A superb solo victory by Jonathan Bellis brought a surprise victory for Plusnet in stage 2 of the Tour of west-Flanders.
Bellis, 23 who has signed a new contract with Plusnet for next year, espaced with a large breakaway of 16 riders with almost 160kms to go. The breakaway got a lead of 7 minutes at one point and with lesser teams in the breakaway, Bellis was able to spend most of the time resting at the back.
With 33 km to go and a lead of 2 minutes 30 seconds Bellis attacked, the peleton seemed undecided as so many of the teams had riders upfront. In the end An-Post hit the front looking to get their Team Leader Bagdonas the win.
with 15km to go, Bagdonas attacked and Plusnet Ian Wilkinson followed him. Bellis held on to win by 17 seconds, Bagdonas came in second, Zepunkte came in third 45 seconds down in a small group of four including Ian Wilkinson and Degenkolb.
Adam Blythe finished in the main group 1 minute 27 seconds down.
Will mean Plusnet will need some interesting tactics for tomorrow, will they attempt to keep Bellis in the lead or will original team leaders Blythe and Wilkinson come more to the fore?

Great solo victory by Bellis

BBC Yorkshire, 4th March 2012.
Brian: With 20 km to go, Plusnet are working to keep the group together, knowing if they do they have a good chance of the stage with Blythe and the overall with Bellis.
Robert: And they'll keep Wilkinson in reserve, in case of a break away...
Brian: And here it is, as an An post rider attacks, surely it's Bagdonas, Blythe and Wilkinson jump to go with him. Bellis tries but cannot link up. A number of other riders go in the group.
Robert: Degenkolb is also in there, as is the very impressive Bob Jungels, and the Belgians Devolder and Hoste make up the group.
Brian: Blythe and wilkinson are abit unsure of what to do here, so are just hanging on to the back or the group but Bellis appears to be unable to even keep himself at the front of the group.
Robert: Yesterdays ride must have taken it's toll...
Brian: With 3 km to go, the group is still away, it's going to be settled between these 7. Degenkolb and Bagdonas will be completing for the overall win.
Robert: It's going to come down to a sprint. Bagdonas takes the stage, just beating Degenkolb into 2nd. Jungels finishes third with a very impressive ride, Blythe 5th and Wilkinson 7th.
Brian: Bellis finishes in the main group. Losing 44 seconds, therefore he will drop to Third. Wilkinson climbs to 4th, Blythe 10th. Will be a good number of points for plusnet, but I think they should have done better with the oppurtunity given to them with the stage win.

Okay, have to hold my hands up here. I did the Ronde van Drenthe (Swift, 8th) and Kattegoers (Downing 22nd) and was abit annoyed with the sprinters, so wondered if the AI (Quick Simulation) could do any better at the Paris-Troyes...

A superb 1-2 for Plusnet at the Paris-Troyes. Ben Swift took his first victory of the season, with his lead out man Ed Clancy taking second.
The Race finished all together, with the plusnet pair storming the finish and only Europecars Pelucci came close.

Istrian Spring Trophy: An Post leader, Bagdonas took the prologue stage with Ian Bibby second and Clancy third. Team Leader Tiernan-Locke finished 24th, 9 Seconds down.
The real racing starts tomorrow with stage two finishing on the formidable Alto de Ibartin with the 17.1% finishing climb!

Jonathan Tiernan-Locke took a fantastic stage win up the alto de Ibardin, beating Markus Fothern into second place by 18 seconds.
The plusnet team took on the pace early one over the second and third climbs of the day 60 km out. Thinning the peleton out to 103 riders, then NSP took up the place attempting to put plusnet under pressure. Plusnet then got back onto the front though and with 6km to go, Tiernan-Locke attacked. Fothern and Tiernan-Locke worked together until with 400m, Tiernan-Locke Sprinted off the formidable 17.1% ramp to claim his first win of the season.
A reminder of cycling past (with all the baggage that entails) finished third with Michael Rasmussen, now riding for Christina Watches.

Plusnet's misfiring lead out train worked to perfection today at the Classic Loire Atlantic. Ben Swift took the win after a superb lead out in Yorkshire-esqe weather.
Baden-Cooke took second, with Sebastian Turgot securing third.

A superb Istrian Spring Trophy performance was rounded off with Adam Blythe narrowly missing out on winning the final stage.
The Plusnet team held the stage together despite a large breakaway forming, unfortnately An Post rider Bagdonas pipped Blythe to the finish line, with CCC rider Matysiak taking third.
Tiernan-Locke kept the yellow jersey to take his first stage race win of the year.

Monthly report, 1st April 2012.
Continental rankings: 1st
Superprestige rankings: 23rd.
Finances.
Balance: 241,358 euros
Monthly: 31k under budget.
A superb month for the team, propelling us well into the pro-continental positions, looking like we will acheive this years objectives. No news on a new sponsor yet, but the search continues.
Any Questions?
Reporter: Do you believe the UCI deliberatly underated you as a continental team, when it is obvious you are too good for that level.
Gaffeff: Oh, you're enjoying stirring, arn't you? The UCI measured us against the standards it has, deciding where to place a new team is always tricky. I believe we are a pro-continental team, but if things continue we will be next year. We have the bonus of an extra year to develop which can only help us, also please note next month we are going to lose two riders (Clancy and Tennant) due to the olympics, so it's too early to count our chickens.

Ben Swift made it a double in Russia, as Plusnet took the second stage too. Plusnet's sprint train is beginning to look very well drilled, Swift nemisis Obst was pushed back into second, Markov came third to great cheers from the home crowd.

Editors Note: Just want to reassure everyone I am not playing on easy Smile I am on Hard. As it looks like Plusnet are too good for the continental league I will look to speed the reports up a bit, so I can get to the next year (hopefully I haven't jinxed the promotion now).

A really interesting tactical stage say Obst beat Swift into second, you might think it was a sprint stage. However with the climb at the finish it was expected to be a fight between Tiernan-Locke (3rd) and Fothern (23rd). Indeed with 5km to go, when Tiernan-Locke and Fothern attacked it looked clear. However the two sprinters showed their climbing legs to surprise Tiernan-Locke at the finish.
