That Flavio Becca guy must be crazy, paying that amount of money and not getting any sponsorship out of it. |

Fuck you Kim Anderson and Brian Nygaard. You promised the team name would not be Team Leopard!
Should probably say RIP to Sassi though. Revolutionized cycling training (and doping, but that can stay out for now).

Omega Pharma Lotto wasn`t invited to the Tour of Oman by the ASO. So they fear that it will be the same with the Tour of Qatar. It was very surprising and now their trainings plan sucks and there is no real alternative because it`s too late.
So their last hope is now that the team list might change again as it is not 100% yet.
I don`t know the reason for this ASO decision, especially in the knowledge that Pegasus Cycling is still in their list |

RIP Aldo.
Like Isso said, 51 is an age where you're not supposed to die.

As I mentioned in the Contador doping thread, McQuaid has been raising a few interesting (debate wise) issues in an interview.
1. Longer bans for some substanes (EPO), shorter bans for others (Ventoline)
2. Giro and the Vuelta with shorter race days, the Tour staying on 21.
“I think we could reduce the length of the Giro and the Vuelta by a few days,” he said. “The Tour will always last three weeks. We can’t touch the Tour. It’s the biggest race in the world, it’s our shop window."
Personally, I disagree with both of them.
1. Seems to me that McQuaid wants to lower the ban for Contador using this paragraph. Either way, I find clenbuterol just as bad as blood doping. Both of them improve the riders' performances in one way or another. But I agree that EPO should give a four year ban - but unlike McQuaid, I want it for all substances, not just EPO and blood doping.
2. Since McQuaid didn't reason his wish (in the Cyclingnews translation), I'm not really sure why he wants this. I don't really see any good reasons. |

I agree with your 1.
As for 2. it's easy : the shorter the races, the less important they become. McQuaid deadly wants to reduce Grand Tours' influence over cycling, and to promote exotic races throughout the world. I'm not saying it's good or not, but it's the only satisfying way for me to understand his claim. |

That's exactly what he wants. And with McQuaid's typical anvil-on-head subtlety, his next sentence immediately after that was praising what a great race the Tour of California is.
The man's agenda is obvious and sickens me. He wants money and no public doping scandals (which is very different from wanting no doped riders), and that's it.

The Spanish keep trying to fuck over our sport:
It is time for fans to start funding cycling races, according to the Basque government. The Basque sports minister has suggested that entrance fees be charged for races.
Cyclingnews

The main beauty of our sport is that it's open to all, for free. The prospect of charging people to stand on a mountain or hill to watch cyclists ride past is a horrible idea.
Just another reason for my increasing hatred of Spanish peoples within cycling.

Well, I agree it is a stupid idea, but I don´t know where your hatred for all spanish comes from. Let me guess, you went to Spain on holiday and couldn´t score with the local girls because you were just too ugly?? Or perhaps you are too frustrated with your own country's lack of success and are envious of spanish? (of course not, they are all doped as everybody knows, right?). Anyway, just get a grip mate, and don´t take it on a whole country, that is just plain ignorant at its best, racist at its worst |

What part of "my increasing hatred of Spanish peoples within cycling" did you not quite get?
How can you defend your country's great federations stance on doping, where they clearly try to get every single one of them off scot free?
Perhaps to counter my increasing hatred, you could have reacted with a clear logical argument based on something some Spanish Cycling Federation member has done to further the cause of cycling.
Still, I doubt they would, they barely even run their own Grand Tour anymore... |

In other news, now Bryan Nygaard claims the team is not called Team Leopard and the real name will be reveled on the presentation in January.
Also, Hendrik Redant says he was shocked to find out that Team Pegasus were in financiel troubles.

The charging to watch cycling races has been floated around before and indeed has been done at some races too. |
