As B&O is rumored to pursue M Fothen, press in the Nethrlands have started to wonder about Kruijswijks future. With such a big rider for stage races coming in, the team might look into cutting on the classics department.

Transfer Statement from the team manager:
"In reply to some of the rumours regarding some of the riders from the 2012 Team B&O setup, I would like to make a few things clear. First things first, yes, Edvald Boasson Hagen might be leaving the team. He has not been able to find his form throughout the season and has expressed to me personally that if a good offer comes along he will seriously consider it. Of course the team has a say aswell. The offer has to be of a magnitude of which the team can bring in a Top 10 GT rider or perhaps a swap for a rider of this ability.
As for the rest of the riders in the team. Basically everyone is staying. Yes, I'm aware that if an offer is to be made that cannot be refused, a transfer could go ahead, but that seems unlikely as of now."

Aker - MOT didn't like at all to see another team interested in Edvald Boasson Hagen, who they hope to bring home for 2013. Ember felt it was necessary to talk to the press once again about a possible offer for Boasson Hagen.
"Well, Boasson Hagen is what we want for 2013, and Alarcon is well aware of that. Seeing Team B&O suggestion on a deal including Boasson Hagen, I think we need to act. And that's why we'll offer Alarcon in a trade for Boasson Hagen. He seems to be the a good match to Team B&O's wishes of a top 10 GT rider. Alarcon's many race days combined with being one of the seven best climbers in the world should guarantee him a nice amount of solid GC placings in the biggest races on the calendar, which also should give him a good point haul.
It's not like we want to split up with Alarcon, but if that's necessary to bring Boasson Hagen to the team, we'll be ready to do it. Alarcon told me today that he understands the situation, and he will take what he gets, and do the best of it."
We understand it has been a hectic few days of rumours for Team B&O, but do you have any comment on ember's latest say on his wishes of bringing Boasson Hagen to his Norwegian team, including Alarcon the other way? |

On the rumours regarding Alarcon:
"I'm unsure about Alarcon. He's a great climbing specialist no doubt, but his wage is very high and we cannot decide anything before we have an idea about our transfer budget. That being said, Alarcon wouldn't slot right into the team because of his nationality. We have always strived to sign north and east european riders, because we think they generally have the best healthiest mentality for elite athletes. That's all I can say right now."

Metinvest responds to "media speculations"
We are sorry that managment of B&O heared about Ukrainian interest surrounding Andrei Grivko from press and media as from the first place.
The rumors are based on truth, but it should be teams not media, who are pointing out interest. So we in Metinvest hope that this situation is not closing any doors between the both teams. We are prepared for serious transfer negotiations and you will hear from us at the beginning of the transfer season for sure.

Silly season has barely started but the rumours are flying wild, especially for Team B&O. Riders like Hagen, Grivko, Klemme and Kruijswijk have already been rumoured away to different teams, while B&O allegedly are looking at the possibility of signing Markus Fothen.
The team has set its sight on dominating the stage race scene and that could mean a goodbye to Edvald Boasson Hagen who has been with the team since 2008, but has just come off a sub-par performance this year.
In that respect Markus Fothen would be an obvious target, but also the
Slovenian Janez Brajkovic is now said to be of interest for the Danish Pro Tour team.
These are all just guessings but the rumours of Fothen and Brajkovic seems substantial as they were also mentioned one year ago.

Pluchkin does the double, Christensen grabs a first
The final races of the season, the National Championships are going on these days and Team B&O has had a decent run of results.
The team's road captain took silver in the Ukrainian Road Race and Nico Keinath finished only 10 seconds off Stefan Schumacher's gold run in the German ITT to take another silver medal.
The best performances though, has come from Alex Pluchkin and Michael Færk Christensen. No doubt Pluchkin is the strongest rider in the small cycling nation of Moldova and he has been showing that for quite some time. This year he repeated his performance from last season winning both the Moldovan Road Race and Individual Time Trial to take double gold.
Michael Færk Christensen has not had the best of season as far as individual accomplishments concern. He made up for that at the Nationals though, where he raced home for Bronze in the Road Race and held off team-mate André Steensen to take the gold medal in the individual time trial for the very first time.
The only rider who is yet to compete is Edvald Boasson Hagen, who is currently being rumoured off to teams like Festina and Aker - MOT. The former U23 World Champion must be starving to prove that he can still race his bike.

An insider has allegedly leaked details of a proposed transfer from Pendleton's to B&O, a straight swap of Phillipe Gilbert and Edvald Boasson Hagen. The Pendleton's manager remained tight-lipped when broached about the subject but his silence has caused cycling forumites to believe the rumour. Press come today to press the B&O manager on his knowledge of the deal and whether such a trade would interest him. |

On the Gilbert-Hagen exchange:
"That would be a very good deal for Pendleton I think. Gilbert is a very good rider, but in terms of age and overall ability Hagen is just a notch ahead. The way I see it anyway. I don't think a straight swap would make much sense for us. Overall we won't be rushing onto the transfer makret this season. We have some quality in our team that would be much better off, if we spent some energy on improving even further."

B&O's response has clearly irked the Pendleton's manager, who responded in saying: 'Funny that they think EBH is better when Gilbert won a lot more points. Not that I care, I wasn't gonna make a bid anyway.' A little petulant maybe, but... |

In the Spotlight
Rasmus Guldhammer
He is the big up-and-comer in the team of up-and-comers and his name is Rasmus Guldhammer. When we talked to him last year he explained prioritating stage races for classics and his goal of conquering the Tour de France podium. So what has happened since then?
Q: So 2012, what was that like?
RG: It was pretty good. Third place at Alpe d'Huez in the Dauphine, Top 20s in Romandie and Cali, plus that elusive stage win in Colombia. I must say, I had a good time. Also helping Alex on his way to his first podium finish at Le Tour was a great experience for me.
Q: And 2013, what will that be like?
RG: Hopefully even better. Alex is going all-in on Le Tour this season and I will most likely be there to help him out once again. Also we have been a bit back and forth on the idea of letting me ride the Vuelta as team captain and that's something that I would very much like to try.
Q: This season the team finished 14th, surely that has to better in 2013?
RG: You are right! But I think we surely will. Pluchkin will be the favourite for the Tour once again and I have a feeling Nico [Keinath] will do better in the Giro. Also I hope to go Top 15 in Vuelta a España if I'm racing. The big question as of now is of course Hagen, but I know the team won't let him go unless a very good offer lands in the inbox.
Rasmus Guldhammer, ladies and gentlemen.

Sten Stenersen and Edvald Boasson Hagen were the last Team B&O rider in action at the respective National Championships. Being the only two riders from the Danish outfit at the Championships, they tag-teamed their way to two gold medals.
Stenersen did the dirty work in the road race to set up Hagen who had no problem to distance the silver medal winner and former team-mate at Maxbo Bianchi [now Team B&O] Lars Petter Nordhaug. Hagen who might be moving to another team during the off-season has made sure he has caught the attention of all interested teams.
On to the ITT and again Tem B&O ran off with the goldiest of medals, when Sten Stenersen redeemed his second place from last season to show defending champion Thor Hushovd, who is the strongest Norwegian in the discipline. It was the young mans very first professional win and he will be very pleased to wear his national colours in the 2013 Season.

Team Goals for 2013 announced
At a Press Conference at the team's Copenhagen Headquarter, the team announced some very ambitious goals for next season's races.
First up is the important Tour de France. The goal here is a Top 3 finish, but the team manager was certain that Pluchkin is going to be more than capable of winning the 2013 edition of Le Grande Boucle.
Pluchkin was also the key of two of the other goals, that were winning Tour de Suisse and finishing on the podium in the Tour de Romandie. In 2012, Nico Keinath finished in 7th Place in Paris-Nice and a Top 10 finish in 2013 is the overall objective here.
And finally the team looks to improve on their performance in the team standings as they will be looking for a Top 10.
Interestingly none of the goals are designed to match Hagen's regular target races.

I see Gesink's and Pluchkin's goals will clash again. Or at least the Romandie one will

It always does. Would be a darn shame if that wasn't the case once more

Yeah I picked win Romandie too... You teams with the big superstars should focus on the bigger races, leave the little week long Swiss races alone

Hagen: "I'm definitely leaving"
Renewals have started and some big rumours are already flourishing around the market. Pearl Adidas might be waving goodbye to both Marchado and Bakelants, while Edvald Boasson Hagen, who has been synonym with Team B&O since 2008, now is confirming his interest in joining a new team.
The Norwegian had the following to say after negotiations today allegedly started:
"It is first of all not a question about money for me. I have just come off my worst season performance in 2012 and I feel the team has lost its faith in me. This felt quite clear when the team goals were announced and no Classics goals were part."
On the rumours regarding a swith to Aker and Festina:
"I feel sad leaving this team. I won the U23 Worlds and Amstel Gold Race here, so it is definitely emotional for me, but with what has happened, I'm definitely leaving. Aker and Festina could be great matches for me. Aker since they are Norwegian and Festina because of their expertise in classics.
Hagen beat Bakelants to the line at the 2011 Amstel Gold Race.

Alex Rasmussen leaves Team B&O after failed negotiations
After three rounds of negotiating rider deals for the coming season, the wage demands of Alex Rasmussen has not been met by his now former team.
It has not been possible to get a reaction from either part, but reports suggest that the Team B&O directors were not willing to meet Rasmussen's wage demands.
Rasmussen has been a key performer in the teams TTT setup through the last seasons, and it seems likely that with the reintroduction of the discipline in the team biggest season goal, the Tour de France, that the team will be looking for a replacement.

Metinvest-Emirates on pursue for Grivko, Metivest CEO sanity in play
This is not the first time something is written about new PCT setup from Ukraine putting the pressure on managment of Team B&O, regarding their rider Andrei Grivko. Rumors say, that Metinvest CEO is somewhat mad about getting Grivko to his home coutry squad and he is still trying to find to way to get his services for 2013. This is said to get so far, that his neighbours can hear him screaming at nights something like "Grivko! How much, how, how!". It seems that CEO Popov fears he will not have enough funds for the move to become reality, lets wait what the future will tell us.

Grivko not ruling out eventual Metinvest move
If one rider is the heart and soul of a team it's Andriy Grivko of Team B&O. The Ukrainian has been there for the entire existance of the team and has been influential in all his seasons at the Danish outfit.
Rumours are circulating linking Grivko to the new Ukrainian team, Team Metinvest. The Team B&O Road Captain has issued the following statement:
"A move to Metinvest is definitely interesting for me. However, I don't see me going there this season. I still have a lot to accomplish as road captain at Team B&O and I want to be there when Alex finally wears that coveted yellow jersey at the Champs Elysee. I'm still relatively young, so when I feel my time at B&O is up, a move like this would definitely be taken into consideration.
