Haussler is our leader today but considering the fact that the competition is much stronger than in Marseille we will be satisfied with a top 10 placement. As our other riders probably lack experience and skill to compete with guys such as Moreau, Ignatiev, Carrara, Walker and Posthuma we will try to get into a big break. Hacecky does so as he gets in a break that exists out of 11 riders, however halfway trough the race 3 stronger riders join them, Goubert, Keinath and Charteau. Hacecky is the only one able to hang onto them but on the next climb he has to let go...
Left: Hacecky looking strong in the group, Right: Hacecky has to let go
CHarteau, Goubert and Keinath have a nice lead over the pack but more and more riders are attacking in the rear. Moreau, Posthuma and Kern and 3 of them and they join these 3. Right behind them is Walker but he doesnt join them and neither does Haussler who attacks a few kms later. Up front Moreau feels very strong and attacks again, only Posthuma and Keinath follow while Goubert and Charteau crack...
Moreau, Posthuma and Keinath up front, but how long will it take before Keinath cracks as well?
Well, Keinath cracks in the final KM causing him to lose his 3rd spot to William Walker. Haussler manages to end 8th with which I am satisfied but up front Posthuma and Moreau have a fight for the win.
Moreau grabs his first win as a Tinkoff rider! In the back Keinath cracks after a long day...

Our leader is Samoilev with his main helpers being Frantisek Rabon and Ignas Konovalovas. The race has a tough profile and once all the weak breaks have been caught the pack become smaller and smaller, with 1 lap to go this is what is left of it but those in the back will soon have to let go!
The Swiss audience put their hands together for these 31 riders of which one will take the win
In the next corner, disaster strikes for AG2R as their leader Dessel crashes and since he really was 'the' favourite some outsiders takes their chance on the last climb of the day, coming out of the tunnel 2 guys have a gap and one of them is a teammate of Dessel...
Left: Dessel hits the pavement hard, Right: Gadret and Zberg have a nice lead!
After a while it become clear that one of these 2 will take the win, Zberg is the better sprinter but it seems that he has wasted all his powers on the climb as Gadret easily takes him over and spurts to victory
Even though Dessel fell, it is the AG2R team that wins here thanks to Gadret!

A stage for the sprinters, however for some guys the end might be interesting enough to attack. At first 4 guys take off and even though they have a big lead they never became dangerous, these 4 guys were Parra Calada, Navas, Cavallari and Parakhnevich. But then with 20 kms to go some riders try to take advantage of the situation by attacking just when they others have been taken in, the only 2 riders who really break free are Sacchi and Sorensen who have a small lead left when they reach the sign of the last km...
Left: Parra Calada leads the group of 4, Right: Sorensen and Sacchi vs. the pack
Sorensen soon cracks and dissapears in the group but Sacchi seems to hold on until the final metres when Lampre's sprinter Gavazzi accelerates and gets rid of everyone to win the race. Haussler was badly positioned but thanks his powerful spurt he still manages to end 3rd which is satisfying
Francesco Gavazzi was clearly the strongest today!

indeed, when I looked at his achievements from last year I can only conclude that Gerolsteiner has been mistreating Haussler since he only got 1 2nd place and 1 3rd spot + 3 4/10 places...
And also, since we are 2nd in the CT we decided to apply for a Giro wildcard, later on in the season we will do the same for Le Tour...lets hope we get accepted to atleast 1 of them
A small 1.2 race in Switzerland where we get paid for the presence of our Polish friend Szmyd. The competition here is not tough and the only real contenders are Baguet and Cheula. We have 5 riders in our team who can handle those 2 and so we decide to play our cards out on Stybar and Samoilev so that the others can make sure that all the weaker riders will suffer today
And we make em suffer indeed, however then with 20 kms to go the favs crawl out of their shell and Stybar is feeling great today and goes after Baguet, Cheula and Chiarini. The 4 have a nice lead and now that the Spartans have stopped working the weakers team come and they dont manage to get them back. For a while it seems that Baguets teammate, Biondo will join them but luckily for Stybar the Italian sprinter doesnt join and so the only thing he has to do now is to sit up front and sprint away from the rest...
Left: The 4 strongest riders of the day, Right: Stybar beats the others easily!
Result:

The manager is slighly ill, what effect did that have on the team?
Our A-Squad is currently in Italy for the Settimana Ciclista a Bartoli, and so our b squad comes here where Khalilov and Bozic make their first appearance of the season. With some help from Credit Agricole we get a sprint where Bonnet, the current CT leader is the man to watch. After going from train to train Bozic and Khalilov find themselves in the right train but a bit too far in the back
Putsep up front as Bonnet, Poulhies and Bozic are closing onto him!
In the end Bonnet, Poulhies, Bozic and even Khalilov come quite close but not close enough, Bouygues wins and is now only a few points away from our 2nd spot in the Continental Ranking (Credit Agricole is first)
Putsep beats the favorites in Rennes!

A stage meant for the sprinter who can also climb a bit such as Rabon. His biggest competition would be Gasparroto but when the climb starts it is Matteo Bono who attacks while all the sprinters look at eachother. Finally the Liquigas tandem Calcagni-Gasparroto goes after him and under the 1 km banner they catch and Gasparroto finishes it off with Calcagni 2nd. Bono meanwhile is suffering in the final km and Rabon even manages to take him down on the line to end 3rd
Left: Bono is about to be caught, Right: Gasparroto takes the flowers today
Result:

A boring stage but a tough one, all the favs wait till the last climb and Samoilev gets away with 6 others. Samoilev being the worst sprint and all ensures him the 7th place and unfortunately the chasing group is right after him so no time gaps. The 2 favs in the group were Szczawinski and David Blanco and it was Blanco who took his first win for his new team, Elk Haus
Blanco is one of the 3 Spaniards that Elk Haus bought and its paying off today!
Result:

The most crucial stage of this tour and the clear favourite today would be Alex Ardila Cano and his Radenska team. Why the hell Ardila is riding for Radenska? I dont know but it seems that they have been trying to get a more Italianish look as also fellow countryman Sarmiento and the Costa Rican Rojas are here to work for him. The group stays together for a long time but then Ardila places his attack, Blanco manages to take his wheel while Cataldo is just behind him. Samoilev finds himself behind those 3 in a group of 5 who werent strong enough to follow. Up front its a hard fought battle between Ardila and Blanco but on the final metres of the climb Ardila sneaks away and ultimately grabs the win. Samoilev tries to get away from the chasing group but has to pay the price for that as he ends on a dissapointing 8th spot. He is now 5th overall.
The Colombians are showing themselves in this tour!
Result:
01. Alex Ardila Cano RADENSKA POWERBAR 4h25'39
02. David Blanco ELK HAUS - SIMPLON + 12
03. Dario Cataldo LIQUIGAS + 1'22

09. Gorazd Stangelj LAMPRE - FONDITAL + 3'18
10. Paolo Tiralongo LAMPRE - FONDITAL + 3'31
The final stage, Kruopis was in the early break today which got alot of room. However in the back some guys still attack in order to take Ardila's leader jersey. One of them is Samoilev who attacks on the big one but unfortunately everyone gets in his wheel and all the others counter attack him...cowards :x . Up front meanwhile Kruopis, Arekejev and Solari got some company as Cataldo, Blanco and Ardila join them. Kruopis stops working immediatly as Samoilev is behind the group but Samoilev wouldnt join them. However Kruopis did ruin Ardila's day, Blanco won but in order to keep his jersey he now had to end 3rd...Kruopis however who had ridden up front all day long ended 3rd so Ardila loses the GC to Blanco by 2 seconds, he must be pissed off at Kruopis! Samoilev ends 5th and takes over Anza's 4th overall spot.
Left: The overall leader leads the group, Right: Blanco wins and also takes the overall win!
Result:
01. David Blanco ELK HAUS - SIMPLON 4h50'50

If we want to get our 2nd place back from Agritubel a nice result here could be helpful and with Samoilev and Rabon we have 2 favs in our team. The early break today isnt that big, it exists out of Axelsson, Celli, Perez Moreno and the young Italian Lo Piccolo
The early attackers...
However these 4 wouldnt determine the outcome, it was all going to be decided on the final 2 climbs and indeed it was. After 3 waves of attackers with we have ourselves 2 groups, 3 Spartans are up front but not in the first group...they are in the 2nd group chasing Blanco, Anza, Garzelli and Bru Pascal.

Well our mission here is to make sure to prevent Agritubel and CA from grabbing more and more points and looking at Bozic' mediocre form attacking might be better today on a course which has its hills. Because of this the young Lithuanian Kruopis seems the man for the job and he gets in a big break of 16 riders!
Still 100 kms to go but the group already has a more than nice lead!
However the closer the group gets to the finish the more nervous it gets, because of this 5 riders have to let go but still their lead isnt endangered but in the last lap the pack does come close...and so everyone starts working again (in the group) and a sprint it will be. At least, thats what everyone thought in the break but then the neo-pro from Auber, Sabathier attacks after he sees his fellow neo teammate Nijland struggling in the back and no one seems to answer but then Kruopis takes the responsibility to chase him down but in the sprint it are Euser and Blancy who take advantage of this...they get closer and closer, will the French rookie take the win by surprise or will either Euser or Blanchy finish it off?
Jean Marc Sabathier takes his first pro win and what a nice one it is for him!

A nice test for our young squad to see where we are in races that feature alot of competition, we dont have high expectations but a top 10 would of course be nice, in the early break we have Kocjan with 11 others. They get a nice lead but once Wellens, Gustov, Mugerli and Azevedo have joined them more and more guys have to let go, Kocjan is the one who, together with Parakhnevich, hangs on for the longest time but has to let go in the end
Valach and Kocjan leading the break in the beginning of the race
And so Wellens, Gustov, Azevedo and Mugerli are up front and with 60 kms to go their lead is still growing and is now 8 mins! However Mugerli cant keep up anymore and so 3 are left over. But in the final 20 kms their lead is decreasing as more and more favs attack but still these 3 would make it with Wegmann closing in. Gustov decides to start the sprint and has a big lead as Azevedo doesnt have the strenght anymore to close the gap and now Wellens has to go after him but it seems too late...or...?
Gustov collapses in the final metres and Wellens books a nice win!

It's raining cats and dogs here today in Denmark and this will make this cobble race a tough but also entertaining race. Stybar is our leader here and he has some nice teammates to help him. The weather and the profile make it a very tough race, many riders fall and puncture but luckily the Spartans all completed the race without any difficulties. However when there is a front group of 24 riders disaster strikes for CSC as Arvesen, who is today;s favourite to win the race, punctures and drops back to the 2nd group
Bad luck for Arvesen, he wouldnt get back up front
The Spartans set the pace and as said Arvesen didnt get back, however Wellens attacks, attacks, and keeps on attacking and even though Stybar counters him the last time he takes a lead and slowly Wellens rides away from the rest to win the race. Stybar ends 2nd and in a desperate comeback Arvesen still manages to end 4th behind Reihs and in front of Haussler
Deja Vu?

Midway trough the season and in order to regain our 2nd spot in the CT rankings we participate here with Bozic being our leader with Khalilov and Kocjan as his main helpers in the sprint. Early on a nice break is formed with no Spartan in it...
Group of 9 which seems to weak but who knows?
The group stays up front for a long time and when we enter the final 20 kms they still hold a 2 minute lead! Sparta Praha is forced to cooperate but when a few CSC's decide to do it on their own Khalilov jumps along with Klostergaard while Ljungqvist and Lallouette have already jumped towards the first group, however there is someone else following him who is also a good sprinter...
Left: Arvesen and Klostergaard in Khalilov's wheel, Right: They just join the group and the sprint immediatly starts!
The pack is also close, but the group is tired and Khalilov quickly jumps towards the group leader Heiny and takes him over but that darn viking named Arvesen is still sprinting in his wheel, he is now next to him as they go trough the corner and get ready for the final metres!
This is gonna be close! Will Arvesen take advantage of Khalilov?
They get closer to the finish and their riding next to eachother, it will be very close...who takes the edge on the finishline and the win?!?
WoW! Khalilov uses all the power he has and takes a great and well deserved win!
And so Khalilov beats the Scandinavion trio from Team CSC --8)
