Can russia single handedly bring them back? Nobody has any incentive to chase, all the decently strong teams that can bring this back have people there !!!
Australia, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Germany.
Only france don't have anyone there

Nope, france have riblon there. Is this the decisive move with over 100kms to go? Seems so.

Latest news is that Switzerland aren't happy with the group, they want Cancellara up there.

I see potential for Switzerland to get Fabian in there and then that group gets caught and they're all spent and his hopes are shot.

This is hardly the decisive move, a lot of teams can't be content with who they have up front. Something is bound to happen in the peloton.

But the gap is being kept, so they won't jump the gun so soon.
The pace isn't very high at all just yet, and there's still almost 2 hours to go

I think one of the Eurosport commentators just mentioned this but, if the group gets caught close enough to the line by a favorites group then there will be team mates up there to help, like happened in the Vuelta every mountain stage, and I'd hate to see him win but that would be big for Valverde.

They don't have anyone who can cope with these climbs, so they can work and lose or they can sit back, follow wheels and lose. It's just a question of how they want to lose, really.

Maybe they like to do with Kutuzov way (guy who was beating Napoleon)..russia had several german generals..who had plans for every battle..1. regiment will march..
2. waiting in the woods..3.rd in reserv behind mountains..
In reality..1st regment did march..
2. nd was lost in woods..
3. was behind wrong mountain..
Kutuzov was anarchist..he's tactic was simple..keep the reserves..and will see what will happens..no planning |
