Martin already finished on 45m09s. 2nd atm is Kwiatkowski with 46m16s. Martin wins the GC withouth doubt. Sergent 3rd with 46m24s. Westra 4th with 46m25s.
However Henao came 13th at the first check point, seems to show good improvement on the TT bike.
Machado and Costa finish on the same time, 46m56s.

That's not a bad ITT by Henao. Too bad this ITT was way too long.
Why put a 35km ITT in a 4-day stage race with only one 5km hilltop finish. Seems stupid |

It is stupid. So last year we had a 5 day stage-race with a 28km TT. Then, this year they take a day away and put a 35km TT. |

Yes, let's not have any variety, let's make all races exactly the same

Vichot wins the GC ahead of Boom and Ten Dam.
Again a good race for Blanco. Funny, they do better without Rabobank. And are having a better season then when they were all on dope in 1996-2007 |

Henao didn't stand a chance of keeping his Overall lead in a TT against Martin |

Didn't know Algarve's time trial was this long. Martin curshing everyone's not a surprise. Kwiatkowski also rode very well, forgot about him. |

Oh, again, the most used mistake ever!
And to be honest, i am glad that there are some unique races, that offers opportunity to the great TTists to win them. If climbers want to win it, they should attack and not just sit there and wait for last kilometres. Because then they will be crushed by Martin.

But the point, there were no climbs here to offset the TT. And in fact, this TT is one of the longest TT's in the whole season, with a course that offered at most 2km of Malhao. Balance, there was none here.

Why balance? We have tons of races with climbing and without a TT, so why not have a race with long TT and almost no climbs? It is a nice chance for once more and also chance for different riders to shine. Imo we have too few races without long TTs. Maybe this could be called balance, to have some other races than just 2 flat stages + 2 climbing stages + 1 max. 10-15kms long TT, that can be boring again and again.
Or you have problem with Henao not having chance in the end?

There are many unbalanced routes in the calendar, yet people only moan about those unbalanced in favour of the time trialists. Different races are supposed to be different, and that's good.

Not really... If Wiggins was here and won, I'd still be on about it
Much shorter TT here would at least give chance to the climbers against those TT'ers. As I say, this is one of the longest TT's in the season and it just doesn't suit this race. Something around 20km would do just fine and be more fair.
