This is a bit late, but what a great story, even better than your Predictor - Lotto story, not taking any thing away from that one though. Great job Guido and good luck winning La Vuelta with Basso. He has some tough competition though, the time trial on stage 5 should provide us with the first answers regarding the form of the top contenders.

Stage 4
Another chanche for Benna..to take stage win. Tomorrow we take long TT..and will find out how favorites are going at the moment..
Final hill before sprint..like yesterday team veteran Noe looking after Bennati..starnge that this Vuelta will be last GT ever for Noe..He will retire after october..
Bennati and Freire follows again Euskaltel train..they have so far played in same tactic..they dont like built theyr own train..they looking oportunity..and fast train to use.
Close again..Bennati has left de Larrea behind..all out ..Freire follows..
Bennati has caught Evans (Evans took tour leader jersey at team mate yestreday)..What is Evans trying to do..this is dangerous give him leader jersey..he will atack on every stage after stage win has we have seen in TdF..
..and Bennati takes a lead..Freire follows..when he passes?..Cancellara closing a gap..he has caught Freire backwheel..
..and Bennati keeps the lead..this is first stage win for Benna..he is surprised that Freire did not managed to pass him..(intresting fact that Bennati won the same stage in 2008 Vuelta). This is great battle between Benna and Freire.
Cant wait TT..this should be intresting..it always has told me..who is in shape. If you cant TT then you also will have problems in mountains.

This Vuelta has the makings of a real classic Tour winner Evans vs Giro winner Basso vs Contador.
Great win for Benna, can he hold off Freire I fancy he will be tougher than Boonan if he can stay out of accidents (i find he crashes one in two tours he races in).
Good luck in the TT, me thinks Evans will be strong there. |

Stage 5
ITT Ciudad Real.
I have been waiting this stage.. Good do know how favorites are doing...when Pyrenees are looming.
Bodrogi will set first fast time to beat..at the end of the day..38. (+3'02)..
Wiggins is next man..who will also beat Bodrogi 7th. (+1'11)..great time..
Liquigas time..Quinziato..17. (+1'47)..not bad..
Kreuziger..starting real fast..at the end of the day. He's 1st checkpoint time is still the best..at the end..19. (+1'49)
..no problem..he is getting to top shape just before Pyrenees ..8th. (+1'15)..now he should wait 4 main rivals..
Fuji leader Cobo 29. (+2'35)
Devolder..18. (+1'48)..he has lost he's Eneco mojo..
Rogers..5th. (+1'00)..looks that when I sayd in presentation that Rogers is not team nr. 1 but he is man from Columbia wich we should afraid..he is in form.
Lövkvist..15. (+1'43)
Rival nr. 1 Sastre...29. (+2'29)..he lost 1'14 to Basso..
Gusev 10. (+1'17)
Larsson ..fastest man today..he has taking over Cancellara role in Saxo Bank..
Caisse leader Pereiro..17. (+1'47)..this is great time..
Cancellara..like Devolder he also has lost he's form and looks tired..12. (+1'29)..
Rival nr. 2 Menchov..27. (+2'27)..probably this is not fast enough for Menchov ..he will strike again at the third week?..he lost 1'12 to Basso and is just 2 sec. faster then Sastre..
Bruseghin..22. (+1'52)..
Gerdemann an he's amazing TT stage..4th. (+ 44 sec.)
Tuft..3rd. (+37 sec.)
Klöden..wow..this guy is in shape..I can now imagine the speed what Astana is capable at the mountains..2nd. (+ 36 sec.)
Rival nr. 3 Contador...13. (+1'36)...20 sec. slower then Basso..well he is man to beat..
Sanchez..30. (+2'36)..
..and 4th. rival tour leader Evans 12. (+1'30)..not has fast that he expected..Evans is 6. sec. faster then Contador and 15 sec. slower then Basso..Situation before Pyrenees is real exiting.
Larsson todays stage winner takes also Golden jersey..

to late for that..and I am aware that my grammar is not looking good..
(you should see my russian grammar that is even worse)..
I belive younger estonian computer generation will speak and write much better english (but they never will understand russian..finnish..german). Youth english is already that agressive ..it has became as threat for estonian culture and language |

Stage 7
Barbastro - Andorra
Longest stage in Vuelta..and it's raining..this is gonna be long day.
There were four categorized climbs along the way, one each in the first, second, and third categories with a special category climb at the finish in Andorra.
Mosquera is off..there is 173km. to go..he is trying to repeat Ballan 2008 solo ride ..this was also in terrible weather condition..
130 km. to Kiryenka , Anton and Brjakovic getting away from main group..
..Bennati crashes in descent..he was already droped from peloton..and was all alone. He is ok..to continue..good ..because he still want that points jersey..
70km. to go..Contador and Sastre atack..why so early?..Basso will need to kep he's head cool..and wait..
1km. later..Menchov panic..he is atacking after Contador and Sastre
Conatdor and Sastre has noticed that peloton wont let them go that easy and they are back..But Menchov continues pushing with Efimnkin and Cobo..this is 50-50 chanche..total success or biggest mistake..and there can he say goodbye to Vuelta podium.
Final climb has started Mosquera still at the front alone..Menchov is already caught
15km. to go..and Mosquera solo is over..he had today 160km. all alone ride..
12km. to go..Conatdor ..
Sanchez, Gerdemann and Sastre counters..
...Evans, Cobo, Basso and Menchov
8,5 km to go..Basso has taken race lead..Contador and Sanchez follows..Evans will need to work hard to get back there..
Evans group..Evans , Astraloza,Gerdemann, Sastre, Cobo and Menchov...
Evans is back with Sastre and Cobo..
Contador do not like this situation..
..and ofcorse they counter Sanchez, Evans and Basso..
..and Sastre passes Contador..Evans, Basso and Sanchez have a small advantage when we have 1km. to go..
..and sprint..
Sanchez taking stage win.this is important one...and well deserved..
Contador and Sastre coming 28 sec. later...well Alberto must be dissapointed man today..he started all atack's but still at the end of they he had lost 30 sec. in GC
Tour leader Larsson coming 2'56 later..Evans is back in yellow..Basso is just 5 sec. behind.
After first mountain stage this clear now..this wont be easy walk for anyone to take Vuleta win..and we still have 5 candidates..or should have one more Samuel Sanchez..when top form Basso was looking tyred at the final climb..then Sami followed..counters and won the stage..amazing ride.
Evans looks strong..he was riding all alone down that gap between Contador- Sanchez - Basso group..then Contador atack..but Evans had still energy to counter..
and Kreuziger is inside top 20..

Great stages in the Pyrenees there.
How many other decisive stages are there on the menu? Is it the same as last years Vuelta with the dreaded Alto? |

Stage 9
Vielha e Mijaran > Sabiñánigo
we hope to get Bennati over Puerto de Serrablo.and get few sprint points..
But no way..Caisse and Astana at the front working hard..Bennati is cracked..
When sprinters are out of the game..different race has started..when climber start to atack against each other in the flat..at first Devolder and Pereiro..
Pereiro was not just after climber points..he is going for solo..
Gerdemann and Efimkin atack..
Windy day..favorites need to be careful do not make any mistakes there with bad positioning..
Contador atack..18 km. to go..
Evans and Basso counters...
Pereiro still leading..Evans with Basso follows.. Evans realy trying to drop Basso..
wow..Sastre has come from now where..Monfort atack..Basso saw oportunity..this is chanche to get away from Evans..11 sec. between them is not secure lead..
Just before sprint..Basso launched another atack ..this is not about stage win..this is about time..
..stage win (first one for Basso ..second for Liquigas)..this was weird stage for climber like Basso to win..GC table looks a little better now..
Sanchez taking point jersey lead..he had KOM jersey already
