In an interview with AS today, Alberto Contador says that if Armstrong joins Astana, he will leave the team. He also says that he's disappointed by Leipheimer, because he, according to Contador, tried to win the Vuelta: "Had the TT been 20 km longer, I don't know what would have happened".
Speaking of Armstrong, Patrick Lefevre has said that he's interested. We might get to know more tomorrow when Armstrong is hosting a press conference in New York.

In addition to what I said above, Daniel Akhmetov, some guy from Astana, has said that "with Armstrong, the team will double up its strength" and that "he's perfect for our team". |

In the article, it was said that he was "Minister of Defence" .. of the team. I didn't make sense at all, so I just skipped it |

Daniel Akhmetov is the president of cycling and the minister of defence in Kazachstan. (Typo in here, somewhere. I'm 90% sure about it) |

Tomorrow Armstrong will reveal Astan...I mean the team, whichever team it may be....
As for the Contador statements about Leipheimer, I'm reserving comment until I see them somewhere else than velonews.

Isso, it's also on Danish websites. The comments origin from an interview in AS. You can read it here: https://www.as.com...icic_1/Tes

Às is.....well, let's see. If Contadope denies it, I'll believe him

Just little out of topic. If talks come to circle..that some speculation for transfers..etc..etc. then come response..no way...we just thinking. Strange thing is that 80% of kind of rumors is also became fact. |

I think Astana will let levi lead in giro or vuelta next yr let him have his big win. I wouldn't beleive anything unless it come out of there mouth on tv. I cant see Contador leaving astana even when armstrong signs for 2 reasons.
1. He must believe he is better than anyone else out there
2. There are no teams he will goto and lead that will be strong enough for him to beat riders from astana |

I don't think Contador can deny the experience of The astana team, they have a great structure. And a DS that has won 8 tours. At the end of the day thats got to count for something. Why would you leave a team with that much experience... |

Why? Because you want to win the Tour instead of supporting Armstrong... |

I dont think Contador will be supporting Armstrong i think he will still be there leader and the team will work for both of them and allow them to fight it out between themselfs and we ent got a clue how strong Lance will be but as I said before he wouldn't come back if he didnt think he could still win. |
