EPIC - Season 1 Part 1
Atlantius
Happy that you liked the TTT-report. They can be rather annoying to report Wink

Odds are you won't get the next stage today, so no need to get exited just yet...

Well the goal was to win the GC...

Not that I was ever realistically hoping for it, but still possible.

Stage 3: Dukha – Al Gharafa Stadium
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/EPIC/EPIC-Qat-3-1_zpsfbf4de1e.jpg
*** Favourites ***
Cavendish (OPQ), Kittel (ARG), Boonen (OPQ),

** Outsiders **
Goss (OGE), Brookes (BAR) Nizzolo (RLT), Matthews (OGE), Petacchi (OPQ)

* Can’t be underestimated *
Coquard (EUC), Richeze (LAM), Steegmans (OPQ), Phinney (BMC), Impey (OGE), Davis (OGE), Markus (VDC), Colbrelli (BAR)

i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/EPIC/EPIC-Qat-3-2_zpsde2a6358.jpg
Bardianis Irishman O’Callaghan is among the riders trying to get away early on.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/EPIC/EPIC-Qat-3-3_zps03cc1dce.jpg
Devolder and QuickStep keep things closed though.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/EPIC/EPIC-Qat-3-4_zps6f677c26.jpg
At the first intermediate it’s Caethoven in front of Hovelynck and Di Silvestro and Schmidt. Half a minute further back we have Traksel, De Maar, Di Corrado, Balloni and Zakarin, who has 4 minutes to the peloton.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/EPIC/EPIC-Qat-3-5_zps4e8aace6.jpg
The second intermediate is taken by Traksel ahead of Caethoven and Zakarin.

The break has 3’30’’ to the peloton with 40 km to go.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/EPIC/EPIC-Qat-3-6_zps05642f59.jpg
With OPQS and Argos dedicated to the chase the break seems doomed with 25 km to go and a gap of 1’40’’

A group of 29 riders have lost contact with the peloton. The most prominent among them is Thor Hushovd.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/EPIC/EPIC-Qat-3-7_zps75888de4.jpg
With 10 km to the line the break is caught and the peloton has been brought down to 60 rider in the crosswind.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/EPIC/EPIC-Qat-3-8_zpse052be59.jpg
Tony Martin does some real damage and at the 5 km mark only 28 riders remain in the front group with QuickStep calling the shots.
This is really turning into their race!
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/EPIC/EPIC-Qat-3-9_zps022471cd.jpg
Boonen starts his leadout on the three km mark. Cavendish is right in his wheel followed by Sinkeldam, Kittel, Goss, Nizzolo, Markus and Brookes.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/EPIC/EPIC-Qat-3-10_zps0d39daa7.jpg
A massive leadout from Boonen and Cav makes his move with 1,3 km to go. Kittel, Goss and Nizzolo the only ones keeping up.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/EPIC/EPIC-Qat-3-11_zps68853560.jpg
With 200 m to go it’s a close duel.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/EPIC/EPIC-Qat-3-12_zpsdc48e1b0.jpg
The German has the final edge on the line.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/EPIC/EPIC-Qat-3-13_zpse232a972.jpg
Brookes is best in the second row of sprinters.

Some interesting time gaps here..

And wow, OPQS is gonna get points here Grin
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

What a ride this Nizzolo is doing. Smile

I was quietly expecting something from Cancellara today but maybe that was foolish after he was dropped in the TTT!

Wow, what a waste of space Hushovd is Rolling Eyes. Good ride by Phinney but Ballan is gonna have to try something surely. Maybe with Cancellara.

Ollfardh, anybody taken Langkawi yet? I could do that even though it is a pretty boring race Pfft. I've had enough of Qatar already and wouldn't mind doing something else.
