francopell: At least he already won TDU
sutty68: Whatever it is, let's hope it's over by the Ardennes Classics!
Wild Dog: I hope it's not the Rainbow Jersey curse.
ste_18: Indeed. But at least it gave someone else the chance to win something sometime
TimoCycling: He sure is
JuanMotr: He'll come back |

Tirreno - Adriatico 2014 - Finished
This was a strange thing to witness:
In the end, Roberto finished 50th in the General Classification. Roberto gave an interview after the final stage, but we weren't able to find it. We can only guess, but we think it was an illness or something. Because, in the end, we know his career would not suffer much from this, he would come back and strike everyone dead in the following years.
Now it was time for him to leave this behind him and look to the future:
In our next chapter, we will discuss the Amstel Gold Race 2014. |

Amstel Gold Race 2014
In 2013, Gilbert had impressively outsprinted Roberto for the win. Roberto didn't give a good impression in Tirreno, so Gilbert was the absolute favorite today.
Sky worked hard all day, placing a lot of trust in the 24-year old Johny Piqué.
40km from the finish, the attacks started.
Contador really pushed it, and Roberto followed, eager to shake Gilbert. He knew he could take anyone to the finish, anyone but Gilbert.
But it all came together, and a small group including Gilbert would sprint for the win. Roberto had used a lot of energy attacking, did he have enough to finish it?
But once again, Gilbert was unstoppable. Roberto stranded on the second place for the second year in a row.
Result

Roberto:
I'm very disappointed. I really thought I could win today. (...) I will give it 110% in the Flèche Wallonne, but Gilbert is just so damn strong.
If he would beat Gilbert in the Flèche Wallonne, you'll find out in the next chapter! |

Unlucky Roberto this time, but I'm sure he'll bounce back to the winning "line". |

I bet he'll win Liège, why? Because it is the biggest. Would be good if he won Fleche too though.
