Extending Contract
Ian Watson, our big sprint talent, has extended his contract. The contract from him would end at the end of 2014, but we decided to break his contract and give him a new one. His contract will now end at the end of 2016. There were several other teams interested in him and some of the teams made contact with us, but of course we didn’t want to lose him so we gave him a new contract. The contract was already signed during the Tour of Britain, but we decided to wait with bringing out the news.

sutty68 & Ian Butler: He's one of our best riders at the moment, so it was important to keep him. Hopefully we can enjoy his results.

A great decision to extend Watson's contact there Holmes!
I hope you increased his salary, he is the type of rider the team needs to keep if you are to get the big wins in the future. |

The Rider: He didn't ask for more money, so we just gave him his current salary. He is one of the riders who has to take important results for us, and he know he's one of our leaders at our team, so currently he's still happy with his salary. Of course we have to raise it in the future, but not yet.

World ITT Championships
Stage Preview
I've watched the World Championships on TV and used Twitter to make a report about it. Some of my cyclists joined me in the conversation. I hope you'll enjoy this style of reporting.
@MrUfo87: Today is the World Championship Individual Time-Trial. Let’s see if Tony Martin will win again.
@IanWatson: @MrUfo87: Looking forward to it. Hopefully Tejay van Garderen can do well.
@MrUfo87: @IanWatson: I hope the Dutchies can do better. And by the way: Van Garderen isn’t even participating.
@IanWatson: Whoops. My bad.
@SobczykIgor: @MrUfo87: Poland for life!
@MrUfo87: The Russian rider Vorobyev is the first one to start.
@MrUfo87: Vorobyev sets fastest time at first intermediate: 26’45”.
@MrUfo87: Van Emden is about to start.
@LFreire: @MrUfo87: Teruel is now the best at the first intermediate. Yay!
@MrUfo87: @LFreire: And now he’s not anymore.
@MrUfo87: Van Emden seventh at “37 behind Vermote.
@LFreire: Teruel is still better.
@MrUfo87: We’re not finished yet. Mouris starting now.
@ByrnE: Froooommme!
@MrUfo87: Apparently Slovakia couldn’t find anyone better than Juraj Sagan...
@MrUfo87: Van Emden third at second intermediate. “17 seconds faster than Teruel. @LFreire Where are you now?
@MrUfo87: UNBELIEVABLE! Van Emden second at “0! Vermote leading at the finish.
@MrUfo87: Lars Boom starting as last rider from the Netherlands.
@IanWatson: Go Phinney! Only Cancellara, Wiggins and Martin left to start.
@MrUfo87: Mouris tenth at 1’10”. Van Emden still second.
@MrUfo87: Boom fastest at first intermediate! 25’23”!
@ByrnE: @MrUfo87: Wiggins seventeen seconds faster now.
@MrUfo87: Boom lost a lot of time at the second intermediate.
@ARodriguesPor: Oliviera fastest at second intermediate!
@MrUfo87: Finally the time of Vermote is beaten. He was the third one who set a time. Now Ludvigsson is first, one second ahead.
@MrUfo87: Boom ninth at 33”.
@ARodriguesPor: Oliviera first!
@MrUfo87: Don’t know what Martin, Cancellara and Phinney are doing but their intermediate times are really bad.
@SobczykIgor: They’re probably riding a time-trial.
@MrUfo87: @SobczykIgor: I’m not sure about that. Did you give them alcohol last night or something?
@IanWatson: Nooo, Phinney!
@MrUfo87: Those results are going to be surprising.
@MrUfo87: Wiggins is the new World Champion ITT! Oliviera second, Ludvigsson third, Vermote fourth and Van Emden fifth!
@ARodriguesPor: @MrUfo87: Oliviera second! Yihaaa!
@ByrnE: @MrUfo87: Wiggins new World Champion! Great!
@MrUfo87: Cancellara beaten by Kohler. Lol! Damn, Tony Martin finished last! What happened to him!
@MrUfo87: Dutchies: Van Emden 5th, Boom 13th and Mouris 28th. @LFreire: Still better than Spain...
@LFreire: We’ll beat you at the Road race!

Some different results than expected there for the WCTT race!
Great commentary piece, although..... it might have been better if TheUFo87 joined MrUFo87 for the commentary! |

The Rider: I'm going to make two Twitter accounts and troll myself with my other account. Genius.
sutty68: Now you say so, I didn't even realize that the gap to third was that small.
Ian Butler: Yeah, I don't know what Froome, Cancellara and Martin were doing but they failed. And many surprises in the top-12. Unfortunately I pressed twice on continue so I didn't have the time to export the full results.

World Championships
Stage Preview
Finally it's the big day. Who will be the new world champion and take over the Rainbow Jersey from Philippe Gilbert? Or will he take a back-to-back victory?
@MrUfo87: Today is the World Championships RR. Will support the Dutchies!
@LFreire: @MrUfo87: This time Spain will beat you!
@MrUfo87: Attack from Porsev! Just like in the time-trial the Russians are opening here as well.
@IanWatson: Dombrowski!
@SobczykIgor: @IanWatson: Marycz!
@MrUfo87: @IanWatson, @SobczykIgor: Nobody!
@SobczykIgor: @MrUfo87: Huh? Didn’t get that one. Did you use my alcohol yesterday evening?
@MrUfo87: @SobczykIgor: No, I’m just saying who is attacking from my country just like you guys did.
@MrUfo87: The weather is bad and it won’t become better today.
@LFreire: @MrUfo87: The weather is always bad in the Netherlands. The Spanish weather is much better!
@LFreire: @MrUfo87: World Championships in the Netherlands and no Dutch rider in the breakaway? Bad.
@MrUfo87: @LFreire: We don’t have to be in the breakaway. It’s only wasting energy.
@MrUfo87: First time we passed the finish line. 9 laps to go.
@MrUfo87: Iglinsky attacking. That’s very early.
@MrUfo87: @LFreire: Still 112 kilometres to go and the gap is only three minutes. Belgium, Australia and Italy leading the peloton.
@MrUfo87: @LFreire: Breakaway caught. Lesson one: when you ever ride a WC, don’t go in the early breakaway.
@MrUfo87: Group with 55 riders behind, including Boasson Hagen, Breschel and many Germans. Peter Sagan is also in that group! Only Degenkolb, who was in the early breakaway, is still in the peloton from Germany. The other eight are done. USA also missing six of their eight riders.
@MrUfo87: With 33 kilometres to go, the peloton breaks again. Many big names aren’t in the first group anymore. Only 48 riders left.
@MrUfo87: One lap to go! Attacks are coming. Clarke and Moser leading, behind them Henao and Löfkvist, then Sam. Sánchez, Slagter and Gerrans. Gilbert attacking as well.
@MrUfo87: Nine kilometres to go! Slagter attacking from inside the leading group of nine riders!
@MrUfo87: Three kilometres to go, Slagter is on the Cauberg. His gap is 20 seconds.
@MrUfo87: Gerrans attacking and catches Slagter. He’s now leading.
@MrUfo87: Gerrans World Champion!
@MrUfo87: Slagter second, Ruijgh tenth. @LFreire: Sam. Sánchez eighth! Netherlands – Spain: 2-0.
@LFreire: @MrUfo87: Well, next year better.
@MrUfo87: Results: 1. Gerrans, 2. Slagter, 3. Gilbert, 4. Moser, 5. Henao, 6. Clarke, 7. Boonen, 8. Sam Sánchez, 9. Löfkvist, 10. Ruijgh.

Aguilar surprised us all with his victory in Great-Britain. Can he do the same next month. And don’t forget the great third place from Watson; he’s in shape as well. We’ll end the season with two one-day races. It will be tough, because there are some World Tour teams starting here as well.

Giro d’Emilia
Stage Preview
It was our last sponsor goal for the season, but it would be a tough one. There were several World Tour teams participating which sent some good riders. For example Contador, who had a very bad season. He fell early in the season, participated the Tour de France in bad shape and skipped La Vuelta.
During the race, we already knew it was not our day. Remuzgo was in the breakaway, but with hundred kilometres to go some better riders joined the breakaway. Meanwhile our other riders were struggling in the peloton. And eventually, Remuzgo had to let the others go and the peloton caught him. He also lost contact to that group. Costa won the uphill sprint from the first group. Our best rider was Aguilar, on position 39, immediately followed by Remuzgo who finished 40th. Top-10 was far from possible today so we didn’t achieve our last sponsor goal.

Congrats on 99.9% completing the season.
It is always hard to be in decent form for the end of season races/ but it has been a great season for Hot Wheels, even if you did screw Watson with that contract!! |

The Rider: Thanks for supporting the team 99.9% of the season. Well, the riders aren't really in bad shape, but the competition is just very high in these races. And Watson shouldn't earn too much money on his age. We don't want a macho in our team.
Jakstar22: Thanks!

Stage Preview
Our last race of the season. It should be, just like yesterday, a difficult one. Several good riders started here.
Of course we were in the breakaway. At the beginning it wasn’t really looking good, but after a time, it was looking better for the breakaway. With eight kilometres to go they still had forty seconds. But unfortunately, or fortunately, there was still a hill in front of us.
Remuzgo, who was in the breakaway, saw his chance and attacked. But unfortunately there were riders from the peloton who attacked as well. We tried to escape with Aguilar and Watson as well, but it was only a waste of energy.
Valverde won solo in front of his teammate Visconti. And because of his failed attack Watson didn’t have the energy for a good sprint anymore. He finished 24th, as the best rider of the season. Well, this was our last race. Soon there’s coming a review about the season and of course results from WT races are coming, which I didn’t give you yet except from the Grand Tours. Also there will come a list with the transfers and other things that will change next season. And then we can finish the season, together.
