Happy I will be able to see Friday's stage, although every stage I've watched live he's been dropped
well you probably shouldnt watch the stage if want him having a chance
i am curious to see where he ends up - he was struggling a few days ago but today he seemed quite strong and he is a good time trialist considering his opponents so i think a top 3 should be possible

Why? His attack was ridiculous. He could easily have stayed with leading group if not that stupid attack (and that comes from biggest Euskaltel fan). |

Mayo, when you accidently double-post you can delete your post by going into edit and delete
Fabio Felline impressed me today. Dubbed as a classics star finished 26th today wchich is great for such a young rider. Uran did great job too with keeping with the best, really surprised me a bit today. Overall it was a really nice stage.

Because he tried something, instead of defending his whatever-th place like everyone else.

But why so early? If he had power to chase leading group alone almost all Giau after early attack then he definitely was feeling very good today. And seeing that everyone expect Pozzo and Basso were dying at the end of Giau Nieve could have attacked of Giau. |

I guess he thought someone with ambition, decent legs, and some time lost in GC (Gadret, Urán, etc) would join him. Then he looked back and saw a peloton full of ambitionless bots, so he just went on. Can't blame him for having guts (or for being a bot with a more gutsy DS, who knows ).

Scarponi apparently didn't drink enough and got dehydrated. Not saying that it's necessarily the reason why he popped, but still worth noting.

I love when riders have guts to attack, but sometimes you have to use you head and not heart. If he is feeling so strong right now then this could have been a good start for a great Dolomites campaign which would eventually had led him to Top 5. As for Gadret, before the stage he said that he will only attack on Giau(if at all). |

Yeah, well, MAYBE, he could have wheelsucked until he blows and climb a couple of places in GC.
I'm sorry, but I'd rather have this kind of outsiders actually trying things than wheelsucking to an anonymous 8th place.

This, it's why I've never really been a fan of Garmin's GC riders.

Believe me, I want him to win a stage and he should have his chances on Friday. But then it should be an early break like last year on Gardeccia stage. |

Yeah, he pretty obviously got cramps, and that's usually the reason for cramps.
He should be a lot better tomorrow. I'm also expecting RodrÃguez to lose time.
As for Nieve: Just because you can attack doesn't mean you should. In this case he broke the 1st rule of cycle racing tactics: You don't attack when there's a long way to the finish and the peloton is going at it full tilt.

I'm not that suprised by Hesjedal tbh. When i read stories about him focussing on the giro... And if he climbs as well as TDF 2010 than it was to be expected he could do well. But in 2011 he was slightly off (also due to injuries).
A top hesjedal can top 5 because the giro field is pretty weak. And now he's even stronger than before so possibly even top 3. I don't think he'll crack in the weekend. He might lose time but hesjedal never really cracks. He can ride own pace and has a smilar climbing style as Gesink.
Finally. This is what I have wanted to say, for the longest time!
Its why I like Gesink so much actually
In my mind they are almost twins, but I think Gesink is a shade more talented. Still I like Hesjedal and if he wins the Giro that would be amazing! |

I think Euskaltel's plan was counting on a better Txurruka, just as Liquigas was relying on Szmyd. I mean Nieve only had his team mate for a few hundred meters, I bet the plan was to have him at least till the end of Duran.

Damn it. I keep saying "tomorrow".
Anyway, about tomorrow I doubt Cavendish will win it. It's a tired team Sky with 4 or 5 riders to chase a breakaway that will likely be huge, with the other 21 teams having zero reasons to lend a hand.

Kreuziger, you bastard!
Why do you do this to me every damn year?!
I am a bit angry too, but he was never so bad before, he had bad day every GT,but never so bad to loose 11minutes.In the end, he finished 9th,9th and 6th in three last GTs.
And here are his words what happened yesterday, i am translating from czech, so sorry for possible faults:
Q :What happened?
A :I got massive cramps. To the whole legs and from my wrists right to the neck through the whole body.I exploded and could not ride suddenly. It was not because of lack of food.
Q : Did you know it was bad right away?
A : Of course, if Kangert would not had wait for me, i would not have finished th stage. And Passo Giau was one big suffering. I thought i will not make it to the summit.I had to stop several times and got down from my bike to shake my legs and continue.
Q :How you feel now, when you lost all your chances for overall?
A :I feel terrible. I am so sad because the team that was working for me whole Giro and also i feel bad because all of my fans, there was lot of czech fans along the road and they supported me even when i was suffering and had only black tunnel in front of my eyes. My Giro is screwed, that is clear.
Q :What now?
A : Tommorow is the easy stage, i will try to regenerate a bit,but i am not sure how i will be able to ride. The GC is gone so i will try to attack and grab a stage, but i have no clue about how good i will be able to ride.
Q :Are you broken?
A : A lot. Something what noone expected happened. The stage should have been ideal for me, i was in great GC position at Giro and now...it is hard to even speak about it.It is one of the worst days of my career. And again thanks for all the support,i let you down.
How it is even possible to get into this state, when you are training whole year like a slave for one race? I feel sorry for Roman, maybe he is really not that GC podium/win contender as many of us wish and expect. Hopefully he will shake this down fast and will try something friday/saturday.
Edit: Maybe Kreuziger should try to target Vuelta some year, that could be good chance to finally grab the GT podium, this year Vuelta winner is sure for me, but behind "you know who" it could be opened. Or maybe Roman will ride Tour also?
