I just think he doesnt give his all the time like other top riders do,
This has to be easily the weakest argument of you since this discussion started.
Dude it's a fact, and obviously you have no idea how serious a kidney inflammation is. If you even start denying facts to win an argument, then you better stop right there
well, all i know about a kidney inflammation is that if its treated in an early stage, you should be fine with a few days of antibiotics+rest
so i can understand he missed the first two, however i cant understand why he can train fully for hours in the sun at lanzarote the 1st of december, but is unable to participate 30th and 29th of november
When Nys falls and fucks up his finger and has a swollen eye, he doesnt give up, and races the next day and fights for what he's worth
When Wellens has the flu and his wife is in the hospital cause there are complications with her pregnancy, Wellens races the next day and fights for what he's worth
When Boom has something or when hes not on a surface that he likes, he either doesnt race or doesnt give 100%, and i think thats lame for a world champion
https://www.dewiel...berid=1836
i agree with him, but i guess he doesnt know much about cyclocross or "hates" dutchies ;-)

Not exactly, he is comparing a fucked up finger with a kidney inflammation, besides, it wasn't treated in an early stage, it was only discovered when he already had a fever for 3 days.
I wonder how you are going to come back from this. |

Ruben, how he always comes back, with strong Belgian (or Flemish) patriotism and very little logic. |

he meant me, not Ruben
indeed, after 3 days = early stages imo
and im not comparing Nys his fucked up finger with Boom his kidney inflammation, i just brought that up to show why i think other riders are giving their all all the time, despite having their own problems, and Boom isnt
I just think if Nys/Wellens/Vantornhout/Stybar/Groenendaal/Al had the same kidney inflammination Boom had, they wouldnt have dropped the last two races(29nov-30nov), they would have rode it to the best of their ability at the time And I think Boom, being the world champion, should have done so as well

The reason Nys always struggles at the Worlds (except '05) is because he rides all out during the whole season, and is exhausted by the worlds. I give Nys credit for being so tough and competitive, but it always comes back to haunt him by the end of the season. |

You think that, because you want a belgian to win the worlds, which is exactly why cyclo-cross is being killed as sports. They want it more international, but if there are guys like Boom, Mourey and Franzoi, who then win a few crosses and the world title, they should be "forbidden to ride" or "unworthy champions"
Belgium has cyclo-cross in a dying stranglehold. The mentality is all wrong. If they wan't to beat Boom at the worlds, they need to stop complaining about unworthy this and unfair that, and try to do the same. Instead of picking up 8000 euro's at every cross, Sven Nys style, to pick up the money and then being exhausted at the end. |

1) is this an argument.....?
2) boom asks near the 4000 euro himself ( if its not even more)
3)we're not killing it. we just have a lot of decent cyclists
4) we don't want a belgian victory ( just someboy who rides the whole season like simunek/stybar/al/mourey/....) = a worhty champion
this is total bs that you just told

Well since you came with no arguments, I'm not trying anymore either. I have countered everything you came up with. And the best you come up with, is no facts and "unworthy this" and blabla that.
Mourey a whole season? Don't let me laugh.
And Boom rides a full season, I gave the argument for that already, and it wasn't countered at all. Although MortChill tried, but failed horribly when faced with the facts

he doesn't ride the whole season ; in how many races this season hasn't boom been at the start??? btw check above we have given you a couple of new arguments that you haven't countered yet. Mourey rides a whole season . he just doesn't ride in belgium always . he rides often in france ( he's french duh!, the French are renowned for chauvenism).
seriouslty though. this thread deserves his own soap
and why don't you give us any arguments that we can't counter.....
oh wait are there any arguments?

I have no problem with a foreign guy becoming world champion, even if he does race only a few races before the WC.
Boom deserved to be world champion because he was the best on the day
However I do feel that the world champion owes it to the sport, the fans, himself, to wear his shirt with pride, to try and show it as much as possible, week in week out, giving it his all, showing why he is the world champion and noone else.
And for me, Boom hasnt done that enough
He dropped races, went training for 2 weeks in the middle of the season and rode 50% of the races as training or gave up trying after a few laps and just finished the race, and i think thats lame (THAT is collecting money, not what Nys does)
And about Sven Nys his 8000 euros, he deserves every penny of it imo, most of the fans come and pay to watch him race, he is the man to beat, and he always rides to win, unlike Boom, who as world champion collects as much i think, but as a paying fan youre not sure whether youre gonna see the real Boom race or if its just gonna be a training for him

Okay, I am now hoping that Stybar wins and so both the Belgians and Dutch will go back into their little holes and cry. Either him or Ryan Trebon would be best. |
