Wow. That's gotta be one of the craziest final 3 km I've ever seen. It's a miracle no rider went down.
Gatto seems to have turned into a good puncher and Contador surprised me too. Weening did well today. He was at the front of the peleton at the right time. |

Bit surprised to see Contador going but not disappointed relaly, it makes the stage more unpredictable than I had initially thought.

On a stage where Contador comes 2nd, you think Kristoff is suddenly a top sprinter because he came 4th?
In that case; Kristoff, welcome to the elite club of top climbers!
Contador attacked. If you see who Kristoff beat in the sprint, you will probably change your mind.
If the terrain allows Contador to attack inside the final 2km, and hold on to take 2nd, then that isnt a proper Sprinters stage.

not only 17 secs for Contador but more importantly it's the confidence of arriving in front of his GC rivals. I wonder how Nibali and Scarponi face looked like when they realised Contador was gone? |

Appollonio was faster than Ciolek, Chichi and Farrar on the 2nd stage. Also on 6th stage too. Add to that he is only 21.

Thats right avoid talking about Kristoff because you know you're wrong.
Sure Kristoff, I can admit had a decent stage, but f**k no is he an elite sprinter, Cav and Robbie both can't survive the hills, thats why Popo attacked at the end, because Robbie was cooked. So if you subtract those two names, the names of riders he did beat wasn't all that impressive. Still Kristoff did ride well, just not as an elite anything.

Kristoff has never been known as a rider with his strength in the mountains. In Ringerike GP 2 years ago, raced in my home county of Buskerud with a very rolling landscape, he was dropped along with amateur riders as soon as the road started to rise. He is not at ALL known for being strong uphill. |

Not that I want to interrupt your interesting debate about the greatness of Kristoff, but the real race begins tomorrow! Let the fireworks start!

He came here to get a stage win. Stage 12 is by far the most suited for him and one he wants. If he gets his stage win he will go out if giro hapilly. If not ......

Beating Ciolek who finished 172nd, 30 seconds is certainly a big feat, Chicchi wasn't even close to the win there either, and it was obviously not a good ride by Farrar. Stage 6 was an uphill sprint and by using that logic you could say that Di Luca is a star sprinter because he beat the same riders as Appollonio did. But sure, Appollonio is good and probably a big talent, but that still doesn't make Kristoff an elite sprinter, does it? |

Indeed. The stage looks great, beside the racing tomorrow, I'm looking forward to see RAIs production of Etna, it should be some spectacular photos from the volcano. |

Ciolek finished 8th on stage 6 and that was the sprint I meant . Kristoff is by a long shot not an elite sprinter and will take him few seasons to get up there. Just was saying that Appollonio is closer to being with elite than Kristoff is at this point.

You do realize Ferrari also beat Appollonio on stage 2 right? To be honest, neither of these guys have beat any top sprinters on a day where they actually had a half-decent result. Almost any sprinter could beat Chicchi or Ciolek on a day off, and Ciolek haven't really showed alot in recent years either. Kristoff had an okay result in the Vattenfall Cyclassics last year where he also beat Bennati and Davis. They both have a long way to go to be considered an elite sprinter, and right as of now I wouldn't say either are better than the other based on their results. |
