All hail the brilliant sprinter Mauricio Ardila, 15th in today's sprint
Proves how lousy the sprinters' field is.
Yeah, everyone's injured

I'm trying to find you a top-view replay. That camera angle from the front is horrible, doesn't really show you much of what happened

Did you see the top helicopter view? In the video above it looks close....but it wasn't. at all. Petacchi went with 300m to go, then at 100m to go Cavendish jumped and didn't even get to the halfway point of Petacchi's back wheel.

Indeed it was perfect for Cavendish..good lead out..then Petacchi launched..he follows..but not even close to pass him...strange
I personally thought the lead out was quite weak for cavendish today.
Not to take anything away from Petacchi's win because it was good.
Well, on the other hand, it was a low-speed sprint, which is perfect for Cavendish and very bad for Petacchi.
We'll know more tomorrow, I guess.

Indeed..Situation is more relax for Petacchi (italian sprinter in Giro is something different.. ).
Btw. we have 2 stages behind..this Giro will be great.

Lets just say that the Giro is the race Petacchi has as main priority in the season, and in the best form he will gets this year, while Cavendish is only in normal good form.

A sprinter's speed can be hampered by injuries, but never by form. For a sprinter, "form" means how well they can last the distance.
It's perfectly normal for any guy, not necessarily a sprinter, to be dead, about to be dropped, and suddenly, oh look, there's the finish, he sprints and wins.
It's the reason why Di Luca is most likely to win on Tuesday: the climb isn't likely to be hard enough to drop him and he can outsprint all the other climbers no matter how dead he is.
Cavendish's form doesn't have much at all to do with his sprint.
