My plan with this program (I wrote about 100 lines of code last night, just basic input stuff) was to have a random variation within a set. (so if a rider has x characteristics, his stat y would go up 2-4 points). Even if I don't finish what I'm writing (or more likely its takes ay to much grunt work for SN or whoever to use) that seems like it would be a good thing to use. |

Interesting debate, however, I'm also against training. Unless we can do something so it only works on young riders with an Average under 70 or so. I dislike the fact that all the captains have been better, it all evens out on the top riders, but makes the gap to the 2nd best riders even bigger, which is not appropiate imo.

yeh I agree with all these arguments against training. It doesn't seem right and imo will ultimately make the game less enjoyable

@mb2612
no, but I'm just going to play around and see what works.
The actual progression stuff will be easy, it'll just be nested if statements. The problem is that the stuff I've written so far is for the inputing of rider stats, and it has to be done by hand. So after I'm done with the progression stuff, I'm going to need to make it read from a data file
that is going to suck |

The ideal thing would be if you got it to work with Excel somehow - but dont feel like you have to rush it, the stat increases for this season at least will still have to be under the old season, since some managers may have planned their rider schedules in order to ensure certain riders gain an XP level.
From 2011 onwards, Ill definately be factoring in category of race to the allocation of race XP, and we'll see about more random stat increases. (You could argue that its better for the increases to be fair and even, since its the gameplay that adds in the randomness)

Bringing this thread back up
If anyone has any suggestions for new riders into the database, guys that who are not currently in there but you think should be, post them here and they will most likely be available in the transfers come the end of the season.

Also the Eritrean would be good, can't remember his name off hand.
I'll try and look through the database for missing riders at some point.

I think Adriano Malori, the former U23 World ITT Champion, should be added to the db.

I think all those young guys that are now in PT teams should be added in the DB. If that's not possible, I suggest you to add Nélson Oliveira, that guy who got the silver medal in the U23 TT WC. That guy has my name, so I will have to have him. |

Niyonshuti is like the Eritrean, added if the nation is - although alternatively I could add them, treat them as from their proper nation, but have them set in game as South African or another african country
Bobridge, T.Kennaugh, and Perrett have already been added (aswell as other Brits Atkins, McNally, Cronshaw, Rudling, Sampson, Batcherlor and Lloyd) - I could look into adding a couple of others you listed Wacko (Snape is already in there)
And Olivera has also already been added

I though of one - Michael Hutchinson?
oh and Matt Clinton - quite young and recent hill climb champion. was in one of the ppdbs for pcm 06
The irish - Sam Bennet (two stage wins at the Ras, promising sprinter)
Dennis Dunworth
Philip Lavery
Sean Downey
Martyn Irvyne

Moreno Hofland. He lives close to where I live, and he's got a Rabo CT contract for next season.
Speciality is said to be hilly classics and stage races, but around here he'd have won a three day flat race with lots of wind as well, if it wasn't for a flat tire.
Won stage races + stages in France (Le Trophée Centre Morbihan) and Spain (Vuelta Ciclista IVAJ), was 4th in the U17 Tour of Flanders and won around 10 other smaller races this season. |

Hutchinson is too old
Not sure about Clinton, seems to only do hill climbs
Of the Irish, ive added Bennet, might look into a couple of the others you listed
And Hofland has already been added
