Just extended contract with Rutkiewicz for another year - he will be getting €3.500 which is €1.000 less compare to his current contract. I also decided to sign new deal with Nunez as he's very promising rider and probably soon he wouldn't like to ride for such a money. His contract was due to expire in 2015 and was on €6.000 a month, he signed an €8.000 3-year deal. |

It was really quiet in my calendar from March to May which made my sponsors unhappy and my finaces in bits. I did barely few races. In Gran Premio Miguel Indurain Huzarski came 11th. The only tour I participated in was Bayern - Rundfahrt and I'm having bitter-sweet feelings about it. The sweet part is Contofalsky did very well in breakaways - winning mountain jersey, few intermediate sprints (4th in points ranking) and even winning one stage after successful breakaway.
Contofalsky in Bayern - Rundfahrt.
The bitter part is that last stage breakaway. Even having my rider in it I should chase it as Kwiatkowski was 3rd in general and Contofalsky was on the lowest place in breakaway. I just realized it's gonna be successful (18 min lead with 50 km to go) too late. Contofalsky won the stage but it was other breakaway rider, who won the general classification and thanks to that Kwiatkowski felt to 7th place. However, still managed to win it in team classification (just by 4 sec).
Bayern - Rundfahrt
General: 7th Kwiatkowski
Points: 4th Contofalsky
Mountain: 1st Contofalsky
Young: 3rd Kwiatkowski
Team: 1st
Also my 2nd group took part in SEB Tartu Grand Prix, but there was no revelation - after mass sprint Matysiak came 14th.
Looking forward to Polish Championships to repair both: my finances and sponsor confidence.

Good luck at the NC. You still need to complete 1,5 season right? I'm looking forward to any new signings. |

Thanks for all the support. Yes Mico - 1,5 year and I'm getting new sponsor. In fact I'm only waiting for that, because that will bring many changes to my team (hopefully my new sponsor will be more generous than €32.000 a week).
Ok, results now. On my way to National Championships I took part in ProRace Berlin - no sensations - Nunez came 14th. Then it was Tour de Slovenie. It started with a strange quadruple win. Strange, because it was due to game bug I guess. I formed a train on last 10 km, but Nunez (who was last on the train) stuck somewhere in peloton, but the rest of it went forward and gained some lead (I assume all the race leaders follow your best sprinter and if he's attached to the train but can't follow it, they just stay close to him), anyway I decided to leave him there and finish it only with 3 riders in my train (Huzarski, Kwiatkowski, Kiendys). It was worth it as they grabbed first 3 places and Nunez still managed to win the mass sprint and came 4th.
Strange quadruple win in Slovenia.
Anyway, I'm not gonna do it anymore, as I find it cheating (I also didn't mean to do it this time).
On steeply stages it wasn't that good, as I still don't have a decent climber. Huzarski came 24th on 2nd (hilly) stage and then 7th on mountain stage. Last day in Slovenia was 17 km long time trial in Ljubljana on which Kwiatkowski came 6 sec after Schumacher securing 2nd place.
Tour de Slovenie
General: 7th Huzarski
Points: 5th Kwiatkowski
Mountain: 1st Contofalsky
Young: 6th Kwiatkowski, 7th Contofalsky, 8th Nunez
Team: 10th
It looks like your crossed fingers for National Championships worked as It was my best one so far. I designated 5 riders for ITT and all of them were in first 10. Kwiatkowski won it for the 3rd time in a row with 25 sec lead to Przemyslaw Niemiec. Bodnar came 3rd, Huzarski was 4th, Kiendys 7th and Batek was 8th.
Kwiatkowski on his way for his 3rd win in a row.
Road race also went well for me. Learned from experience that breakaway is never chased I went for it with Batek, Bodnar, Huzarski and Kiendys. I protected Kiendys as he's the fastest and control the pace with Batek (as other 2 riders in breakaway didn't want to do it). Kiendys won it again, just ahead of Domagalski from Caja Rural, Bodnar came after them, then it was Majka from Whirpool - Author and Huzarski and Batek from CCC.
These results not only made my sposnsors happy
but also gave me some financial boost.
In the meantime I got this young Polish rider. He doesn't astonish, but with good potential might be next Kwiatkowski and future NC ITT winner.

Just finished 8 stages of Internationale Osterreich Rundfahrt. Again - wasn't as good as I would like it to be. Due to mostly hilly stages all the attention focused on Huzarski and Rutkiewicz (by the way - due to lack of races I modified my fitness programs and all my riders are in group 2, as doing just few races in group 1, they didn't even tire). Huzarski did pretty well on hilly stages finishing in top 10 all the time, but it was Rutkiewicz who was higher in general classification. He came 17th. I also managed to get a mountain jersey with Aliu on the last stage after hard battle. He was also 7th in points ranking and that's about it.
Internationale Osterreich Rundfahrt
General: 17th Rutkiewicz
Points: 7th Aliu
Mountain: 1st Aliu
Young: 5th Aliu
Team: 4th
Next race - Tour de Pologne - which for obvious reasons is very important.
PS. Funny thing is that Nunez is the best sprinter I had so far but at the same time he's the only one who didn't win any race.

It's only because they arn't good enough to fight for good place in general classification.
Just mentioned in my last post that Nunez didn't win any race yet and it looks like he was just waiting for some special occasion... like Tour de Pologne.
Even more surprising that he did it between riders like: Sagan, Bozic, Ciolek and Swift on a stage classified as hilly. Overall he came 3rd in points ranking, which is his highest career position so far. But the biggest star of this year's Tour de Pologne was Marek Rutkiewicz who was in perfect condition (fitness around 97), and managed to win the 5th stage.
But he did extremely very well on each stage which resulted in 2nd place in general with just 5 sec loss to Joaquim Rodriguez and that, of course, shot my sponsors over the Moon. The only grief is I didn't win the mountain jersey as Samuel Sanchez went for it, leavin Contofalsky 40 points behind.
Contofalsky before being stripped from the mountain jersey by Samuel Sanchez.
But still it was very succesful tour for CCC Polsat Polkowice, probably the best one, bearing in mind that's World Tour rank.
Tour de Pologne
General: 2nd Rutkiewicz
Points: 3rd Nunez
Mountain: 2nd Contofalsky
Young: 4th Kwiatkowski, 7th Nunez
Team: 5th
At the same time Tour of Qinghai took place, where my other group participated. Knowing that I don't have any chance to get a decent place in general ranking I aimed for mountain with jersey again (with Aliu). But on the 7th stage - breakaway he was on - succeeded and having some energy left I attacked on last 10 km, which resulted in solo win.
Unfortunately his loss was too big to get a top spot in general and it only moved him to 15th. On flat stages Matysiak rode above the expectations (also in very good fitness) and ended up 3rd in points ranking.
Tour of Qinghai
General: 15th Aliu
Points: 3rd Matysiak
Mountain: 1st Aliu
Young: 5th Aliu
Team: 13th

Now - transfers. Next season will be crucial for me, as finally my beggarly sponsor deal come to an end (that is my main sponsor deal, as my secondary sponsor contract expires in 2016, which is year after that). Having saved over €300.000, I decided to spend a little bit more, just to make sure my sponsor will be happy when it come to looking for new sponsor. I decided to get a decent sprinter, and that will be Klaas Lodewyck, who will be on €6.000 a month.
Very universal and useful Jonathan Castroviejo - €3.200.
and time-trialist / lead out - Ramunas Navardauskas - €3.000.
And that's not over yet, as I'm waiting till November to see who's gonna be left without contract - I guess some climber or two will be nice. My only concern about sponsor confidence is lack of Polish riders, as 4 of them will be gone after this season, leaving me with only 6 left, but I hope to catch it up with results.
The full list of leaving riders is there.

Wow that are some great additions to your team. Are you aiming for WT-status or do you wanna wait another season?

I will focus on making my sponsor happy next season (more than ever), so I can get a good deal on new one. As soon as that happen I will concentrate on promotion, as I guess it's impossible / extremely hard on €32.000 a month. |
