okay it's a nice story.. Very well written and good SS .. But some guys just have to relax .. It's just insane that some can't wait a day for an update and so on .. Like go do something else and then when you come back the next day there will be several new updates.. |

Yes Valverde beating the likes of Plaza and Gutierrez is very surprising. He must be in good shape which makes it even more odd that he is not doing the Tour. He must be preparing something big for the Vuelta then.

Tour de France - Stage 2

Flat stage today. We'll try and get out there on a breakaway today. Most of the team is in really good shape, but we've yet to test out some of our youngsters amongst the pros.
Aramendia follows as Arvesen and Vansummeren goes on the attack. They get a decent gap on the pack and work well together.

73km, but that only lasted for so long. Aramendia and Engoulvent are dropped first as Arvesen and Vansummeren go on their own for now.

67km, Gerolsteiner and Liquigas are determined to bring the escapees back. They wont last long!

60km to go and the break is nearly caught, Flecha and Burghardt accellerate away from the peleton, but it seems like a doomed apptempt from the very start. The peleton are going 50+ km/h. The break is caught shortly after.

With 11,7 to go we're positioning Galdos to the front. For safe measures we'll move Sanchez up a bit also.

Mass crash in the pack! Sanchez is in it! It couldn't have happened at a worse time! The peleton is going as fast as it can towards the sprint and Sanchez will have to go full steam to try and get back! Bringing someone back to help him with 9km to go simply wont make a difference. Also, only our sprinter and Astarloza are fresh enough to work for anything. And if Sanchez loses time here we need Astarloza without loss.

5,6km to go and he's trying his best to get back to the pack. The peleton is stretched out a fair bit by now, this could save us!

3.6 and there's a definate gap. Sanchez is doing what he can but it looks like we'll lose time!

Meanwhile, up front Boonen, Gasparotto, Davis and Hushovd are fighting for victory! It looks like Gasparotto at 500m!

But the Gasparotto runs out of power and Davis and Boonen are neck and neck. This is too close to call!

And it's Davis who wins it by an inch! Davis takes the yellow jersey from Schumacher! The Mitzubishi team get's an early win and can allready call their tour a succes. But what of Sanchez.

Sanchez crosses the line 2 minutes after the pack. Our GC aspirations took a huge hit in that crash! Sanchez can't believe it.

I cant believe your luck some times. Now you'll need to be super aggressive in the mountains. Which is the Euskaltel way of life I guess. I hope you'll be able to claw back some of the lost time. |

Well, it's a 2 minute gap, i might be able to claw some of it back with some crafty planning. Having 2 "big riders" here will be a big help i hope. But with 2 timetrials and so many good timetrialers here, it will be a little tough, no doubt about it. |

It is just so harsh to see your top 5 hopes go down the drain onthe 2nd stage already. Is Astarloza strong enough for at top 5?

Sanchez will be mid 90's for the first half of the race and then proceed to peak in the final half.
Astarloza will be mid 90's at best at the middle of the race(fatigue) |
