Verdugo's leg injury is really nasty! (difficult for the basque rider to continue)

Also Erviti is out for Movistar and Gutierrez in doubt.

I saw the pic ( Verdugo's leg ) and it's preety in bad shape ( understating what I actually saw.... )

Here's the picture. Really not for faint hearted people...

That looks awful, seems likely he also damaged his periosteum (skin above the actual bone). Pain in the ass is an understatement for sure. Frown

Also apart of Verdugo, Txurruka has a very bad luck in the Tour. He already abandoned 3 times in a row.. Sad

Poels has suspected both spleen and kidney ruptured, 3 broken ribs and bruised lungs...

I have no idea why his DS told him to ride at all after the crash...

It's really difficult to keep track on who is out, and who is injured... Can't we try to make a list of riders abandoning, and riders injured, and to what extend.

I can't say that I am very much updated on the issue. I know that Jonathan Cantwell is injured, but also that he is probably starting tomorrow, expecting to get through the stage. Not that he is interesting for tomorrows stage, but just to get a little sum up. I know a bit about Team Saxo Bank - Tinkoff Bank. Perhaps your could update on the team(s) you know anything about.

Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank:

*Jonathan Cantwell - Injured to a minor degree (heavy roadrash/sore)
*Nicki Sørensen - Injured to a minor degree (Hand problems)
*Anders Lund - Crashed but is OK.
Chris Anker Sørensen - Fit for fight.
Karsten Kroon - Fit for fight.
Juan José Haedo - Fit for fight.
Michael Mørkøv - Haven't heard anything.
Nick Nuyens - Haven't heard anything.
Sergio Paulinho - Haven't heard anything.

Team owner, Bjarne Riis expects everyone to start, and everyone to finish without much problems.

Team Sky:

* Richie Porte - Severely injured (3 different crashes)
* Michael Rogers - Minor injury (Knee problems)
* Mark Cavendish - Minor injury (Road rash/sore)
* Bernhard Eisel - Minor injury (Road rash/sore/stitches)
Edvald Boasson Hagen - Crashed but OK
Bradley Wiggins - Fit for fight
Christian Knees - Fit for fight
Chris Froome - Fit for fight

Well at Sky, Wiggins, Rogers, Eisel, Knnes and Froome had free accident day. Rogers is still feeling his knee a bit after stage 1 crash.

Cav and EBH were held up today, but are okay. Now Porte is the worse off. He crashed once yesterday, and today 3 times... He's suffering a bit and I am not sure we'll see much of him tomorrow.

Do you expect tomorrow some people attacking because of the falls or you think that it is going to be boring like sometimes lately?

Has Porte been ill or something? I keep noticing him losing big time and I'm not sure it's because he's saving himself either.

I have a feeling Rogers and Froome were to be plan B and Richie to save himself as much as possible in the first week. Maybe even giving the option to put him up the road on a later stage as a tactical option? Pure speculation though.

On a more certain note Dave Brailsford describes Portes injuries as "The main thing is he's OK. He's lost some skin off his knees and his back. It looks superficial. I don't think there will be any broken bones. I'm sure he will be fine."

I'm noticing a pattern in the injuries, which seem to be broken ribs and or damaged organs because of it. Maybe that will help decipher just how the crash was caused. Normally its collarbones and wrists, legs etc. not chests or backs so I see it as unusual.

Or it happened too quickly and the riders couldn't brace in time. I'd like to know what caused it.

I think it could be because a lot of injuries came from the riders and bikes all piling into each other. David Millar called it a 'tidal wave of debris'. So it wasnt just the road doing the damage.

Plus the 70kmh speed of the crash!

Latest list of confirmed abandons: Astarloza, Danielson, Dupont, Erviti, Freire, Poels, Txurruka, Vigano, Wynants

That makes sense, thanks.

And sad to see Astarloza go. I was hoping he'd do something for my Velogames team, but at this point I have 6 riders left I think so I'm not winning that anyway.

Dont count with Valverde for Tomorrow he seems to be in Pain too. So I think its between EVANS, NIBALI or SANCHEZ for Tomorrow.

JL886
I think that Nibali will lose time tomorrow...
