The only comment I'll make is that it doesn't seem very honest to say "none of them like it there with Armstrong and they all try to leave as soon as they can".
Pretty much everyone who's signed or is rumored to be signing with Radioshack have ridden with Lance and Bruyneel before.
Obviously Bruyneel buts heads with some riders. But I'd guess most managers have riders they've clashed like that with. The fact that the new team will be mostly riders Bruyneel's had before speaks to him doing pretty well on average.
Can you really say that anyone except his bosom buddies had any other offers? Better to get paid a lot of money to ride your bike and deal with liars than to be unemployed. Especially in a major recession.
Notice how this is such a huge team, yet they're having such trouble signing riders.
Teams this size, when announced in the past, have had bucketloads more riders already signed by this time in the season
Even Paulinho said when asked to go to Radioshack that he wasn't very excited about it, but it was the only offer he had. This despite Bruyneel always trusting him and always wanting him on his teams.

Honestly... I don't know how to judge if a rider has other offers.
I know everyone on here expected it was a given that Paulinho would stay with Contador... and it didn't happen. Perhaps he didn't want to wait on Contador and perhaps miss a shot at his only real contract... but it seems like nobody expected the move.
Honestly, I have no idea how people in cycling view bruyneel... but he always seems to have a lot of guys on his teams who've ridden for him before... and many of them seem to be good enough to have other options. Maybe he pays more. Maybe the guys don't have other options. But for whatever reason he seems to get quite a few guys to come back over and over again. I really don't see any difference between guys staying with him as a team manager and anyone else. They all seem to have guys that are always there... and they all seem to have guys that hate their guts. |

Just to be negative... systematic team doping. If you know someone's so good at it to avoid any of his team ever getting caught, and you know you're only on a contract worth as much as it is because of the dope (or so you believe), you probably end up thinking the only place you can go is to remain with the guy who's set you up. Or maybe he threaten's the riders to stay with him, or he'll tell everyone they're on dope? Maybe Gusev was actually going to leave the team, and instead Bruyneel pulled the plug on him...
The thing is, we won't ever know the real reasons behind most things in cycling. Ever. All we can do is chat shit, and spread massively incorrect rumours.

If they did, I didn't spot it. If I did, I would've commented. On the cyclingnews forum those morons kept "educating me" how Paulinho and Contador are BFFs and will never be separated, etc. Of course, they never once quoted a single fact.
I spent about two weeks there of daily posting to try to show them how stupid they were being at just constantly disregarding all my evidence that Paulinho and Contador are in no way closer than any two normal teammates. But for some reason people decided the teammates HAD to be either Armstrong fans or Contador fans, and based on geography alone decided what Paulinho should think, believe and feel.
Believe me, I didn't think for a second that Paulinho "was sure to follow Cotnador". I thought there was as much chance as of him following anyone else....or of following Klöden who is his good friend in that team.
Contador asked the teams he's negotiating with for 3 or 4 specific riders. Paulinho is not one of them.

Name another DS other than Bruyneel or Ferretti that riders open deride.
Just a couple of months ago Benoit Joachim who rode for Bruyneel for years, years and years said "Johan Bruyneel's great gift is that he's a liar"

Carlos Sastre after leaving Saxo-Bank, talking about Riis:
"far from helping me, he has done just the opposite. He's generated more conflicts than done any good".
"My team mates have been great, I have no problem with them," Sastre, who is third overall behind compatriot Alberto Contador said. "But he (Riis) didn't want to help us." |

That's one rider. That's not a plural
Anyone can hate anyone singularly

Jaksche as well... though I bet you don't count that because of the doping connection. The fact that their TDF winner didn't like him held more weight I though. |

This is all conjecture and what not, but Riis seems like the sort of guy who no one likes as a person, but they all respect his cycling knowledge and intelligence enough that they like him as a manager.
