Yeah, a standard background for all competitors would definitely help.
As would anonymity. It's not that people will be influenced by favouritism (okay, maybe...) but being able to say that Person A is better than Person B is a lot easier if you're not sure who A and B are exactly.

Another idea would be to make the contest with the real requests all over the forum. So next to the contest also the people with the request are happy |
