Was there crosswinds in the sprint?
In the run-up a lot of wind, but in the sprint itself mainly brute force

Stage 4: Al Thakira – Madinat Al Shamal
*** Favourites ***
Cavendish (OPQ), Kittel (ARG), Goss (OGE)
** Outsiders **
Brookes (BAR), Boonen (OPQ), Nizzolo (RLT), Matthews (OGE), Coquard (EUC)
* Can’t be underestimated *
Petacchi (OPQ), Richeze (LAM), Steegmans (OPQ), Phinney (BMC), Hushovd (BMC), Guido (MTN), Sinkeldam (ARG), Davis (OGE)
Once again
O’Callaghan is among the early attackers and once again the peloton keep them closely under watch.
Haller takes the first intermediate in front of
Brammeier and
O’Callaghan .
Also in the group:
J. Keough, Shaqif, Zakarin, Gène, Mironov, Honig, Kreder, Verschoor, Juodovalkis, Clancy and
Konovalovas .
On the second intermediate it’s
Brammeier, O’Callaghan, Gène .
OPQS are forced to do all the work in the peloton.
With 50 km to go they have 4’20’’ to the front group.
25 km to go.
Argos and
Orica have started working as well and the gap is down to 1’30’’
7 km to go the break has been caught, but the three teams leading the peloton keep up the frantic pace with everyone else struggling to get positioned.
With 3,5 km to go we have three distinct trains.
Nizzolo is on the back of the
QuickStep train, which has the advantage.
As
Boonen starts his leadout
Petacchi slips back and blocks
Nizzolo from staying on
Cavendish ’s wheel.
1 km left.
Coquard have gotten hold of
Cav ’s wheel while
Matthews and
Sinkeldam are trying to get their captains to the front.
500 m left
An easy finish for the Manx Missile.

Coquard had perfect position, but probably had to waste all his energy to get there. OPQS sprinttrain is ridiciously strong here.

6th! Our best result yet. Thor was clearly hurt by my comments yesterday and wanted to show he's still got it. Any chance of an attack by Ballan? He only needs 5 seconds to get into the top ten.

It won't happen, we have the race fully under control.

I forgot completely my 500th,
Nice from Tom, but how did he not win those sprint, I mean, he's a sprinter!
Disappointing from Fabian so far, but I haven't seen any Bardiani riders pictured near the end, all this train for nothing! We have a decent squad, but it's hey, let's all go in the break and leave Fabian to pull a rabbit out of a hat, (.no offense dippofix). I get the worst luck in this!

They do sit around him in the peloton most of the day though. It's just in the final 15 km or so that they start to disappear.

I'll take that personally!
Tom was just trying to take the pressure of Bardiani!

To be honest, I'm glad he got on the pictures, only mention of the team really, except, for 'Fabian leads home the second group'. Just wish that it was the final sprint we won, come on guys, let's get this Podium! Maybe the break will stay away and he'll win the sprint!
