Stage 4
Vilviestre - Lag. de Neila
Stage we have been waiting for..and also reason why Basso is in this race.
They have in ride just 16km. when hugh surprside atack..Astarloza atack..
and even more surprise..he just keep on pushing. For Liquigas this is ok..there is blenty of time to cach him..and he will be totaly out of game..when they start to climb...
Caisse dont think that way..they starting to pull and fast has possible..already in panic..soon Astarloza one man show was over...
..after that another hugh breakaway wave and 14 riders group getting away..
Climb has started..two breakaway man Martinez and Vasquez still pushing at the front..
main group...Larsson must be exited after TT win..he has just few seconds behind Valverde in the GC..he is atacking first..at least brave move..
...then Machado, Chavanel, Blanco..they have cached breakaway G2..
Blanco and Rujano atack..and there is last breakaway rider Martinez..
here comes Basso and Mosquera..
Now one dont like to take relay..but tempo is still very high..Blanco, Mosquera and Basso.
If they look behind they can see Valverde who is trying to get into this lead group..
Last km.Basso has something more to give..
He takes stage win..Valverde comes 13 sec. later this is not enough..Valverde holds tour lead.. But this wasnt goal... Basso won the stage but this still was not he's top form perfomance.

Stage 7
Krakow
Last stage..real windy day in Poland. Tempo is real fast...and when if we add strong wind...this is a mess..
First split..Cervelo finds that they have advantage..and most of the team is in it. They keep on pushing..main group is in panic..
37km to go..another split..this is even more serious. Liquigas managed to get Nibali and Bennati into first group..
..and sprinter Haussler at the front..Galdos, Adam Wadecki and Smolen. Bennati?..again?
Here he is..another missed sprint..but most intresting question is..where is tour GC top riders like Siotsou..Garate.. I dont se them in the first group..
Nibali who was before start in 5th. position in the GC should wait results now..
Haussler takes stage win..
Siotsou was into third group..1'47 later..that means. Nibali was real lucky today..thanks to that windy day he takes tour win..
This was real weak tour for Liquigas..both Bennati and Nibali was main favorites for tour, they did not used theyr potential..but finaly lucky end for the race (undeserved one)

Few transfer news:
Hushovd - Lampre
Coocke - Katusha
Napolitano - Milram
Klier, Gadret - Cofidis
Mazzanti - Fuji
Eeckout - Silence Lotto
E.Plaza - Barloworld
Hunter - Rabobank
Arvesen - Cervelo
Kopp, Tombak - Slipstream
Marchante - Ag2r
Gil - de Jeux
Soler - Saxo Bank
Cesaro - Rock Racing
Rabobank is still and again after Cunego..
Like italian team should..they have been after italian riders.
Liquigas have strong sprinters for the future, but after Fischer will retire after this season they will need another one..or just hope that Chicchi will be much better for next season.
Quinziato and Franzoi looking new teams..but I hope after all they will decide to stay. Liquigas dont aiming for cobble races anymore after Pozzato has changed to Katusha after last season.
We have been after Napolitano, Ballan, Mazzanti..and few more italian names..
But we have just got..Gilberto Simeoni ..experienced rider who should take over Noe role after this season and deserved retirement.
Also few good news..Bennati decided finaly to renew he's contract..
Surprise transfer..nobody was not intrested about Zabriskie..so Liquigas decided to invest our weak TT ability.. Zabriskie will be in Liquigas at 2010 season..

Sprinters classic..
Race has started in Hamburg..raiders should be back there ..about 5-6h. later...
We have lonely breakaway raider..Honig..
..and half a race is done. O'Grady puncture..Saxo team wont send anybody to help him back..he is out of the game.
63 to go. Pozzato atack..after hill..
Terpstra and Nuyens trying to follow..Pozzato keep pushing all alone..
..about 30km. later he knows that he can not make it..peloton catches him..
..new atack wave..Ballan has started it..
..then Hoste, Gusev, Maaskant and Quinziato..(this is like cobble classic)..
..moment later Flecha..
..in descent we have new five rider lead group..Hoste, Maaskant, Ballan, Gusev and Quinziato. Flecha for some reason decided do not follow.
Lead group has working hard..but 5km before finish,,peloton is to close to survive out there..Liquigas is so pleased that Quinziato was in this breakaway group. This was super strong and fast breakaway. Now Benna..
..last corner..Caisse playing for Valverde (again..and again! Cant wait Vuelta startlist)
Bennati, Boonen, Cavedish, Freire, Cancellara, Wegmann, Gilbert..this is classic!
Last km. has started Bennati takes a lead..Boonen has passed Valverde at the right side Gilbert, Cavedish, Freire and de Larrea still in the game..Valverde is faiding..
..Boonen is trying to pass Bennati..Cavedish still follows..
..Boonen takes a lead.
..and Boonen it is...Bennati second..3rd. Cavedish..
well this was realy something..fun and great race.
Bennati..few days ago he just finished poland tour..and we all know disaster results from there..today this was something else..He needed a real rival to fight with? Today I am happy that I managed to renew he's contract.

Stage 2
Beek - Roermond
again bad weather for cycling...yesterday was raining. Today we have strong sidewind..
..and we ahve a split..Quinziato and Bennati managed to get into first group..lonely Liquigas rider between G1 and G2 is Chicchi..
Thanks to Saxo and Katusha they managed fight back..this was close call. So hard to ride that 1min. gap down when 60 riders group at the front pushing hard..
weird sprint..at first Florencio getting away..this is lead out or breakaway attemp?
This is like introducion who is lead out man for who..Euskaltel and Larrea-Galdos, Columbia ..Burghardt - Cavedish, Katusha...Napolitano- Steegmans..lonely Saxo bank rider is O'Grady
..and sprint Larrea passing he's lead out..O'Grady trying to follow..Florencio is slowing down..
--we have surprise winner for second stage ..Euskaltel and Fernandes de Larrea..second O'Grady..
..sprint super stars arrive..missed sprint for Boonen, Huhshovd and Bennati..this has been tricky day..
Tony Martin taking leader jersey..(thanks to sprint check point)..
P.S. Someone has done such great work to with Eneco stages..looks nice with all this logos ..10km. mark..etc..etc.

Stage 4
Terneuzen - Ardooie
Rain and wet cobble stones..
Napolitano can control he's bike..
..Tony Martin..rider who was leading the tour after stage two..is down in descent..
spli..Flecha and Ballan at the front..Quinziato and Bennati is in that group..Kirchen...Maaskant..
Next hill Trepstra keep pushing..Maaskant follows..Quinziato will drag Bennati in this group..what to do? Wait or we should go..? ..managment decided that this one is to early..and Bennati with Quinziato comes back to the group..
Trepstra and Maaskant keep going..
..great situation for Milram..Trepstra with Maaskant..and they have caught Voss.. But has he power left to help he's team leader?
Then Maaskant decided to leave Trepstra behind and go alone..
Strange breakaway..O'Grady just speeding with Cancellara away from main pack..
Tour leader Rollin is totaly lost with this hard condition he is fading further and further behind..
..at the same moment when O'Grady caught Maaskant...Cancellara launches atack..
Same time at the main pack..Petacchi should give up..
Moment later Cavedish..same story..
Now one dont like to go after Saxo duo and Maaskant..main group passed 10km. mark..when Quinziato decided that they have waited enough. He has moved front of the group..
..and then Hushovd atack..
Devolder with Bennati counters..
Situation..Cancellara is leading..G2 Devolder, O'Grady, Hushovd..G3 Bennati, Maaskant and Gasparotto..
..Devolder has left Hushovd and O'Grady behind ..he is going after Cancellara..this has turned out has 2 GC win main favorite power show...
..Devolder passes Cancellara inside last km..
..and takes stage win..this must "taste" good..Cancellara takes tour lead..
Bennati 4th. this was super strong stage for him..but I belive when Eneco tour is over we can find Quinziato hite GC place compared to Benna..

Stage 5
Ardooie - Oostende
Hugh breakaway group..another windy day..
split..at the main group..Ag2r team is getting away..
Liquigas start to work at the front to get back (Willems and Carlström)..they have so much work with watching each other and fight with strong sidewind ..that breakaway group is almost out of the reach..
..and they must know this..Breakaway raiders starting a battle "Who will take stage win?"
Hary, Perrig Quemeneur and Irizar
..Irizar counters he is off..
..and takes stage win..another one for Euskaltel..Five stages behind and Eusaltel having two stage wins in Eneco...did not expect that one.
Main pack arrive 1'37 later..Hushovd is fastest there..

Disappointing that Benna cannot get up there in the sprints after showing obvious form in the vattenfall classics.
I think Nibali deserved his luck in Poland for all the good work he has put in over the year!!!
Looking forward to Basso and the Vuelta, inceidentely how is your protour ranking coming along? |
