Yeh, risky. I'm counting on him being allowed to take take off at the bottom of the climb and have a lead of around a minute before the fireworks go off. Plus, the odds are pretty good value. |

I'm just hoping there will be real gaps today. I think this is one of two stages (the other being the finish on Galibier) where the difference can be made by the climbers. The stage to Alpe d'Huez is too short in my opinion to open big gaps. So today is the day for the Schlecks.

ITV Cycling have had a camera in the Saxo-Bank car, but Bjarne Riis is not known for his entertaining personality. In fact, they've been making jokes about how cold he is and how rarely he smiles.
ie:
@nedboulting Ned Boulting
Air conditioning broke down last night in hotel room. But it was OK. Got Bjarne to stand in the corner. Instant chill. Slept like a baby.
Today, they've put a live feed into Garmin's car:
@nedboulting Ned Boulting
The live camera is in Mr Vaughters' team car today. A bit more dynamic. He's got his Elvis Costello specs on. That's charisma, Bjarne.
Vaughters is ploughing his way through a plastic box of chewing gum dragées . He's read l'Équipe too. And they've not yet started moving. |

Don't underestimate the stage to Alpe d'Huez just because it is short. The pace will be higher as a result of the shorter stage. And they still have to get up Col du Galibier and Alpe d'Huez.

Yeah, but on Alp d'huez everybody wants to win so one of the favorites will crack up there. But nothing more then that i think. Today i hope for the Schlecks aswell

But the differences won't get huge. So this and Galibier stage are the chances for the Schlecks to get the margin they need for the TT.

Apparently, it's not only Rojas complaining about Cavendish. Gilbert complained yesterday that Cavendish was being pulled by his team mates over the small climb before the intermediate sprint so he could contest it.

Well, it depends on how fast the peleton goes on that stage up to Alp d'Huez. It's all relative. And if somebody needs to make time before the TT, they will go like wild hungry dogs up there, and somebody will crack.

The same Gilbert who went 1km before the sprint, then complained about that?
The same Gilbert who wants to force Cavendish out the race to win green?
Sorry for not believing him

That's ok, but where there's smoke, there's fire. And what is wrong with forcing him out of the race?

Hehe, it's the curse of the green jersey Every year it's somebody complaining about somebody else. Gilbert should be happy he's even in the running for that jersey and just shut up. He will get his points, and Cav will get his on the flat stages. That's that.

He he's trying to get him kicked out it's wrong. If he puts his team in front and rides hard on the mountain stages, thats fine.

He he's trying to get him kicked out it's wrong. If he puts his team in front and rides hard on the mountain stages, thats fine.
If he's cheating, he should be kicked out, so nothing wrong with them complaining, providing they're telling the truth.
