Cholet – Cholet – 236.2km

THE RACE

i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/sutty68/STORY%20SYMBOLS/TOGO-100KM.jpg

Five riders have been away since the white flag was dropped to officially start the race, they are Georges/AG2R La Mondiale, Ricci Bitti/Farnese Vini, Chavez/Colombia Coldeportes, Bihel/Team Differdange and Sprick/Argos Shimano. There biggest advantage peaked at 7m 31s but is now slowly coming down as the bunch start to liven up

i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/sutty68/017-CHOLET-PAYS%20DE%20LOIRE/017-PIC4_zps99f7824d.jpg

i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/sutty68/STORY%20SYMBOLS/TOGO-80KM.jpg

Sprick is doing long turns on the front in an effort to keep the pace high

i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/sutty68/017-CHOLET-PAYS%20DE%20LOIRE/017-PIC5_zps3de447e9.jpg

i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/sutty68/STORY%20SYMBOLS/TOGO-60KM.jpg

The peleton has definitely upped the pace as the single file has been formed

i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/sutty68/017-CHOLET-PAYS%20DE%20LOIRE/017-PIC6_zpscb9286dc.jpg

i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/sutty68/STORY%20SYMBOLS/TOGO-40KM.jpg

The lead has now dropped below three minutes

i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/sutty68/017-CHOLET-PAYS%20DE%20LOIRE/017-PIC7_zpsab262652.jpg

i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/sutty68/STORY%20SYMBOLS/TOGO-20KM.jpg

The harmony in the break has just gone out of the window as attack after attack has just ripped it apart. Chavez/Colombia Coldeportes closely followed by Georges/AG2R La Mondiale and Sprick/Argos Shimano are the only three that remains from the break of the day

i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/sutty68/017-CHOLET-PAYS%20DE%20LOIRE/017-PIC8_zpsf286250e.jpg

i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/sutty68/STORY%20SYMBOLS/TOGO-10KM.jpg

With the breakaways safely back in the peleton its time for the attacks to start and first to have a go is Ghyselinck of Cofidis

i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/sutty68/017-CHOLET-PAYS%20DE%20LOIRE/017-PIC9_zpsed292461.jpg

It looks like we are going to be treated to a mass bunch sprint as the rain clouds finally open after being threatening all day

Well we have to put todays race down as one to forget, we never achieved anything other than getting miles in the legs and to make matters worse William Dugan crashed in the middle of the peleton halfway through the race and was taken to hospital where he was diagniosed with a fractured skull and will be out until at least the end of May

Hell Yeah, I was not expecting that result today, but it makes it that even more better just watching your team grab a 1-2 in Italy with two Italian riders, i am totally over the moon

Ian Butler
Ooooow, TT1 domination! Brilliant Smile

Two days ago I saw a piece on tv about 2 Belgian riders with Type 1 Diabetes and they joined some new American team that also only has riders of team type 1. You know what team this is? Or is this TT1 under a different name?

sutty68
Ian Butler - Its Team Novo Nordisk which used to be Team Type 1, only now there entire squad is Type 1 diabetics only.
Kevin De Maesmaeker and Thomas Raeymaekers are the two Belgian riders on the team Wink

BikeRoel
Nice race Sutty68, but how did you get the gap to the pack? Did you attack?

Atlantius
Well done!

Thats what I call winning in style Grin
Winners never quit, quitters never win.

It's difficult not to be happy when you're surrounded by Belgians. - Mark Cavendish

sutty68
BikeRoel - No, they were the first two riders of my sprint train and they just rode away Wink

Atlantius - Thanks Wink

bigggassi - The team certainly needed that morale boost Wink
