My team was always going to be anonymous in these flat opening stages. Only hope here is Alex Rasmussen, but since he's a bit Theo Bosy, there's not a whole lot of confidence on that side. I'm really looking forward to follow Keinath here. Hoping he can break into the Top 15 this season, eventhough this route seems a lot tougher than the previous two. Add to that he is racing La Vuelta as my GC hope a few days after, the poor guy has an inhumane schedule
Eventhough it would kinda ruin the excitement in the overall standings, I finde my self rooting a little for Frank Schleck. Would give the man-game some nice spirit with him winning the Giro so many seasons after his TdF win
Also very nice reports CountArach. Keep it up

Why not rooting for Fothen then?

The reports are excellent, if you enjoy writing them then thats perfect.
As far as withdrawals go, if people crash and injure themselves then they don't have a crash animation, they just stop and withdraw.
Interesting, I never noticed that. I've learned something then.

I feel a bit sorry for Wiggle...
Anyway - what a stage for Colombia! And I'm sure that any second that can be gained in the GC competition is worth taking for both Schleck and Ricco. Who knows - maybe Sella lost the Giro on the 3rd stage.
Great to see Kadri in the breakaway. It seems there will be plenty of opportunities for the break of the day, and step 1 to win them is to be present |

Ohh. So close for Bernaudeau to get himself a sublime run in the Maglia Rosa...
Really bad run from the pack to let Ricco and Schleck go. But what the heck. Those two are both out of Fothen's league. But I had hoped for him to lead before going into the hills.

That's a fucking disgrace. Not only Cataldo, but Costagli. Rowe can't get over the climbs to sprint, unlike last year. And all the stages seem to be ending in crap breakaways, which my team will never contend in anymore as my riders/team line up is too strong.
Ponzi won't attack, because he's not an overall contender.
I am angry.

Damn it. Only 2 days in pink. Were my riders waiting for Rosseler?

Good stage from Christensen sitting nicely in 5th on GC. Also good job by Keinath not getting caught behind that gap. Looking okay so far.

Yeah it's really shitty for you. I expect your team to attack a lot in the hilly stages though.

Another nice performance by my team - Malori with highlight result of his career and Henao Montoya comfortably in peloton. These hilly stages coming really soon will be really important for my leader as he has to absolutely limit his loses.
And what a bad luck for Wiggle. Hopefully for rjc, Ponzi should attacking in next few stages, he is clearly the best puncheur in this Giro.

He is... But I hope Ulissi will follow him

@CA: Some great in depth stages, very nice work. Can't wait for the major climbs of the Giro, if these small ones are causing this much damage!

Awesome stage from a Colombia perspective. Couldn't really have worked out any better. Really good to get a GC stage win too with a rider who no one was really interested in at transfer time.
As for Vespa - bit poor really. Pozzo lost time in the podium battle and Ginanni had the stage off. If he's not interested in attacking on the final climbs, then he might at least put in a turn for his team leader.... |

Gaining time on the flat? Unexpected but brilliant for Schleck. Im sure the likes of Sella will gain time in the Mountains, so attacking when the terrain most suits him is the way to do it, so far so good.

Only one flat to go, before I will hopefully get to see what Ulissi can do on the hilly terrain. Last season he managed two stagewins, and with a Milano-San Remo win under his belt I have high hopes of him doing a decent run in.

What the Hell
Spend all day working and drop our own leader???
Seriously, the only good thing about Santander working, was that I thought at least Arroyo would be at the front, but no, he goes and ruins the one race where I really needed him.
That's seriously ruined my day.

Ah, I'm pink! How about that. I thought that Lang was going to get dropped in those hills, but he proved me wrong. Freaking brilliant tactics. And having 4 riders in the first big group including Kohl, that's pleasing, Who cares that Ricco and Schleck gained time, they will be in front of Kohl in the end anyway.
