If Basso is at his Giro's level, and Contador at his last Tour level, Basso will be properly slaughtered... Contador would have climbed the Zonconlan 3 minutes faster than Basso, who won the stage, 8 days ago (based on their respective power outputs).
In Dauphene yes but in Italy I think Basso would give a good fight. The climbs are completely different in Italy than Tour and Vuelta.

Indeed ..dont take Basso talk seriously..guy just won a Giro after 4 year break. He will be riding tour and maybe help a Nibali there.
He can no do nothing against Contador there..
Wasn't it more than likely that Nibali skips Tour
But I agree that Basso probably won't do much

Looking back at the Dauphiné and Tour in 2007 (and sudden retirement in 2008 right after attacking on a flat stage), is there any doubt at all whatsoever that Moreaukourov was on CERA?

Rumour here was that there has been a friendly deal between him and whichever authority (UCI ? ASO ? AFLD ?), like "either you go home, either we send you home, with 2 or 4 years of suspension".
I guess he suddenly felt bad and had to urge home.
Corruption all the way... I'm just not sure who he made the deal with.
As for the dope, CERA or something else, I have no clue.

You can't have a young guy riding so many hard races so young. If Liquigas are smart, they'll rest Nibali.
x2..
I was little unhappy when Nibali anounced has Pellizotti replacement. That spoiled he's Tour preparation.. But he pulled out podium place with he's current form..this is a little confort.
Still ... he is the best Liquigas rider
you seem so sure about it,that is because he was third in Giro where the top riders are missing?Great talent yes,but best rider...pfff
Go Roman!

The point is that he wasn't in top form, and he was a helper for Basso. If he was in top form and the captain of the team, of course he would have done a better Giro. He did also beat Kreuziger at last year's Tour de France. |

I'm aware of that. That's why I said if he climbs like in 2006. He's climbing pretty well, bet he hasn't shown TT performances anywhere near from his 2006 ones. |

Kreuziger's yet to show the level of Nibali.
He's also younger, so that's to be expected.

I guess with Sanchez getting hit by a car and Valverde getting suspended that makes Soler the leader for this race. Unless Sanchez isn't badly hurt which I hope but usually getting hit by a car isn't just as lucky as a broken finger!

Why does Millar continue to make this race as one of his season goals? Does anybody think that if he is anywhere near the podium that the true contenders won't drop his sun hating arse on the Alpe just like they did on Ventoux last year? |

I may have to miss it because of a family birthday party I'd really rather not be at.
Bah.
