Was in a hurry and mixed up german - english there. Resultat means result.

World Cup Rome
Home races & Visconti
After my exceptional race in the atmospheric scenic Diegem (check it out!), the CX circus sees some Italian sun for once. You know me, I wasn’t too successful in Italy last Autumn. Here I was hoping for a change in the new year, 2015. It all stayed the same. I showed myself, I was active, I failed eventually. Despite the great, huge crowds here in Rome, I couldn’t perform in the crucial moments. Van der Haar won the race, I came in 8th.
Walsleben made a move early on. He is really in some great shape this year and always so eager to animate and take control of a race from the start. However, he wasn’t willing to ride with me and the other guys, and so I ended up alone half-way through. I decide that I prefer to ride alone in front of the tivsoi and their cheering is enough to grant me wings.
But I don’t make the mistake of Diegem again. I save my energy, keep a steady pace. My hopes are that the time lead will be enough if I play it smart and that if it comes to a sprint, I can make a difference by having some fresher legs.
Regardless, my tactic failed. I underestimated the competition today, who were working together to get me back. And I didn’t listen to myself: I fought instead of just admitting defeat. While the crowd loved that, I threw away my chances for winning. The more they came closer, the more I wanted to stay ahead of them. It was a futile attempt but all that I could do at that point… and ultimately, I didn’t stand a chance in the sprint.
For what’s next after the Rome race: I stay in Italy for the National Championships, afterwards I’ll head to Hoogerheide for a last preparation towards the CX World Championships.

Solid 8th place, it could have been a bit more, but at least he did a great show for the tifosi |

Thanks guys. It's always nice to race in front of home crowds, especially when it's CX and Raphael's one of their few riders.

National Championships
Visconti new Italian Champion!
On a parcour in my home region Alto Adige/Südtirol, I was very happy to have finally claimed my first national jersey. 3 years as pro in CX ranks and 2015 is the year for it. There were quite some people at the parcous, but of course you can’t compare it with the CX events in Belgium, Netherlands or Czech Republic. They still cheered and it was great talking with them after the race.
The race itself was a bit weird, since everybody looked at me most of the time. My competition knew that I was the strongest rider in the pack and thus it became quickly a situation of them versus solely me. I still prevailed with some luck.
Later on, some of the Italian riders complained about me and it seems they don’t like a kid scoring such big results, but nevermind them: It’s just another stepping stone, where I feel Italy doesn’t accept me.
| | National Championships | Name | 2015 | | Belgium Championship: | Sven Nys | 2015 | | British Championships: | Ian Field | 2015 | | Czech Championships: | Zdenek Stybar | 2015 | | Danish Championships: | Kenneth Hansen | 2015 | | Dutch Championships: | Lars Van der Haar | 2015 | | French Championships: | Francis Mourey | 2015 | | German Championships: | Philipp Walsleben | 2015 | | Italian Championships: | Raphael Visconti | 2015 | | Luxembourg Championship: | Gusty Bausch | 2015 | | Polish Championships: | Mariusz Gil | 2015 | | Spanish Championships: | Isaac Fernandez | 2015 | | Swiss Championships: | Julien Taramarcz | 2015 | | US Championship: | Jeremy Powers |
With the National Championship raced, I now travel to Hoogerheide for the last preparation race ahead of the World Championships in Tabor. At Hoogerheide, you'll see me then already in my national jersey, big thanks once again to Grupetto Azzurri designer krisa!
Depending on my results there, I either continue to attend at some more CX events or I’ll be gearing up for road season.
