Love your style, and nice with a 3rd with Paolini. Smile

thanks Smile

I´ve just finished Giro di Sardegna and experienced two unpleasant things. Hard difficulty seems to be too easy in continental races, because my best participated races have daily form +4 or +5 again, again and again. I hope for more competitive T-A. Second one is much worse. Game started to crash after playing stages. Emptying of cache didn´t help, only thing I can try is lowering some details...any other idea?

Competition is pretty weak here. I don´t want to talk about domination, but everything less then 2 stage wins and podium place overall would be big disappointment.

Stage 1

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/24022009-0a.jpg

Opening stage of race has ideal profile for my elite sprinter Luca Paolini. He is predicted together with Hunter and Vermeltfoort between main favourites today, will he fill up all expectations?

Ruggero Marzoli joined BOTD, won 2 mountain sprints and secured KOM jersey for our team!
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/24022009-1.jpg

He fought bravely, but under 5km banner, it was clear that bunch sprint will decide about winner today.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/24022009-2.jpg

Luca Paolini has chosen right train leading by Rabo CT duo Bos, Vermeltfoort. But left train seems to be faster.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/24022009-3.jpg

That´s definitely right, Vona (ISD) closely fights with Siedler (Voralberg), whilst Paolini is far behind at this moment. I´m just wondering, what that people are doing inside barrier Smile
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/24022009-4.jpg

Siedler cracked, Calleragin is getting close to Luca, but it´s too late.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/24022009-5.jpg

Emanuele Vona wins stage 1 ahead of Paolini. Not as good start as we hoped for.

Stage 2

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/25022009-0.jpg

Although this stage is classified as flat, there are decent hill just before end, oferring good chance for puncheurs to attack and steal yellow jersey.

BOTD, there is no ASA rider.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/25022009-1.jpg

They were caught at the foot of last hill.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/25022009-2.jpg

Francesco Failli feels strong today and attacks!
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/25022009-3.jpg

Only Daniele Callegarin is able to respond this marvelous attack.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/25022009-4.jpg

Failli is at the summit with small advantage...
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/25022009-5.jpg

...5km to go and Callegarin can´t still chase him...
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/25022009-6.jpg

...Francesco Failli wins, Callegarin finally caught him on the line.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/25022009-7.jpg

Coen Vermeltfoort leads peloton more than minute later. Callegarin picks over yellow jersey from Vona!

Stage 3

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/26022009-0.jpg

Hilly one, maybe we could call it "queen stage". I must think how to put off Callegarin from yellow jersey. This stage is the most suitable for attacks, because remaining stages are mostly flat.

Today it´s Massimo Codol, who joins BOTD, his main goal is try to defend Failli´s KOM jersey or gain him for himself if possible.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/26022009-1.jpg

Andrea Moletta attacks just before last summit, only Codol can follow.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/26022009-2.jpg

20km to go, Moletta and Codol continue in their effort, rest of escapees are lost between leading duo and main bunch, who is 3'20 back.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/26022009-3.jpg

Coen Vermeltfoort attacks, Bole, Vona, Sinkewitz and of course Paolini with Failli followed by Callegarin respond!
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/26022009-4.jpg

Strong chasing group has formed including remaining early breakaway riders, only Moletta and Codol are still ahead.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/26022009-5.jpg

5km to go, Codol can´t follow Moletta anymore!
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/26022009-6.jpg

Failli needs bonus seconds to achieve yellow jersey, so tactics is clear, Paolini as best sprinter in group leads him.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/26022009-7.jpg

Great performance by Moletta, he fully deserves win today!
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/26022009-8.jpg

Codol is still second, but Paolini and Failli are much faster...
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/26022009-9.jpg

...and they both go past him on line! Failli achieved 4 bonus seconds for 3rd place today and is new overall leader!!!

Stage 4 and 5 were very similar to each other. Same winner and unfortunately crash right after finish (before podium screens). Luckily I made most important picture(-s) during racing.

Stage 4

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/27022009-0.jpg

We had whole stage under our control, giving no chance to breakaway riders to succeed. Luca Paolini took win in bunch sprint ahead of Failli, who not only maintained but increased his overall lead.

Ruggero Marzoli won both mountain sprints and gained KOM jersey!

Giro di Sardegna is now over, it was really successful tour for ASA, as we won all jerseys except young one. Due to our great performance during whole months, we received WC for T-A and are hoping that another WC for MSR is on the way. Paolini is 2nd in Continental Tour rankings, only Candido Barbosa gained more points so far. ASA is actually best team, leading by 7 points ahead of Palmeiras Resort. But season is still about start, we can´t expect we could maintain our positions whole year and promote to Pro Tour.

March Calendar:

1/3 GP di Lugano
4/3 Giro del Friuli
7/3 Eroica
7/3 Trofeo Zssdi
11-17/3 Tirreno - Adriatico
21/3 Milano - Sanremo (still pending)
23-28/3 Settimana Coppi e Bartali

We are hoping for some victories during March as Paolini is in good shape. Eroica seems to be an ideal target. Francesco Masciarelli opens his season too, his main goal (same as Failli´s one) will be to fight for KOM jersey on T-A, which is one of our season goals. TOP 5 in MSR is another one, Luca Paolini will try to make impossible, of course if we receive WC Smile

Side question, have you thought about next years team?

there are two options:

1) to play season 2010 with PCM daily 2010 DB - advantages: new teams in game, actual team lists; disadvantages: no chance to build my team and play another season with almost same squad

2) continue with PCM daily 2009 DB - advantages and disadvantages are reversed Grin

if I will decide to play with 2009 DB (maybe someone could help to add all necessary files to have Team Sky and Radioshack in game??), of course I´ll target on Italian riders and races

Wow, much stronger field I was hoping for! Cunego, Kolobnev, Ivanov, Nocentini and many others. Looks like real racing is starting here...I will set decent goal, let´s say TOP10 would be fine.

I can´t help myself, but I had to sing "It´s rainy day" during whole race...and couldn´t remember the band or singer, who made this old hit. Luckily this rain is only light Smile

Codol is most active member of BOTD, including 9 riders...e.g. Cardenas, Stubbe, Frohlinger,Weening or Tamayo.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/1032009-1.jpg

Their advantage over the bunch was more than 8 minutes with 100km to go...but Euskaltel, Katusha and especially Lampre started to push...
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/1032009-2.jpg

..and gap decreased down to 2 minutes with 50km to go.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/1032009-3.jpg

Pietropoli, Horner, Zabriskie and Florencio attacked peloton and join leading group.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/1032009-4.jpg

18km to go and BOTD is over...
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/1032009-5.jpg

Soler attacks in penultimate hill and is followed by Nocentini, Carrara, Mazzanti, Paolini, Failli and again Codol!
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/1032009-6.jpg

Foot of the last hill, group is formed...but Ivanov, Roche and Garate are getting closer, while Lampre is pushing hard in peloton. Luckily it´s too late for them, they already missed decisive moment!
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/1032009-7.jpg

Carrara bridges small gap after last summit!
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/1032009-8.jpg

3km to go...Failli chases him down...rest of group is still in game as well.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/1032009-9.jpg

2km to go, Paolini moves forward! (NO TRICKY DOWNHILL ATTACK!!!)
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/1032009-9a.jpg

Oh dear, what a finish! Paolini or Carrara?
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/1032009-9b.jpg

Unfortunately it´s Carrara, Paolini is 2nd, Failli 3rd...great race!!!

This could be a great battle between Paolini and Vacansoleil sprinters Cooke, Carrara or Westra. Or will someone else surprise?

ghostfreak
watch out for D.Pietropolli he's almost equal to L.Paolini.
And he's a pain in the rear in my career.
