Stage 15
Mazamet - Plateau-de-Beille
Pyrenees..3 mounatin stages. Evans need to wach out Valverde , Sastre and try to take yellow back.
Julich and Sanchez atack.
Fothen and Sastre atacks..Evans still waiting..when Valverde atacks just near at the hill top Evans follows..Klöden misses that atack.
Evans working hard at downhill section..he wants to cach Sastre..there is good chanche if Sastre, Valverde and Evans can be together at the last climb..then it's good chanches to stay clear...and Evans will take yellow back.
..and there we are. Valverde is very exited and ask others also to work together.
Leiheimer (who is getting better and better every day) and Klöden atacks..they planning to cach first trio. Evans get that info at team car..and he moves in front and takes even faster relay
Sastre win's the stage..Evans is back in yellow
Klöden cant follow Leipheimer..and finishes with Fothen. he had yellow back just for one day. Valverde is already 3rd. at points classification

Stage 16
Foix - Loudenvielle-Le Louron
Second Pyrenees stage..
Andy is going for very long "Rasmussen" type solo ride. A moment later we gonna see another brave attempt this time Karpets
55km. to go..and most important atack..it's about time Schleck has already 12 min. advantage. Valverde opens. Leipheimer, Valjavec, Rogers, Klöden and Evans.
Valverde has small advantage over rest of the group. Sastre is working hard to chase him down.
Just before mountain top finish..Valverde has joined with he's team mate Karpets..and Evans has moved to front..they closing ...this is it ...they have cached Valverde.
Last climb starts Valverde, Leipheimer and Sastre atacks. Evans trying to keep up with hard relay.
There is big confusion between riders..now one dont want take relay..and Valverde is close to sneak away again. Before final downhill they all together again. Just Valjavec has cracked
If we have Andy Schleck fans this is specialy for them..Andy wins the stage and also takes polka-dot jersey from Contador.

Stage 17
Orthez - Gourette-Col de Aubisque
Last big mountain stage..before flat stages and final TT
They have short advantage over rest of group after attack to collect mounatin top points Carrara, Vila, Andy and wow Simoni first time in action.
40km. to go..strange tactics for Astana and Klöden he moves front at the peloton and sets very high pace.. Evans feeling today much better when yesterday, he follows quite easy.
Astana tempo has done lot of damage just 9 riders has left. Leipheimer, Danielson, Brajkovic, Zubeldia, Pereiro, Kasechkin, Valverde, Klöden, Evans and Sastre.
Tempo is stabylized..Evans who's feeling great today moves front and test opponent todays form. It works.. Valverde atack at group...
...and he is now with Evans. Valverde moves in front and he take's very fast tempo ..trying to shake Evans off.Because today is Valverde last chanche if he want to win this tour. No way..Evans stays where it is
Back are just Kasechkin, Klöden, Rogers, Leipheimer, Pereiro and Brajkovic left..where is Sastre.
Camera finds Sastre he has cracked totaly..strange this is surprise.
2km. to go..Evans has offered many time's to help Valverde (81% relay..Valverde didnt let him to front?)he has refused. But now Valverde is out of the game..Evans go's for great mounatin stage win.
This is it..very important result..this is probably meaning overall win for Predictor-Lotto
Look at Valverde sprint points..Robbie should be careful

Pretty cool to see all the Americans up there (minus Fast Freddy and Saul) It is pretty realistic i that sense that all of the Americans are placing high (all of the americans that finished the tour 2007 finished in the top 25) Go America!

Contador was clearly nr. 2 at the team when he started after Leipheimer..and no Bruyneel tricks..
+ He has run already Giro at this season.
+ He hunted polka-dot few days straight..and just murdered himself at the mounatins.
+ Now he doesn't have any form left..(to confort you - Danielson and Brajkovic going better and better now..wach out Vuelta) |
