Stage 12
Today's stage ends in a steep climb up Angliru that will have many riders crying out in pain. I'm one of the favorites along with Seeldraeyers who has been pretty strong and Capecchi who has disappointed everyone.
They were caught before the final climb. At the bottom of the climb the favorites began attacking. Hesjedal and I attacked with them.
The group peaked at around 20 riders and instead of making Hesjedal do all the work I cam to the front and put the hammer down.
On the steepest part of the climb I let other riders do all the work and control the leaders. Unfortunately for me the yellow jersey was still hanging on. We all came to the finish line together and I out sprinted everyone taking a big victory for Garmin.
After helping Hesjedal win yesterday, he was excited that I got my chance. He lost over a minute despite being so close.
The yellow jersey finished 2 minutes back, enough to hold on to the jersey. Capecchi continues to disappoint, and loses 6 more minutes.

In other news Bos has added to his victories in another race. He leads the CT tour and is gonna take Rabobank CT to the Pro Tour. It will be interesting racing with Rabobank and Rabobank CT.

You better watch out for the Belgians Monfort and Seeldraeyers
And I have to support Gerdemann too, he's one of the leaders in my current team. And Seeldraeyers is one the best helpers ^^ |

Good results. I think you are going to win. There isn't a lot of competition in the Vuelta this year. |

Stage 13
Today was a hilly stage that ended in a few small climbs. Early in the stage there was a huge breakaway group of around 10. They built up a big gap of around 8 minutes before they were reeled in.
Some of the favorites began to attack including Gerdemann and Capecchi so I had to follow.
Eventually Capecchi was dropped and Arroyo joined in his place making a 3 rider leading group. Hesjedal was about a minute behind. We made it to the finish all together and I let Gerdemann lead me out but decided to not sprint and let him take the win.
I wanted to keep the yellow jersey on Tjallingii so that Rabobank would be forced to control the peloton during the flat stages. I still trail Tjallingii by around a minute and a half.

Stage 14
1 of the 2 more flat stages before we head into the Mountains again. The wind was high meaning there would be a lot of splits and we had to be smart. A break got away but they would only make it until there were 30 kilometers to go.
One rider who was sent off the back, because of the split was Tjallingii. He lost time but it wasn't enough to lose the jersey.
Up front Française des Jeux was still relaying with a kilometer to go and because of this they took a 1-2-3 finish.

Stage 15
Another stage and another breakaway. It didn't make it too far because of many different teams chasing them back.
The sprint finish was very weird. Boom led Tjallingii the whole way to the finish. I tried to hold his wheel and then sprint away but I couldn't keep up and took 3rd.

Stage 16
Today's stage is classified as hilly but in reality it is mostly flat. 3 riders thought they could take another win for the breakaway.
Thanks to Caisse and Rabobank the break was caught before the finish.
The surprising thing was that there were no attacks from the favorites. The finish came down to an uphill sprint and Gerdemann took the win ahead of Moreno and Arroyo.
Tomorrow we head to the real mountains where I have a chance to take the yellow jersey.

Stage 17
Today is a tough stage that only the pure climbers have a chance to win. I was under the protection of Trent Lowe for most of the race. No one felt any urgency going up the first 2 climbs. There was a group of 3 who had broken away and got a gap of about 4 minutes.
One of the riders was Maxime Monfort. When all the other favorites attacked, I followed. The leading group was around 15 riders an up front Monfort was all alone with a 2 minute lead. So I came to the front, and picked up the pace. I caught Monfort and reduced the leading group to 5 riders. At the finish Arroyo sprinted ahead, and no one else could follow as he took a stage win and 25 seconds on everyone else.
I finished 3rd, just behind Gerdemann, securing my yellow jersey for at least one day.
