I'm curious what Sky's time would've been if Sutton hadn't had that mechanical.
It's very unlikely they would've won, but there's always the outside chance.

Vino is so strong..I am worried..that he can also climb then
I take comfort in his last years performances, he was good in tt but fortunatelly weak in mountains. Hope he hasn't improved, nothing much against him, he did his time but I don't want him getting a GT podium.

tomorrow the stage ends 500 mts from my house, and passes just in front of it at -25km. unfortunately i'll be at work 100km away...
it could have been much more interesting if the have done the final ring in the opposite direction. good chance for long distance breakaway but if the team of the sprinters keep the race tight the final 8-9 kilimeters are completely flat and very fast.

Think Nibali, Evans, Sastre and maybe Basso (can`t really rate him atm) will be stronger thatn Vino in the mountains and will decide over the podium. |

Cadel is now 2'05" behind Nibali and 1'52' I think behind Basso. Almost tour over for him unless he'll be in his top form in the mountains. Vino has aprox. 1'30" over Cadel, the only important man under him being Sastre at 2'19" behind Nibali. Very difficult without a team in conclusion... |

He will attack that's for sure . I also think the next differences will be made Saturday in the strade bianche stage and then important ones Sunday at Terminillo. |

Well if Vino isn't up to the task in the Mountains i think Paolo Tiralongo is looking well placed... 10th on GC at 59secs... he did well in the Vuelta last year... outside bet for a high GC placing?
If he doesn't have to work for Vino that is

Vino has shown in Trentino he can climb, do not underestimate him. He'll probably be around to fight for the GC for longer than he is expected to.
Yep, the baby blue guys won't just be looking for the yellow in july, they also want the pink! How does that sound?
God I hope I'm wrong

I agree. Nibali, Basso, Evans, Sastre and Vino will fight for pink. And in myeyes Basso will be the weakest, he don`t really is the Basso from 2006
Maybe i am wrong but Basso didn`t look that strong the last mountain races. |

To me it still seems that Sastre and Evans are the favorites, Evans has become an extremely intelligent rider, and Sastre... if he's in shape, nobody will be able to follow him when the moutain arrive.
I can't believe Vino to stay in top5... I don't want to in fact.
Nibali? I'm quite sure he won't keep it until the end, but a top 3 il really possible.
Basso... really I don't know, he's strong, he's at home, and Liquigas is impressive this year, so maybe. |

Just checking the route today, there seems to be some 'interesting' bends in the finale.
The most prominent is a 90 degree right hander before the final 500 - 750 metres. Not quite as close to the finish as stage 2 but still positioning should be important between 5km to go and 2 km to go.
Columbia, Sky and Garmin will be battling for supremacy here I think. Griepal vs Henderson vs Farrar I've gotta go with Farrar at the moment. |

I'm hoping for a normal sprint for once. No insane bends right before the finish please. Just a normal sprint like in previous years and in every other race.

Unfortunately Greipel isn`t in top fprm because his stomach problems. He said that the rest day wasn`t really good for him. He felt worse after it. So i guess Farrar will do it. I can`t rate Henderson, because he had to work a lot for Wiggins and wasn`t in any mass sprint yet, but his form should be quite well if you believe the time trials.
Maybe Columbia is going for Goss today, his form seems to be great aswell. |

He isn't the 2006 Basso, but I'm starting to think he getting himself into just the right condition for this race and is looking as if he may be stronger than last year.
Vino will be the guy closest I think. Nibali - I don't expect to do a Contador, but you never know. |

Vino said after the TTT that it wasn`t a bad team result. They had a good rythm but maybe they had bad luck with the weather, so they lost a bit in the end. But if i remeber right, I would say that teams like Sky and Garmin had worst conditions and when Astana started the rain was almost over, wasn`t it? |

Two minutes or so before Astana started, it started to rain heavily in the starting area. I don't know though how the rest of the course were for them. |
