@sutty: Okay, I'll handle it better in the future (since I'm going to filmschool in September I better learn to deal with lots of criticism anyway)
Awesome that you like it so much The many, many replies are much appreciated
@marcellus51: Thank you The next races are the four hilly rides (Brabantse Prijs, Amstel, Waalse Pijl & L - B - L), where Eric will work hard for Jelle Vanendert.
Brabantse Prijs probably up here this evening or tomorrow morning.

Brabantse Prijs
Well, the profile was a bummer: cobblestones and barely hilly. This is just a build up to the classics, I guess.
I spend my day taking it easy in the pack.
It wasn't a pleasant ride for me, definitely not with that weather.
Leukemans won with a nice solo! He still has it.

A great ride by Bak, who had a free role here today! He seems to be getting in shape for the Giro. (I finished 115th)
Granted, this wasn't the most interesting day for me. I'm looking forward to the Amstel Gold Race, I've never raced a classic before!
See you there! |

Well yes, ofcourse But it was actually quite hard, 6 hours of training every day, including a running session every morning.. And my head still hurts from last night We have had some great fun with the Scouts And I have to pay the price for that now
Great story, great victories btw.
I don't reply much here, but that doesn't mean I don't like it. It's the best story I've read so far and I follow it very closely |

@Logghje: Thanks for the compliment! (6 hours of volleyball, must be hard on the wrists )
@JuanMotr: That was pretty much the best he could do in that race (I passed all right ) |

Yeah, he couldn't do much on the cobbles anyway, so it was better to avoid danger and save himself for Amstel |

Amstel Gold Race
The hilly classics are finally here. Though I've got to say that I'm not really interesting in these races. Like I once said, I mostly get better by the day, so one day races aren't really my thing. I'm solely here to support Vanendert the best I can, so I have no problems riding purely as a domestique here today.
The breakaway of the day was quickly formed.
The peloton was in no hurry to chase the breakaway. So I had a little time to enjoy the Netherlands.
But with 70km left, Vanendert sent me ahead.
I joined the breakaway fairly soon and waited for further orders.
My breakaway had woken up the pack and BMC was in charge of it.
Maybe that was Vanendert's tactic, to tire them out. I was the bait, but I like being chased!
With under 40km left to go, other attacks came. Jelle Vanendert made the big mistake of not going with them and found himself alone in the peloton, with all other favorites gone.
And suddenly I heard someone behind me, I'd been caught by nobody less than Philippe Gilbert!
I tried to keep up with him but his pace was just killing me. By then, Jelle had started one big chase and many passed me by, including him. Judging by his speed, he would've been able to stay with Gilbert.
But he waited too long and Gilbert was gone, to go win this race for the fourth time in a row! This really is his cup of tea.
Jelle chased down riders like a maniac and won the sprint for the fourth place. That's good, but he could've won today...
I finish 19th, which is actually a decent result.

Too bad Vanendert made a tactical mistake, but now he will not make that error again.
Let's see what he can in the Flèche Wallonne
Winners never quit, quitters never win.
It's difficult not to be happy when you're surrounded by Belgians. - Mark Cavendish

La Flèche Wallonne
Today I didn't feel top, so Vanendert didn't want to risk sending me ahead when I haven't the right legs. The B-plan involved sending Tosh Van Der Sande in the breakaway of the day, which he successfully did!
And so the peloton relaxed...
At 40km left to go, Meersman launched Vanendert and led him away from the peloton, which seemed to be hesitant to catch him.
Vanendert reached Van Der Sande and he gave full gas!
Until Vanendert was alone, with a smaller chasing group behind him.
It came back together and Gilbert attacked! He headed into the final climb alone.
But he had blown his legs, and Vanendert was going strong!
What an excellent sprint Vanendert has uphill! He finally overtakes his old master and puts him on the place where he belongs, behind Vanendert, king of the hills!
I finished 38th, safe and sound inside the pack, or what was left of it.

See you for the final of the classics, Liège - Bastogne - Liège! |
