that is a hell of a lot of money
the most you get in the Premiership is around £150,000 ($300,000) a week, but that is still way too much money

and that's for a very simple reason:
that's not Beckham's salary. that's his salary (a small portion of that fee) plus advertising and endorsements. Adidas, etc actually pay him to play in the US.

Yep - he earns half that in actual salary, the rest is through shirt sales, endorsements, which is all fairly conditional, and may not equal the half million mark

MLS/ Galaxy pay him roughly 9 Million U.S a year, for 5 years. The reason the 250 million dollar figure(ads and endorsements) was included was to generate buzz about him, witch worked, but also has backfired when other international players are looking for much more than before.

Belletti Signs for Chelsea
FC Barcelona and Chelsea FC have agreed terms for Juliano Belletti. Barça will receive €5.5M Euros for the Brazilian defender.
Juliano Belletti, 31, sees his stint at FC Barcelona come to an end following three successful years. The defender will begin a new era among the London based outfit following his transfer.
Belletti, who had a contract with Barça until June of 2009, begins life in the premiership after having rejected important offers coming from Turkey. After recently travelling to London, the Brazilian has put pen to paper for the next three years.
Julian Haus Belletti has his place in the FC Barcelona history books firmly established as the “Hero of Paris” following his Champions League final winning goal against Arsenal in 2006. He also walks away with two Liga titles and two Spanish Supercup titles to his name.
just for 100% confirmation, straight from the horses mouth (yes i mean Rijkaard)
off the Barça website

Ronaldinho to obtain dual nationality on Monday
Ronaldinho will complete the formalities for Spanish nationality on Monday, ending a legal process that began in 2005.
This step also means that Ronaldinho will no longer count as one of the three permitted non-EU players. Samuel Eto'o (Cameroon), Touré Yaya (Ivory Coast) and Giovanni dos Santos (Mexico) are all non-EU players though the latter is due to receive dual nationality very soon.

Everton's signing of Manuel Fernandes is botched because in england no two entities can have a percentage of the rights to the player (Everton have 50% and a trust fund the other 50%)
laughable law, really (guys over at the football forum I frequent are literally laughing at the english because of this).
Everton fans are of course extremely pissed. Tottenham, Newcastle and Middlesbrough fans are laughing at them, since Fernandes rejected all those clubs to sign for Everton.
as such, Valencia has finally found it's center midfielder it seems. he'll be presented tomorrow.

who are Steaua playing again?
by the way, we've played 2 games in the league: two of the toughest games of the season, and we're top of the league B) (I hardly ever use this smilley, so you can see how special it is )

they have been saying for the past few months that the silly spending has ended and they proved that by not buy Alves for 26million but now they are spending 50mil on 1 player

West Ham have confirmed they have made an approach to Internazionale for Adriano.
Inter confirmed last weekend they were willing to loan out the Brazilian striker so that he can regain some form and fitness after dropping down the pecking order at Giuseppe Meazza.

on watching FC Kobenhavn - Benfica I have but two comments to make:
1. the pitch looks like they were digging for treasure or planting potatoes or somesuch. Awful Awful Awful.
the commentator explained it away saying the Rolling Stones had a concert there recently.
did Keith Richards smoke all the grass or something? there's really no other explanation for such a horrible pitch
2. whoever is responsible for the current format of qualifying for the Champions League should be taken around the corner and shot.
there is no excuse for the fact that one of these very poor teams is actually going to qualify and take part...
