GreenEdge and Radioshack running the bussiness in the peleton. Davis and Bennati should both fancy their chances today. There will be some pressure on GreenEdge to perform, after failing to score a win at the National Champiships.

i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m537/Alakagom/PCM0032.jpg

With 2km to go Nueyns and Cantwell decide to join the Orica's GreenEdge's train driving it for Alan Davis. On the other side we have the Radioshack train who's looking to challenge GreenEdge today. However it won't be Cantwell's day who's already struggling to follow Nueyns's wheel,

i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m537/Alakagom/PCM0034-1.jpg

500 metres to go and it's all to play for ! Unfortunately GreenEdge's train failed a little and Nuyens got boxed in at the end and found himself not in the greatest position.

i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m537/Alakagom/PCM0036.jpg

Daniele Bennati takes very marginal victory beating Swift and Hondo right on the line. All Radioshack's work paid off at the end. GreenEdge will be disappointed to finish outside the Top 10, Davis finishing on 11th. Nueyns chose the wrong train, but still finished on decent 17th - which for a non-sprinter makes for a good start.

Easy stage for our team today. It's our first race of the season and we didn't expect much. Cantwell didn't feel great and faded in the sprint, while Nueyns finished safely in the bunch, scoring decent Top 20. All looks good for tomorrow hilly stage.

Well, most important thing today was probably not losing any time Smile Good job! Pfft

valverde321
Yeah, what Ian said!

Would have thought Morkov and Roberts would do a bit better though....

sutty68
A steady start in Australia Wink

Alakagom
Indeed, Ian & Sutty, and we did that Smile Well Morkov and Roberts rolled in the bunch, didn't even sprint as I saw no point really.

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/daily/AUS.png Tour Down Under - Stage 2
Lobethal – Stirling

i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m537/Alakagom/stage2.jpg

Second stage is also the 2nd toughest stage at the TdU. 4 laps around Stirling will make sure pure sprinters will find it hard to win here. There'll be lots of attacks coming from GC contenders here, but expect few teams trying to pull it for a bunch sprint. Bennati seems in great shape and Radioshack will try to do just that today.

i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m537/Alakagom/report1.jpg

i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m537/Alakagom/PCM0040-1.jpg

Troels Vinther is the man pushing the pace in order to catch the early break-away riders. We want to have presence in today's break with Luke Roberts.

i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m537/Alakagom/PCM0043-1.jpg

We did succeed so, and form the break of the day along Evgeni Petrov and Kenny Dehaes.

i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m537/Alakagom/PCM0050-1.jpg

On the only categorized climb of the day, the fans witnessed epic battle for the points edged out by smallest of margins by Evgeni Petrov over Luke Roberts. However it's still good points overhaul for Luke, tomorrow he'll try again to take the jersey.

i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m537/Alakagom/PCM0052-1.jpg

With 20km to go Danielle Ratto ( Liquigas ) is trying to escape the peleton. Radioshack and Saxobank have the highest presence in the peleton at this stage.

i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m537/Alakagom/PCM0055.jpg

We don't want any dangerous escapees and so it's up to David Tanner to catch Ratto... !

i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m537/Alakagom/PCM0057.jpg

5km to go ! David Tanner furious chase brought the result, as we have the escapees in our sight now. It's time for Nuyens and Morkov to move through the pack and control any dangerous attacks.

i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m537/Alakagom/PCM0059.jpg

3.5km to go and Nuyens's sees a dangerous attack by Millar. He's going with his instincts and joins the move. Let's see if it pays off.

i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m537/Alakagom/PCM0061.jpg

1km to go and Millar sat up while Nuyens begins his acceleration to the finish line ! The peleton closed on us after early lead... Nuyens has a mere few bikes lenght lead at this moment. It looks like we'll be caught.

i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m537/Alakagom/PCM0063.jpg

Nuyens demonstrated massive acceleration to keep the peleton off his back and still leads with 50 metres to go... But now it's Lastras and Bennati who begin their final sprint... and they look ominously strong.

i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m537/Alakagom/PCM0064.jpg

Pablo Lastras wins on the line by again - the smallest of margins. Nuyens timed his attack close to perfection, but no cigar today. It's has to be said it was a valiant effort, as he held off Bennati and the rest of the bunch to finish on 2nd. Great effort.

Bit agonising, Nuyens was so close to scoring our first win of the season, but got overtaken in last 20 metres. In hindsight, we should have waited for the sprint - but we decided to counter-attack Millar and it wasn't the best option today - however we still got 2nd, we've scored bonus seconds which will come useful later on in the race.

Now our concentration moves to Stage 5 and Willunga - through the next 3 stages Nick will be protected man and Luke will have free role - chasing up all the KoM points.

Miguel98 Aye, Nuyens did very well today, hopefully he'll continue to do so on Willunga too.

emre99 & Ian Butler & tmobile Thanks guys Smile

FreitasPCM Indeed, he's definitely a threat Pfft

sutty68 Yeah, good sprinting indeed after that attack. We hope we can get a win in upcoming days.

2 flat stages and we did good job on both of them. Our priority of keeping Nuyens keeping out of trouble was done well, and he's looking to target a stage win tomorrow and a possible GC podium too. Morkov also looks in good position, 11th in GC right now.

Another heads up goes to Luke Roberts, who fought his heart out on those two stages to get the King of Mountains Jersey. He will look to consolidate it tomorrow.

Hopefully, I'll have some time to put up the queen stage tomorrow. It will be one exciting battle Smile

What happened to 'em great, long, reports? Shock

KoM is great. And Nuyens always in the first third of the peloton. Looking forward for the next one where he hopefully wins.

Too bad that Cantwell can`t get some sprint results here.
