Nah, the hilly stages will make the difference.
Pye is good uphill, but not as good as Knol
@Fran: You're gonna regret that you didn't put Henkjan Knol as a favorite

Be careful with the breakaway i think that if a good custom rider win a stage from it making a bit of difference can be the winner |

Unfortunately I was ill last night (froze going trick-or-treating) and am still not that good so I'll try and do the race and results today at noon. No promises though. |

I saw only 1 trick-or-treater last night, when I was driving someone home. Not really a big thing in Belgium. I thought it might be fun to hit them with a car, it being Halloween and so. I burried them in my yard, a very shallow grave...
Anyway, hope to see the result soon |

Stage 1
Hanzen, Pye, Greipel, Kittel and Sagan were the top favourites for victory on the opening stage. Garmin were expected to easily take the stage due to good pre-season lead-out train preparations. Riders like Louis Remington or Henkjan Knol may throw up a few upsets however, especially with the peloton smaller than normal, 154 strong.
Thanks to the work of Argos Shimano and their new young rider, Stefano Scalvini a breakaway is yet to be formed. We are now 10km in.
Scalvini, already showing his worth.
Movistar stagiare Dag Jensen attempted to breakaway then. The attack stuck but Argos-Shimano were still putting the effort in on the front.
After several attempts, Jensen later found himself in an escape group with Roux and Deleplace.
Mike Pye and Adrian Hanzen positioned themselves at the front of the peloton with Scalvini still working on the front.
The two lead sprinters for Garmin at the front of the peloton.
With 100km to go the break had five minutes on the peloton. Could they make it? Two favourites, Len Lye and Rudy Verboven, were both well protected near the front of the pack.
5 minutes, 75km. With Scalvini and his team working on the front it seemed unlikely. The riders had just passed the first sprint, with Dag Jensen stealing maximum points. For the mountain sprint it was Roux who won.
Scalvini has been on the front all day now for his leader, Marcel Kittel.
For the final intermediate sprint, Jensen's poor positioning costed him the maximal points, surrendering it to Roux. However, Jensen has a very good chance of the points jersey for tomorrow.
20km and a minute and a half gap for the breakaway. They can do it but it's slowly slipping away from them.
The breakaway has surrendered after a large pull from Argos' workhorse, Stefano Scalvini.
Break - Caught
Two lead out trains, Lotto vs Garmin whilst Remington, Boonen and the rest frantically try and get on the back wheel of one of them. Mike Pye is still a while back right now. What has happened to him?
Haussler-Bakker-Farrar-Hanzen vs. Reynes-Henderson-Roelandts with Greipel fighting to get onto their wheels. Dumoulin is caught in between.
Len Lye on Greipel's wheel, Argos train assembled. Verboven held up, Remington on Hanzen's wheel with Boonen on his. Pye is following Kittel.
Chaos. Kittel is yet to sprint holding up Pye. Sagan has gone from a distance whilst Remington vs. Boonen vs. Hanzen is the biggest duel. Has Hanzen left it too late?
Easy as you like! Hanzen powers past Boonen to take the stage. Len Lye is going head to head with Sagan and Greipel for a top five finish whilst Jablecnik goes against Pye for a top ten finish.
Jensen didn't have the strength to finish in the peloton today.

What a big work for Marcel! Pratically I've caught the breakaway alone! But he is only 7th

@Daggen I think you'll be wearing it tomorrow with Roux in the mountain's jersey.
@ste_18 I think you single handedly ruined Daggen's chances of staying away Kittle didn't have it today unfortunately
@Ian Butler He had great positioning Sat on Greipel's wheel which is how he could outsprint Sagan (who went from really far out and lost his energy.)
@Jakstar22 Your lead-out train was superb, they gave Boonen and Remington those podium spots
