Thanks kopfan.
Colombia squad:
Luis Felipe Laverde
Juan Pablo Forero
Dalivier Ospina
Darwin Atapuma
Hugo Salazar
Johan Chaves
Carlos Martinez
Camilo Suárez
Laverde will be our leader, as he is the best puncheur in our squad. I'm sure he will be able to get a good result, as his form is quite good after participating in San Luis.
If the pace is slow and there is no attackers, then we have a plan B too. Juan Pablo Forero. He is strong enough to survive the hills and win the sprint from a bigger group.
The rest of our team will just be riding as domestiques to help our two leaders.
Favourites:
Bert De Waele Landbouwkrediet
As I can't be sure of the shape of any rider, I can just guess from the stats. De Waele was really weak in San Luis, but he looked better and better the longer in the race we got. He is the strongest puncheur on the startlist in this race, so I put the pressure on him and call him the main favourite of this race. His weakness is that he has got a really weak team. Most of the riders Landbouwkrediet has sent here is Northern Classics specialists, which means that they are weak in hill. I do still think that De Waele is strong enough to win this race.
Sandy Casar FDJ
Probably the second best puncheur in this race, after De Waele. He is probably very motivated to win this, as the race is taking part in his home country. Casar's biggest problem is that FDJ has two leaders, Casar and sprinter Bonnet, which means that he won't get 100% assistance from his team. However, even without team mates, Casar is capable of winning this race. I think he will do a podium here, because of his nationality boost.
Aitor Galdós Caja Rural
After showing good form in San Luis, Galdós is now also going to Marseille. He didn't win any stage in San Luis, but he was Top 5 in several mass sprints. His main ace is his good sprint, which makes him really dangerous if the race ends in a sprint from a medium large group. Thanks to his good puncheur abilities, he is able to survive some hills and still have power left to sprint. With support from team mates Moreno and Sánchez Pimienta, Galdós will certainly be one of the riders fighting it out for the win.

Thanks Bikeroel.
01.02.2011: Grand Prix de la Marseillaise
Allauch - Aubagne: 133.6km
Six riders broke away to form the day's breakaway. None of them were any big name, though, so we didn't worry about them staying away.
On the day's biggest climb, Moreno (Caja Rural), Gaudin (Europcar) and Blain (Endura Racing) attacked out of the pack and bridged up to the breakaway, which now consisted of nine riders.
The new riders gave power to the breakaway, they were still two minutes clear with twenty kilometres left. Laverde had wonderful legs today, so he decided to leave the pack as soon as the final climb steeped up. Nobody even tried to follow him. Didn't they have legs to do that?
Laverde quickly bridged the two minute gap up to the breakaway, still with a lot of power left in his legs. Still no reaction in the pack.
Laverde just rode past the breakaway riders as if they had been standing still. What a show the Colombian gave us here! The pack were over a minute down on him.
Under the ten kilometer to go banner, Laverde lead the breakaway by half a minute and the pack by 50 seconds. However, the gap back to the pack decreased fast, because of Laverde's terrible descending skills.
The gap continued to decrease, with two kilometres left Laverde was only thirty seconds ahead of the pack. The other breakaway riders had been caught by the very fast peloton. Most of our riders were still in the front of the pack, but they were way too tired to be able to sprint.
The gap melted down really fast when the sprint started, but Laverde was strong enough to stay clear and win the race. Dumoulin won the sprint in the pack, on the same time as Laverde. Great win for us!

To extreme-extreme?
Laverde is in great form at the moment because of San Luis, so I'm gonna wait until March to see how the results gets when the AI is in good shape too.

Nice win. The first 1-2 months are always dominating with good training plans. LAter the season you should have more problems with a team like this I think.

@roturn: Yeah, that's what I think too. If the results continue like this even in March, then I'm gonna edit the save game to make extreme more extreme.

@tsmoha: It's never too late for a nice comment. Thanks!
Sorry for slow updating. Updates will be coming faster from now on.
Colombia es Pasión - Squad
Juan Pablo Forero
Daliver Ospina
Darwin Atapuma
Carlos Martinez
Camilo Suarez
Hugo Salazar
Hector Paez
Wilmar Perez
We don't expect much here, as all our riders is completely out of form. The only one that might get a result here is Forero, thanks to his good sprinting abilities. All our other riders will do their best to protect him during the race. We'll see what we can do here.
Favourites:
Alessandro Petacchi Lampre - ISD
None of the other starting riders is even close to Petacchi's class. If his form is OK, then he should win this easily. He hasn't raced anything yet this season, though, so we'll see how his shape is. No matter what, he is the greatest rider here.
Borut Bozic Vacansoleil - DCM
The fast Slovenian is a bit of an outsider. He isn't the best sprinter in the pack, but sometimes he suprises the better sprinters with really good results in mass sprints. If Petacchi can't hold the pressure of being the favourite, then Bozic will certainly net that and perhaps even steal the win here.
Giovanni Visconti Farnese Vini - Neri Sottoli
Visconti isn't an actual sprinter, but he is deadly if he comes to the finish in a smaller group. He is also a very good puncheur, which makes him even more dangerous. He can win a sprint from a group and he can win it by attacking out of the pack. Visconti isn't the favourite, but you can't underestimate him.

Dont feel pressured by not having an update for a while, thats how I always lose my motivation, just promise to yourself that if you take a break from this you will come back to it later.

Thanks a lot valverde. I'll think of that from now on.
06.02.2011: GP Costa degli Etruschi
San Vicenzo - Donoratico: 186.3km
It was terrible weather during the whole race, which resulted in that many riders ended up on the ground. The most unlucky rider today was Valerio Agnoli, who crashed a total of 3 times during the day!
Since we didn't have a leadout man for Forero, he had to follow other trains. He wasn't in a very good position when the sprint began, though, as he obviously followed the wrong train. At the front Vacansoleil was leading out Borut Bozic. Surprisingly, Alessandro Petacchi didn't trust his own men, and decided to follow the Vacansoleil train instead. The rest of the Lampre team didn't care and was still setting up a train, side by side with Vacansoleil.
Forero was really lucky, though, as the man he was following, Pierpaolo De Negri (Farnese) blasted out of the Lampre train with great speed. Petacchi had still not made his move, but was looking really good behind the Vacansoleil guys.
In the final corner, Petacchi made his move. He easily jumped out of the Vacansoleil train and took the lead with just over a K to go. Forero still had a little bit of energy left thanks to his great daily form (+4). but was a bit blocked.
With 300 m to the line, Forero found a gap and immediately jumped forward. Petacchi was still in the lead, but was fading a little bit.
However, Petacchi had enough in the tank to hold on. This was a real show from the Italian, who had been in the wind for over a kilometer. His form is quite good I guess. Bozic took second behind Ale-Jet, a good result for the Slovenian.
A photofinish showed that Forero just edged out Anthony Ravard (AG2R) for the last podium spot. This wouid not have been possible without the luck with his daily form. We are really happy with this result, as we had not expected anything here.

Thanks tsmoha and Bikeroel . I'm not sure that I can find enough time to report the first stage of Vuelta a Mallorca today, but perhaps after I've finished watching the Giro. Stay tuned until then!

Colombia es Pasión - Squad:
Alex Cano Ardila
Juan Pablo Forero
Taiji Nishitani
Victor Hugo Peña
Wilmar Perez
Hector Paez
Dalivier Ospina
Darwin Atapuma
This is the first race of the season for both Cano Ardila and Peña. Because of that, they aren't in perfect shape, so we don't expect them to do anything else than just start gaining form for goals later in the season. For the sprints, we have a strong team with both Forero and Nishitani in good shape. My hoping is that they might steal a podium on one of the flat stages, perhaps even a win. Perez, Paez, Ospina and Atapuma will all be doing their best to assist our leaders.
Favourites:
Cadel Evans BMC Racing Team
Just like Cano Ardila and Peña, Evans starts his season here on Mallorca. He has, of course raced the national championships, but nothing serious so far this season. The Aussie is the big favourite to win this race, because of his good climbing skills and good TT:ing. Even without perfect shape he is a real threat on the harder stages and will surely be one of the riders fighting for the overall win in the end.
Roman Kreuziger Pro Team Astana
The young Czech is probably the biggest threat to Evans in this race. He is a bit weaker in hill, but he should regain eventual time losses in the TT. The big questionmark around Kreuziger is how his form is. One thing he doesn't have to worry about is the strength of his team. He's got Vinokourov, Gasparotto and Masciarelli here with him, so he will get a great backup from them.
Chris Horner Team Radioshack
Old man Horner is probably better than ever at the moment. At 40 years, he has developed (!) into a very good puncheur. He's also an average TT:er, which makes him more dangerous in this race. However, just like the other favourites, you can never be sure about their current shape. Radioshack has sent a strong team with Horner, including his countryman Leipheimer.

07.02.2011: Vuelta a Mallorca
Stage 1
Palma - Palma: 113.1km
Nothing important happened until the final kilometres. Peña (+3) did his best to put Nishitani (0) and Forero (+5) in a good position for the sprint. Rabobank was at the front leading out their leader Breschel. We were a little bit behind, but no big danger.
Nishitani took over when the sprint began and did it very well. He took Forero to the front and even created a small gap back to the others.
Just before flamme rouge, Forero took the lead. CCC Polsat's Matysiak was following just behind Forero, but none of the other sprinters looked like they had enough speed to win the stage.
Matysiak couldn't pass Forero in the final kilometer, so we got a great start here on Mallorca. Matysiak took second place in a photofinish against Tyler Farrar, who ended with twice the speed of the other sprinters. If he would have started his sprint from a better position I think he'd won.
