Yup, Clement was good in every tt this season except the flat one in Winsum. The WC TT is hillier I believe. 4 more riders to be announced for the RR still (Hoogerland, Westra, Dumoulin and De Kort perhaps?)

Well, I would rather take Terpstra to the RR and not to the ITT than the opposite.
I'm not sure who rides the Vuelta and who don't etc. so it's hard to say which others should be selected.

Agreed. Terpstra is a decent TTist but Netherlands has much better ones they can send.
Interesting experiment, though, of Netherlands. Creating the team already and let them train together etc. |

Well, Kelderman for World Champion 2013, then?
But yeah, hope the experiment turns out well. It seems logical that training together could have a benifit

Is this where I insert a Carlsberg style advert joke about if Sky did World Championships this is, or a more extreme version, is how they would do it?
Take Sky's Tour techniques of having the team constantly race and train together and translate them to a National Team level.

I should probably just edit my prior post but this news could be worth bumping the thread over.
Apparently the FFC are looking to establish their own version of the "Team Sky" formula. Wonder how the other French teams are feeling about this news should the FFC manage to get this idea off the ground with the support of Sportfive. Whether it will work is another question too.

What I understood of it a couple of months ago - it might have changed in between - was that it was only aimed at the Mickey Mouse discipline of cycling, where riders were struggling to find properly organised teams, etc.
With 2 teams in WT, 2 or 3 former WT teams and a handful of other decent pro conti teams, I don't really understand the need of an even "stronger" team above.
I'd say send a French national team to off shore events if the usual teams can't be bothered, but that's it. |

It seems that Gerald Ciolek might ride the Volta a Portugal this August... Nothing confirmed yet. Which would be big news having the MSR winner racing here. |

Oleg Tinkov says he has pretty much agreed a new sponsorship deal and that Saxo Bank might continue as well. Apparently he will announce something when the Tour gets to Paris.
Meanwhile some speculate that he might be in the process of buying out Bjarne Riis...

I hope for him being able to grab 1-2 stage wins in those races.
Tour of Austria right now and Portugal later. |

There are no great sprinters in Portugal, he'd win several.
Van Rensburg won last year ffs

Important change regarding promotion/relegation!
18th sporting value, you make it, 19th, you don't.

There used to be a time when they had other criteria such as ethic and financial health. To hell with those I assume ? |

This is actually a good question.
For places 16 to 20, these criteria were used to determine who gets the spots.
It's not specifically mentioned in the changes, but if a team fails the sporting criterion, I doubt ethics and finances will make up for it.

Katushagate ring a bell? They failed on ethics until Katusha appealed remember, wasn't even that long ago.

Over on the CN forum one of Boardman's former track teammates, Daryl Webster, is excited that the 1998 EPO test positives are being revealed.
Apparently because he's convinced "the Boardman fairy tale is finally coming down"
We'll soon see if Webster's full of hot air
