This mod is a MUST! Been using it since 2010! PCM isn't a game for everyone, nor is watching cycling on television (or pirate streams for hours on end!) but this mod brings a whole new level to the career mode that I think any micro-manager would love.
I downloaded the most recent version last night, I was holding off on career mode until PCMdb was out, I just can't stand those fake names. Planned out all of my UCIWT race rosters, now need to punch them all in and fill in other races to get the legs loose.
I'll keep an eye out for any bugs that I encounter. Last year I was on an XP machine and this year I'm on 7. |

Hi there;
I'm having an issue with the expansion pack, where after using the season planner the game will crash on certain stages - I can skip forward but it then tends to bug up again very quickly. |

@maarsh:
Why do you think that it comes from the expansion pack in combination with my planner? Did you ever play these stages before without using that DB or using my planner? Are you sure that the graphic options are not causing this?
You could do this to check where the problem really comes from:
1. Consult this forum to make sure you are not using broken stages in the first place.
2. Reduce all options to the lowest. Also turn on/off the options to the right to get better performance.
3. Check if it also crashes in the original game by selecting the default DB and then play the same stages without using my planner.
4. Same as above but this time using the pcmdaily DB but still without using my planner.
5. Same as point 1 but this time using my planner.
6. If it crashes with all test above, then check if the problem occurs in the freshly patched game: Un-install the game / Install the game / Install the patch. Now play the same stages as before using the same in-game settings (write them down before you make a clean install of your game).

Hi Lachi.
The stages are fine when played on a DB without editing and exporting a new .db from the season planner.
Will now test if the planner causes the same issue for me with the official release.
I only assumed there was an issue as I had similar issues last year at one stage - my recollection is it was db related rather than the tool. |

@ced0072:
The error message says it: There is an invalid character in the database.
This could be caused by the DB, the usage of the Fast editor or a combination of both.
My planner uses the XML output from Cyanides DB-Extractor-Tool. If the XML is not valid, then you have to fix it. I cannot help any further. |

Thanks Lachi. It's true that I edited my file with Fast Editor.
I suspected that the problem could come from the accent I put in my first name when I created my profile, so I edited by cdb file with Fast Editor again and removed the accent in my first name in the "manager" table. Then everything works fine and I can use your great tool.
Thanks for your prompt response, it gave me a clue to fix my problem, |

If you really want to have an accent in your name, then use another editor, like one of my editors or the one from Cyanide. |

My only question is as of now (I'm planing my season, so I really haven't try it fully)... Why doesn't Cyanide hire you to make a real season planner not like the garbage they try to put in this year game?
Thanks for the tool. I was going crazy trying to make an Excel Sheet so I could plan my season before input it in the game!! |

Yesterday I've downloaded the season planner for the first time as this is the first time I'm playing PCM.
I have to say after 30 mins of study it will take a lot of time to plan my season. I know the Vandenbroecks of this world but the minor riders in the Lotto Belisol team are not familiar to me. I even can't take an image of several stages because I don't know how hard they are (sprintstages, hills or mountains...) That's why I have a feeling that I will be a very hard job to do it really well. Thereby some questions:
1) Aren't there some preset schedules for several teams made by forummembers? You could download the cdb, place it in the right map and start a game at 1 january.
2) Do I have to set up all the members of my squad? Or is it okay the align my key riders to the right races and leave the minors as setup by Cyanide?
3) Does someone have some tips on how to start if I have to do the full story
Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem when I began playing, but you should ask that in another thread because this is about bugs and support to Lachis planner.
Anyway, you should basically decide the riders best suited for the races you wan't to win or the ones your sponsor want's you to win (or achieve certain objectives). I normally create a group of riders for each leader (one for the early season hilly classics and stage races, one for the Cobble Classics, one for the Giro, one for the Tour and one for the Vuelta)...
The rest you'll learn as the seasons progress.

You are not forced to use this planner. If you don't understand how to plan a season or don't want to do the planning, then just accept the season planning from the game. You can also change the planning in the game.
I say it would be best to just play one or two seasons using only the features of the game. If you then feel like planning the season accurately, then use my planner.
This planner came a long way implementing more features over the time. Sadly the database of PCM 2012 does not contain the type of stages. Due to this the planner for this year is a step back because you cannot see if the stages are suited for sprinters, climbers or hilly riders. But since so many requested it, I released it anyway. |

Lachi don't get me wrong. This planner is great work. But i have to admit a step to far for a beginner. I shall start to play 2 seasons so i can learn my team and the stages. I suppose after this the step won't be the huge anymore.

The Planner is great even if you think you release it to early, Its 100 times better than the one in the game.
I have some suggestions if you wan't to keep improving it. And I even offer to help.
BTW: I post it a Planing Guide for Beginners on the Tips and Trick section of the forum. I imagine it would be up soon. |

I never said I released it too soon. I said it lost one of the most useful features.
You are free to post any suggestions, no need to ask for allowance.
Where/what would you like to help? |

Before your plan came out for 2012 I was trying to this on excel to help me:
I find that I helps to have some more information on the rider so you can now in what groups to put it in, like his role on the team or the specialization. So I add this info to help me select the groups.
Also I use colors to help me divide the leaders from the protective riders and teammates, etc...
I would be awesome if you could select pre determine schedules... It would save a bunch of time. For example, I want my main leader to focus on the Tour so I select a schedule from a list and it would choose Romandie, California Tour, Dauphine, Tour, etc... for him. That could be label as PURE TOUR.
There could be a PURE GIRO, or a Mix GIRO TOUR, Mix GIRO VUELTA, EARLY CLASSICS, ETC....
Then if you select them and then are able to tweak them that would be awesome.
Also, that every race schedule had its own fitness schedule to go with it.
I imagine those things are posible, I was trying to it in Excel but I imagine is not the best program to do it, cause also I use Mac and can't use the DATABASE extractor so I would have to input all of the races manually.
I could help you doing the schedules, gathering info. Whatever you need. And if you tell me the software you use and the programing is not to advance I could even learn a few things to help you, but is up to you and what you need.
Just throwing ideas around! |

My planner allows the grouping of the riders. Also it is possible to see all the information about the riders. Read the manual how to do it.
I will not add colors or more info because the above mentioned functions are enough for me.
I already thought about ways to fasten the planning but I am against predefines schedules because they do not work for all DBs. Also it is not user-friendly (how to undo a selection).
But I was thinking about a function to group races. Then you could assign the riders to a group of races.
I want to do the fitness schedules manually, so I will not implement something like that. Rather would I implement an automatism to build schedules based on the race calendar.
I will not share the programming because I don't want to: 1. explain the code / 2. be restricted to deadlines / 3. wait for others (I have this in my daily job already.)
But you can have the code and do your own thing, just don't count on my support.
The project is in C# using WPF and is developed in Visual Studio. |

These two highligted options would be great to have
