Some serious shit from the start
Very interesting stage this, although I would have hoped that Holloway could survive this, when Swift could. Sony Ericsson could be a big scorer from this race, what a start!
Fothen so far out of trouble, though was caught behind a split on stage 1. Steurs in a good GC position, can only hope he will try to get out again.

Van Stayen getting blocked by Swift and Cancellara, and still he manages to end 20-25 places above them after passing.
Good to see that Keizer managed to stick with the peleton though.

Swift must only have just survived it, considering his poor sprint. Which is unfortunate, when the game sends Uran up to relay.

I like that Cancellara is really aggressive, but:
WTF - losing Solis on stage 2 is not good

Yes, this looks awesome from Sony Ericsson's point if view.
For the teams that are in a battle for rankings with them not so much as Trofimov's performances here might kill my chances to get into top 5 of the overall team rankings.
Also big surprise, for me at least, not to see a breakaway making it all the way to the finish. I guess we are just too early in the race, even though the profile looked perfect for a breakaway.

True. On the positive note, I can't remember seeing a captain (Uran) being negatively affected by the relays, and he won't be caught out on splits...

It sure did. I put some cash on "Another Rider" here, I was almost certain it would go through.

Trofimov is in beast mode! I was hoping that he could clinch the yellow jersey after Corsica due to the hilly stage and TT, but I did not expect him to be so well positioned in the sprints. His great all-around skills and sprint stat is so valuable, especially in PCM11.

Well, that was interesting. Two riders in the breakaway ... I'd prefer if they stayed with Dekker
Also good to see Dekker in top-5. Here to win |

Really want Dekker to do well here to save CrueTrue's team a little bit. I don't know why I have this sentiment Go Go Spyker

That stage was perfect for Ventoso, unfortunately, Trofimov got the jump on him, and with Cunego so in the top 5 a sprinter has no shot at the points jersey. Hopefully Ventoso helps out in the hills now though.

Not such a good stage for Colombia even though Cunego was 5th. Might have done better if he was better positioned.
Plus Perez Sanchez crashed and we had a man outside the time limit on Day 2!!!.
I also thought when Cancellara went he was probably going to win the stage. Great start from Trofimov. Well done. |

A shame to see our loaned-out rider Damion Drapac already being out of the time-limit
Amazing job with the reports, SN! It's so much fun to follow this TdF, even if it's "just" two stages yet..

Ultimately, the stage was probably too hard for that - or the break too weak. Of the 9 man break, only 3 even managed to finish on the same time as the peloton.

Firstly, SN, I think you have perfected the art of reports.
Second, really good race to follow so far. I'm constantly rooting for the breakaway, or one of the underdog teams, so it ought to be fun throughout.

Amazing reports so far, one can feel the pressure and drama even behind the screen
Great win again for Trofimov, he is true all-arounder. Pity that stupid AI destroyed the Tour for Velits.

Probably means he's going to win from a crazy breakaway though.
