The team will look to the reliable Nathan Haas for the race today, Rafael Valls will be given a free role, he will aim to keep all attack in check on the final climb and get away if he can. If there is a mid-large group of riders soming in at the end, Haas will sprint it out.
The weather is horrible and it is extremely windy, so the majority of the team move to the front to avoid any accidents or splits early on.
The traditional morning break is established eventually, containing Liquigas's Sabatini, Vaconsoleil's Boeckmans and Pavlin from Adria as the most dangerous riders.
After an un-eventful stage, a huge split appears with 30km to race with the front group containing about 20 riders, almost all of them being favourites for the win. Team Type 1 are well represented with 6 riders. Valls and Meyer make the split.
The second group on the road, containing 12 riders, joins up with the lead group as Kocjan (TT1) goes off the front passing the remnants of the early breakaway. Haas joins the group.
Haas moves forwatd over the summit of the final climb after no attacs were let go, Valls did a great job sticking to wheels.
The sprint begins! Kocjan (TT1) leads out Frapporti (Idea), Callergain (TT1), Failli (FAR) and Grega Bole of Lampre is coming up the side to take Haas' wheel with 1.5km to go.
500m left! Haas passes Kocjan! Bole finally goes of Haas' wheel, but has he left it too late?
He has a slender lead wit only two hundred meters. Bole surely can't go that fast?
Nathan Haas takes another incredible win for Team JB-HIFI! Kocjan holds on for 2nd and Bole comes in 3rd.

Next Race:StradeBianchiEdited by Eden95 on 16-05-2012 13:41
We have some hard competition today on the gravel roads in Italy, We will try to keep as many riders in contact with the main group as possible and hope for a sprint finish with Haas, as the terrain doesn't suit him too well.
A slow start to the race, the peloton reaches the first gravel section with no break in front after 30km.
Eventually, A.Malori (LAM) and R.Karimov (IDEA) get away, quickly getting a large gap.
J.Augustyn, the former SKY rider, and Michael Rasmussen both see an oppurtunity and attack. There is still 77km remaining, the lead duo already have a gap of 4"21'
Farnese and Astana are both pushing hard in front, with the main group down to just 44 riders with 48km to go. Rasmussen and Augustyn have both caught the lead duo, creating a strong front group. They have 3"21'.
Kessiakoff crashes! Pirazzi and Fofonov stop and wait for him, maybe Vino isn't in very good form and Kessiakoff is their leader? Their tactics are confusing to say the least. 36km left.
After an un-eventful final 30km, Finally an attack from Grega Bole of Lampre 4 kilometers out. This time will he be able to hold off Haas?
Just over a kilometer left and Bole begins to slow down and the remnants of the peloton catch up. He begins to sprint. Failli (FAR) and Cataldo of Quickstep go early along with Haas in hope to catch and pass the man from Slovenia.
And Gasporatto is coming fast around the outside! Failli is slowly gaining on Bole with Haas struggling in 4th.
And..
Spoiler
Bole Wins! (A few screens went missing, the final one of him winning was one of them, unfortunately)

Next Race: Cholet-PaysDeLoireEdited by Eden95 on 16-05-2012 18:03
A flat course with a lot of small bumps, with a high pace towards the end a lot of riders could lose contact with the peloton and cause splits. We hope it will end in a sprint, but a break could get away in the last 10kms, so we have to be careful.
The break got away easily and after 30km's already has a gap of 2 minutes. Garate of Rabobank and David Malacrne of Europcar are the two most dangerous riders here, along with A.Blain (END) and A.Moimy (Veranda).
100km left, and the break has a steady lead of 4 minutes. The sun is out, it is a wonderful day!
Fast forward a bit - with 20km remaining, the break has been reeled in and Amorsion, Wilkinson (END) and Markov (RUS) go straight off the front.
And a big crash at the back! Endura are the most affected, losing strong riders such as Bibby, Mandri and Russell Downing.
Amorsion and co. are bought back fairly quickly, and Van Winden parts with the peloton with 8km to race.
The team are now towards the front setting up Cimolai for the sprint.
Scheirlinckx attack with 4km to go, Haas, who is feeling good, thinks about following him but decides to stay with Cimolai.
Only 500m left, Scheirlinckx is still leading! Van Winden, Hinault and Dumoulin are much faster and coming as quick as a train!
Scheirlinckx is victourious! He takes it by a bike length to Dumoulin and Hinault. A good ride by all. Cimolai came in 6th, a nice result considering he had to start his sprint a fair way out to try and catch Scheirlinckx.
2/4/2012 - GranPreimoMiguelIndurain A warm-up race to one of our biggest goals of the season, the infamous Giro del Trentino.
19-22/4/2012 - GirodelTrentino One of our biggest objectives of the season, a race featuring monsterous, ferocious climbs with some very hard competition and a ITT with a technical route.
27/4-1/5/2012 - VueltaAsturias Another major goal for our team, Our mountain men will have to be ready for this brutal race, with the queen stage featuring many difficult climbs.
Overview
An eventful month for Team JB-HIFI, 2 of our major goals fall within this coming month of April, and they will both be very difficult ot achieve.Rafael Valls and Stefan Denifl will be our outright leaders, one will participate in Trentino, and the other in Asturias. Other climbers on the team will be split into two different teams to accomadate the needs of and protect our leaders in these undulating races. Hopefully, in the next overview, we'll be able to say we accomplished some fantastic results in at least one of these races!Edited by Eden95 on 17-05-2012 14:48

Rest of team Movistar, M. de Maar, E.Pinto, R.Mandri

An interesting race, our team's goal is to get on the front towards the end on the last few hills and push hard and see if we can break anyone and cause splits. We will be looking to Nathan Haas to deliver us victory here today, with Stefan Denifl as his right-hand man. We have to be careful though, a break could stay away today so we have to be 'on our toes', as they say.
Many breaks tried and failed early on. Movistar were setting a tremendous pace and obviously didn't want to let anyone go. A horrible day in Spain, the rain is certainly coming down also.
Movistar lay off the pace and straight away Robert Partridge of Endura and F.Guillou of Bretagne set off and get a nice gap. 83km remain.
Laverde from Coldeportes sees an oppurtunity in the slow peloton and takes off, almost an instant 1 minute gap. 67km to the line.
Tim Roe moves to the front with 59km to go. The gap to the leading duo is 4"41', and no-one else is doing anything.
Roe's work pays off instantly, the peloton is wittled down to 46 riders and Duarte, a favourtie for the win, is straight off the back surrounded by teammates trying with everything they've got to pull him back up.
Disaster forMovistar! Their leader Lastras falls! Intxausti drops back to help. 36km to the finish, they'll have to work hard as the group of now 39 riders powers on after the breakaway.
Mandri (END) attacks! 18km to ride, His teammate Partridge is all alone a minute and a half up the road and making tired faces. The main group of 29 isn't moving very fast, the fteam leaders are looking at each other.
Mandri is bought back hastily and the group is down to 16. Partridge is up the road still a minute ahead, 8 kilometers till the finish. Haas is feeling great and is saving his energy for the sprint. It's going to be close!
Partridge enters the final kilometer alone with a 50' gap to the group of favourites. He can't lose.
The sprint for 2nd begins, Vladimir Karpets leads on the left from teammate Brushegin and Monguzzi from Utensilnord. Haas started his sprint a little late and is coming home with amazing speed!
Robert Partridge takes a nice win! A fantastic solo effort for the last 25km, although he has to give credit to the group of favourites for not riding until the last 15 kilometers. Monguzzi is the best of the rest and Haas rounds ou the podium.

Next up: GirodelTrentino preview.
Edited by Eden95 on 18-05-2012 10:13
Only 4 riders from last year's top ten return, those being reigning champion Michele Scarponi, Luca Ascani, Robert Kierslovski and Domenico Pozzovvo. This race is usually used as a warm-up for most Giro di Italia Overall contenders, as is the case this year also. The parcours are hard, starting with a 14km ITT before gradually working from a very hilly stage to two colossal summit finishes, one on the infamous Fai della Paganella. This is one of the most important races of the year for our team, and we are targeting the young rider rankings, and a top-10 finish overall.
Winner of last year's edition of the race, he has had a slow start to the season, posting no results at all and only registering 9 race days as yet, as he powers towards his goal of the Giro di Italia. He is supposedly in poor form after finishing 52nd in the Tirreno-Adriatico, 8 minutes behind the winner. Despite this, he is still a major contender because of his fantastic climbing skills and ability against the clock.
Predicted finish: 3rd
Vincenzo Nibali
Spoiler
Nibali is coming into this race in unknown condition, he has only raced 10 days, and hasn't race in a month. Besides not posting any results whatsoever like Scarponi, he has been tipped to at least get a podium finish overall. His teammates say he is in incredible form, especially for the upcoming Giro di Italia, but he is yet to show any proof of this. We'll have to wait and see.
Janez Brajkovic
Spoiler
Brajkovic has raced even less then Nibali and Scarponi, with only 7 race days to his name this year. He has also not posted any results whatsoever. His goals for this season are unknown, and will apparently be supporting his teammate Kreuziger in the Tour de France later in the year. He is here with an unbreakable team. His form is mysterious, and he may even be here to help Kierslovski or Kessiakoff.
Peter Velits
Spoiler
Velits. One of the big 4 pre-race favourites, no results, either. Only 8 race days. The GC contenders for this race are looking a little out of shape at the moment. He's going to have to go hard to win here. He's got a fairly strong squad supporting him, featuring former World ITT champion Bert Grabsch and Tour de France KOM jersey winner, Jerome Pineau.
Pozzovivo finished fourth in last years race, and has ambitions to step onto the podium in this year's race. He has had a mediocre season so far, his best result 6th in th GP Lugano, and he has raced 23 days and his form is always improving. His Time-Trialling skills tend to hold him back, but with colossal mountain stages to follow the 14km ITT, it shouldn't him worry him too much. Brambilla and Pirazzi also serve as great support during the hard stages of the race.
Alexander Efimkin
Spoiler
Efimkin comes into the race as the leader for Team Type 1. He has posted quite average results this season thus far, placing 10th overall in Tour Médeiterranean and 9th in San Luis, not much to show for nearly 30 days of racing. He is in somewhat good form and will hope to make an impression during the opening Time Trial.
Marcel Wyss
Spoiler
Wyss comes into Trentino with a very weak team - he will most likely be isolated in every stage at critical points anmd this will cause him to not perform to his potential. He also hasn't recorded any results this season from 8 racing days.
Johnny Hoogerland
Spoiler
Hoogerland isn't renowned as a great climber, but he can climb. Because he isn't thought to be a huge threat, he may be able to slip under the radar and catch the other contenders off-guard. He is a very strong rider who won't give up without a fight. He has had a much more successful start to the year, coming 6th in Tirreno-Adriatico, 4th in the Giro Calabria and winning Sarda Sassari classic.
Sylvester Szymd
Spoiler
Szmyd is one of the most loyal and respected domestiques in the professional peloton. He is a very stron climber, but suffers in the Time Trials. He will be Nibali's right-hand man, but if Nibali fails to live up to expectations, expect Szmyd to take charge of Liquigas. He's raced 18 days and his best result is 5th at the Trofeo Laiguelgia.
Fight for White
Youg Rider classification contenders
Rasmus Guldhammer
Spoiler
Guldhammer has had a quiet beggining to the season, with a mere 10 race days with no results. Trentino could be his season breakthrough, he is a fantastic young Danish Stage Racer, one to look out for in this race.
Gianluca Brambilla
Spoiler
Brambilla is a promising young Italian prospect, he will mainly serve to help his leader, Pozzovivo. But, if given a free role, Brambilla is tactically intelligent and devestating on his day. He is a sure threat to our U-25 rankings hopes.
Tomohiro Hayakawa
Spoiler
Hayakawa leads an average-strength Nippo squad to Trentino. At just 22 years old, he is a terrific climber with a bright future. He is a poor Time-Trialist so he will struggle during the first stage to not lose time to any of his rivals. He won't win the overall GC, but could surprise.
Sorry, I made a lot of mistakes there. It's almost 3 in the morning and I feel like i'm about to die of sleep deprivation but was determined to get that done. Probably should have waited till' morning
