Where can I find an updated ranking? Have tried to find one on the UCI site but failed.

Are these countries really so close? Last year the Netherlands were so much ahead of Great Britain.

Only 3 points between Netherlands and Great Britain at the moment, though technically its a couple of points higher for now, after Millar took 3rd today.

1. Spain 1,306
2. Italy 1,041
3. Australia 1,022
4. Belgium 912
5. Germany 576
6. Luxembourg 536
7. Great Britain 504
8. Netherlands 501
9. United States 482
10. France 377

The differences between last year for Britain is, Wiggins hasnt completely wasted his season this year, and scored well in the week long French stage races, and we've seen Ben Swift and Peter Kennaugh really start to develop, and take good GC placings at TDU and Poland. (Cavendish being the constant source of points)

Indeed. Plus Gesink failing in the GT again. Actually I hoped for a bigger gap to Germany as Martin and Klöden had a good season if you ignore the Tour. Probably the rest did not score very well.

On the other hand, last year Germany was still behind the Netherlands.

Kittel's points dont count as Skil arent a WorldTour team.

Germany's points almost entirely come from Martin, Kloden and Greipel. Theyve only had 9 points scorers, just the 1 more than Britain - it was only Wegmann scoring a point in Poland that qualified Germany for the full Worlds allocation of 9 men

Yeah. Have noticed this after going through the list. Kittel really should start bring in a WT team then. Wink

And Wegmann did very well then, too.

Radom thought :
If the first X countries are allowed 9 riders, why not calculate a "first" ranking based on the best 9 riders of countries, then allow the first countries in that ranking 9 riders, then calculate a "second" ranking based on the best 6 or 7 riders of countries (those who topped the bill in the 9 riders classification wouldn't count here), and allow those countries 6 or 7 riders, etc.

France's only 10th in that classification, when according to CQ they're the 4th country of the season. Ridiculous.

Ridiculous. Hard to find a word to describe better the UCI.

What about corrupt? Or self-serving?

Here and now is all that matters Wink Netherlands are supposed to finish above the UK anyway, we've only just started getting good at this with more than 1 cyclist at a time!

Just wait though, Millar will win Eneco Tour (or at least be 2nd behind Gilbert), Gesink will crash out in Canada - injured for the rest of the season, and Cavendish will win enough sprints in the Vuelta. All of these things will definately happen.

Netherlands are always above GBR on rankings that make sense
7. (8) [Ned] Netherlands Europe Riders 4401
9. (9) [Gbr] Great Britain Europe Riders 3808

7. (8) [Ned] Netherlands Europe Riders 6062
9. (9) [Gbr] Great Britain Europe Riders 5095
Also, the Netherlands scored much better than last season in the classics and most smalls Tours, it looked for once they could finish top 5 in the WT this year.
But unfortunately ALL the worst things happened in the Tour.
1) Gesink - injured 2) Mollema - sick 3) Poels - sick... Hoogerland who had a chance for stage win got ridden of by a car..

I would like to see GBR or Germany perform if they had that much bad luck.
If we had a nomral Tour they/d been 100/150 points ahead.
And that's why i hate the WT ranking, too much luck dependant.

Not the case with CQ

So the Olympics are also decided based on these rankings, just at the end of 2011, as t stands South Africa get no one into either.

So unamused

And ignoring Andreas Klöden, who had a chance for a top5 this year, too. Wink
I think NL should normally be ahead of GBR, but close to Germany.

here we go..like every year. There should be different system..rankings should made after Vuelta (No need this year..because Gesink and Mollema won't be there). Bad luck. Like others team don't have bad luck.

I've read and seen that tonight's football match in London has been cancelled because of the riots and disturbances there.
Is Sunday's pre-Olympic race still going to happen ?
And is there any broadcasting ? French €uro$port and France Televisions (usual cycling races broadcasters) don't seem to have it scheduled.

Actually Mollema will be in the Vuelta together with Kruijswijk and Slagter.

It hasn't been cancelled yet, no idea about TV though

Skil and Rabobank's Vuelta squads:

Skil

Marcel Kittel Cool
Alexandre Geniez
Tom Veelers
Albert Timmer
Koen de Kort
Roy Curvers
Johannes Fröhlinger
Simon Geschke
Yukihiro Doi

For once they actually have a squad capable of winning. Kittel as their sprinter and Geniez is a good climber. Kittel will have a decent leadout with Curvers, Veelers and De Kort, probably.

Rabobank

Carlos Barredo
Oscar Freire
Juan Manuel Garate
Luis Leon Sanchez
Steven Kruijswijk
Bauke Mollema
Tom Jelte Slagter
Matti Breschel
Paul Martens

Strong team, stronger than their Tour team if you ask me.

I'm still hoping it goes ahead, both to see what the course is like (BBC is showing the coverage a week later? I think?), and so that my race is still nice and easy. I'd rather not have an influx of 20 more elites showing up thanks.

Ive not seen anything to suggest BBC are covering at all, which would be a shame if theres no TV shots of it - you would have thought part of the testing would be in filming it.
