I have another idea: Let's act like typical consumers and demand the impossible. For example, that cyanide go back in time to fix the problem

Hey CrueTrue,
I'm happily into 2013 in my career using PCM.daily Expansion Pack. However, the changes in the 1.0.3.0 patch would be really nice to have.
So... I'm wondering if the Pack is even compatible with the new patch (i'm guessing no) and also, if it is compatible, would i need to start a new career.
Thanks in advance. |

You will not benefit from the DB changes that have been made. I haven't checked whether there are any (other than the new ladder races which are using a ladder database anyway), but most fixes are not DB-related. |

Thanks for the response.
Actually, the main thing I'm interested in would be the memory management fixes. I still get some crashes when playing high RAM stages and maybe this would improve that.
In your educated opinion, would the patch potentially improve stability? Or would it cause more problems because of DB compatibility?
Thanks again.

You should be able to benefit from those changes even though you're using a DB based on another patch. |

Sweet.
Thanks for your dedicated work in the PCM Community. PCM 2010 wouldn't be the same without PCM.daily. |

So I went ahead and installed the patch. And then reinstalled the expansion pack just to be safe (although all i think i needed was the local.whatever file.)
Just to experiment, I raised my graphics settings to try to crash the game and it didn't work. Instead it just ran smoothly without any problems.
The only thing that seems off is the pictures of the equipment don't show up. In the 3D stage, they work perfectly though
EDIT: I did succeed at making it crash. But i still think the performance is improved in my case.

Yes, it seems as though that the Local.cdb-file from the PCM.daily DB can't be used with the patch, resulting in some pink flags and equipment photos.
I'll update it soon, probably later today.
Edit: Actually, Kami found a temporary solution. After copying the Local.cdb from Program Files/Cyanide/PCM/PCM:daily DB Backup to My Docs/PCM, right click it and mark it as "read-only". This way, PCM can't overwrite it.

You just have to put it in both folder so that it overwrites itself |

Worked perfectly. All the flags and equipment pics display properly.
Thanks. |

If you have pink flags you have to copy the PCMDaily local to MyDocuments/Pro Cycling Manager 2010 and to MainFolder/Userhome/MyDoc/ |

If you have reinstalled the game, you need the patch 1.0.3.0 (Update from 1.0.0.0) due to obvious reasons.
But if you still have the patch 1.0.2.2 lying around, you could install it, followed by patch 1.0.3.0 (Update from 1.0.2.2).
Then install the "PCM.daily's Expansion Pack", then the "Update to PCM.daily's Expansion Pack"
In general, just use common sense. |
