Pcm, Creative and Paradox are pretty much the only games I have played in the last five years.
Rome Total War is such a classic. So much fun maurading over Europe with the Britons or steamrolling troops with the elephants of Carthage or alternatively setting a wall of spears with the Greeks.

I prefer it this way tbh. Less distracting.

I have done some researching as these games looked great!
There are quite a few Total War games like Napoleon, Rome, Empire and Shogun, and the differences are time period and stuff?
So Rome I can still conquer the whole world? f.e.

The map will be relevant to the time period and civilizations included
This was the map for Rome:TW in 2005 (a lot of mods expanded it, mostly to India or further south to a little more of Africa)

So do you have a recommendation?
I have been thinking Empire Total War looks good, because I think you can expand to most parts of the world.
But Napoleon or Rome look good as well!
I think I'll probably go for Empire.

Rome and Medieval I definitely like most, I guess the history is very interesting for me as European and especially the climatic sword-fighting and no guns ( well in later part of Medieval there are some ). Empire was buggy but now improved, Napoleon is very similar too it but improved from Empire imo.
Shogun 2 is the best of series in terms of AI, Graphics etc. but I don't like the climate of it at all unfortunately.
Rome is the best and funniest TW I played followed by Medieval and Napoleon. I'd guess it would be best to try both Rome and Napoleon for you and compare as both games are different ( and Rome is quite cheap ).
I'd overall choose between Rome and Napoleon ( Empire if you want bigger map, however Napoelon is improvement of that game ) .

Yeah, I'm not that all interested in Shogun either.
I think I will download one of them, and if I like it, I'll buy one.
I'm leaning towards Rome now since its a much smaller size than Empire, and probably cheaper if I end up wanting it
Edit: Getting Empire! Reviews were best, and you can be Pirates.

Nice you will be getting it, these games rock! Also they have nice tutorial to teach you the basics of the field tactics, as one can be pretty surprised with depth of the battles (i was when playing it for the first time).
Rome is a bit easier in my eyes, without fire weapons and artillery...

Rome Total War is best Total War. Empire is good, but it has Rome as a benchmark. Empire has a much improved foreign relations function and graphics, but Rome just had the best fights.
I liked roaming around the map picking up the various mercenary units.
My first was Medieval I, II wasn't as good as Rome, but still decent, and Napoleon was too limited. The problem with Napoleon and Empire for me was the sieges. Just not as cool as a proper siege.
Shogun 2 is WAY too limited.

Your euphoria infected me and spontaneously, I bought Rome and what seems to be an expansion pack (Barbarian Invasion) for 9,90€ on ebay. Hadn't had a nice strategic game in years but I loved playing Empire Earth back in the days I hope the game can keep your promises but after all, with 10 bucks, you can't go wrong.
Oh, and by the way, new profile pic - what do you think?

I liked Rome the most, although I never played Shogun, but compared to the others. Its always been a lot of fun, and I'd love to try the new one next year, but most certainly it won't work on my computer So its either a new one or no Rome 2 for me
@ cunego: I never was much of a harry potter fan, but she'll always be kind of a little girl for me + she really looks quite young in my opinion although she 's only three years younger than me so back to keira it is if you'd ask me |
